Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

And realizing that between my FE goodies and my Sail Away goodies for my personal group I have more luggage than I have for the DH and my clothes...

I'm not sure HOW we're gonna fit all our clothes in the suitcases that will actually fit in our car. I think West may have to ride on top. :lmao:

It seems that I didn't notice that when I booked the excursion directly with the train folks, not through DCL, they inadvertently booked it for one month before we would actually be IN Alaska - Wednesday, June 22 not Friday, July 22.

The really sad thing is that I looked at that confirmation tonight several times and only barely noticed the error after repeated readings. I saw the Wednesday part but didn't seem to think that the date was wrong since I saw the "J" in June and read it as July I guess... I sure hope I can get this straightened out otherwise I will be out $224 AND I WILL BE SPITTING MAD!

Well, I had best get back to my packing... and cleaning off my camera's memory cards... and doing my laundry... and writing my "to do" list for my DSS who will be staying home minding the house and the cats... and reading more DISboards... and rereading the Navigators that have been posted... and trying to learn how to use some new HDR photo processing software I just got tonight... and tap dancing while whistling "Dixie" and repainting the kitchen...

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Hi and Thanks For The Sympathy!

I am confident that we can get it straightened out, but I will be stressing about it until it is resolved. Any good vibes sent my way are appreciated!

I will let everyone know the outcome.

On another front... Did you get your FE? I can still include you in my gifting (as long as I have your cabin number, names and ages). Please let me know ASAP as we are leaving in 11 hours to start our drive :scared1:

And speaking of that departure in 10 hours 59 minutes (but whose counting?), I still have a pretty major "to do" list before our departure so I had best get to it!

I am looking forward to meeting everyone soon!

Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day and VERY safe travels!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with the excursion. Hopefully, they will do good by you.

So, I made my customized packing list on our third computer, as not to mix up with the business computers. Of course, it is the only computer in the house that will not work as of last night. The dream I had the other night has come true.:surfweb: If we show up missing half our things, we'll know why.

I am trying to fit everything in the suitcases.:scared1:

Looking forward to getting away.

Hi everyone. Sounds like everyone is furiously packing or have already left. It's encouraging to hear that most of you are having trouble sticking with the amount of luggage you had originally planned for. Trying to keep each piece under 50 lbs. was a struggle for us.

On Saturday the 9th we were supposed to fly Delta, Colorado Springs to Seattle with a stop in Salt Lake City, arriving at 9:40 am. When we got to the airport gate they told us they were running late, we would not make our connection, & they'd have to reroute us. They put us on a United Flight with a 4 hour layover in LAX. We finally landed in Seattle at 3:30 pm about 6 hours after we were first scheduled to land. We had plans to meet one of Allen's friends from college for lunch but had to cancel that.

On Sunday we took a whale watching tour out of Anacortes, WA. I got to see my first ever (in the wild) Bald Eagle. We saw Orcas (K-pod family) & I actually saw the new baby that was born recently.

Tuesday the 12th we rode the morning Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver, BC. We checked into our B & B got settled, headed down to the pier where the Wonder was docked. Later we watched the Disney Wonder sail out, leaving the dock at 4:42 pm. We watched the boat drill & it took 30 minutes. I don't ever remember it taking that long in the Bahamas or the Caribbean.

Yesterday we took the Trolley Tour & had lunch in Granville Island.

Tomorrow we plan to do Stanley Park & the aquarium.

Then Grouse Mountain & Capilano Bridge over the weekend.

On Monday we move over to the Pan Pacific.

Wishing you all safe travels to Vancouver. Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Don't pack too much! :lmao:

Thanks for checking in...sounds like you are off to a fantastic start!

Tisza - hope your excursion glitch works out for you. I'm sure it will!

I finally dragged my suitcases up from the basement last night and noticed a tear in one of them. So...I just got back from the store to buy a new one. Suitcase shopping 2 days before our fight wasn't really on my list of things to do! I also threw my scale away last week so I have no idea how much anything weighs. We are getting our bathroom redone while we are gone and I was throwing out things I knew I would be replacing, and out went my scale. Guess what I'll be shopping for tomorrow??

Whether by plane, train, or automobile, everyone have a safe journey to Vancouver. See you on the ship!

Hi All!

I am taking a small break from final prep before departure in 2 hours and 55 minutes. I am astounded by how much stuff we are taking with us. It is a good thing that the cruise is only 7 days long otherwise I think I would just need to put my luggage tag on a Uhaul and be done with it :-)

Regarding my excursion issue... I called the kind folks at WPYR this morning as soon as I knew they were open and spoke with Dianne, who seems like a really nice gal by the way. It turned out that she had already read and responded to my email of last night.

The bottom line is that the information and reservation were correct in their system system but incorrect on my confirmation. Fortunately, all's well that ends well and we are all good where our excursion is concerned. HUGE RELIEF!

Well, I think my break is pretty much over as I still have more to do and am rapidly running out of time to get it done.

Take care all, help lots of people, travel safe and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Hi All!

We got out exactly on time at 6PM and are currently motoring our way down I-5 through Kettleman City and Fresno (Hi Tom! :thumbsup2). We are 195 miles from San Francisco but will be stopping for the night in Los Banos and then hitting the road again first thing in the AM. We should be arriving in Olympia WA around 9 PM or so tomorrow night.

The sunset was beautiful and seeing as we have been driving through "America's Fruitbowl" the scenery has been lush and lovely as well. Unfortunately, the down side to all this farm land is all the fertalizer, it certainly doesn't smell like it looks :rotfl2:.

Robyn, it all worked out ok and I am glad to hear that you are finally getting the chance to relax!

I must admit that between the anxiety induced by my train reservation added to the general excitement about finally being so close to the long anticipated departure, I didn't get nearly enough sleep so I am pooped.

Hopefully, I will get a decent night's sleep tonight, however with as excited as I still am, I don't actually expect to.

Leemore and Hanford are coming up and we are just passing the Harris Ranch right now which is one of the only brightly lit spots in an otherwise inky black landscape.

Safe travels to all! I will check in again later. Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Dang, I should be out there waving....or tossing you a cup of coffee or something.
