Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Laundry, laundry, laundry and packing, packing, packing...just remembered bug spray...:laundy:

While I was going through my pins and lanyards, I found some pins that I had forgotten about. These aren't just any pins...these are from the Sorcerer Hat collection and were only available at Mickey's of Glendale on the Imagineering campus during a special D23 day AND they are signed on the back by one of the Imagineers that helped create them.

I am willing to part with these...for Give Kids the World.

Here's what I propose:

During the meet at Diversions, for every $10 donation you make to GKTW, I will give you a raffle ticket and at the end of the meet I will draw a name to receive ONE of these pins.

If we pass the $250 mark, I will give away TWO of these pins.

If we pass the $500 mark, I will give away all THREE of these pins.
Thoughts?

Allen & I will be there checking in late morning on Monday the 18th.

I think there is a few of us so I was just wondering who all is going to be there tomorrow.

Off to Grouse Mountain today. Only 2 days left before we sail! :cool1:

Love it! Thanks for doing this!

Hi All!

First and foremost, OKWMEMBER, you won't get lonely on deck 2 as the DH and I are also hanging our hats in that most illustrious and exclusive location (If you think getting the Roy or Walt is tough, they've got nothing on Deck 2 :lmao:). The neighbor list on the first page was compiled before our cabin number was assigned.

As for your magnet needs, I might have a spare floating in my luggage. As usual, I got carried away in my production, and if I do I will happily share:).

By the way, it shows you and your DW participating in the FE but you are not on the final list. If you are still in the game please letme know and I with respond accordingly.

Tisza

We aren't doing FE's this time but we accept your magnet offer. Thanks! Good to know we have company on deck 2.

We are in Tacoma with friends and board the Amtrak to Vancouver tomorrow morning! Getting excited!

Grouse Mountain was nice. Beautiful Views even though it was overcast. Loved seeing the Grizzlies up close. One of them will stop & pose for pics once in a long while. The Lumberjack Show is really hoakie, but does have some humor in it. The chair lift gave me butterflies all the way up & all the way down, but the views are totally worth it - be sure to walk all the way to the windmill too to see the view from there.

We also went to Capilano Bridge. Loved the scenery, the walks & even the swaying of the big bridge. My parents brought me there when I was a kid but it's so different now & way more popular. We had a great day today.

Dinner @ Milestones on Robson btn Thurlow & Bute. Had the Seafood Risotto & it was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had.

We've been staying @ O'Canada House B & B on Barclay. Would highly recommend it! We're switching over to Pan Pacific Monday morning so I'll call & leave a message for you if I can. Have a great time @ Grouse Mtn!

Hi All!

We changed our plans and wound up going ahead and driving straight to Vancouver and getting a hotel in the city instead of overnighting at Bellingham, WA and I am super glad that we did!

We are holed up at the Victorian Hotel about 10 minutes walk from Canada Place in a beautifully redone room in a stately old hotel that dates to 1898.

Had dinner at Steamworks in the Gaslight district (and I HIGHLY recommend it!) and then dessert at One Tree on Granville a few blocks from Steamworks.

I am about to sink myself into a nice long bath and then enjoy a relaxing evening with the DH marveling at the "Wonder" of it all.

Tomorrow our plan is to enjoy the complimentary breakfast here at the hotel, check out by 11. Park our car at Vinci Parking under the Pan Pacific and then go about a block down near the Sea Bus terminal in order to get pictures of the Wonder in port before we go back to the ship to load in our luggage, finish our boarding stuff and meet up with the rest of our travel party at around 1.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone in the flesh at Diversions at 2:30. And I will have the magnets for anyone I was providing them for at our Meetup.

Oh, and I have decided that just for tonight I shall be on Eastern Standard Time because right now it would be 10:35 PM and I would only have about 12 hours left before I saw my ship come in.

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!

Got an email from my college today saying one of my courses was cancelled and I needed to sign up for a different on. The former was twice a week and the latter is only once a week and for an hour longer. Just this week I got a call saying that the same course had been changed. It was still at the same times, more or less, but it ended earlier and had a different course number. I was told I would be automatically registered in this new course and not to worry, the main purpose of the call was to warn me of the time change. Now with this email I am completely confused. The deadline to sign up for this new course is two days after we return, so I am sure it will be full by then. I signed up for it even though it said it was closed. The long and short of it is this: if I do not get this issue resolved before we set sail tomorrow I will need to find some source of wifi on the ship. Does anyone know where I can find this and how much it is going to cost me?

On a lighter note, do you think eight shirts and three dresses will be enough? When they say "no shorts in the dinning rooms" do they mean "no shorts at all"?

Hi Larissa!

There is WIFI available and it is pricy but you will need to do what you will need to do. Expect to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 for enough time to do what you need to do. They have and internet bar type of thing on the ship but I don't know if they charge to use it or not. When we were on the Magic in '05 they didn't but things could have changed.

As for your clothes, I think you should be more than fine with what you are planning to bring. As for the no shorts thing, I think they are talking about casual shorts like you would wear to the beach. Dress shorts, culottes or capris seem to be ok. They won't refuse you entry to the dining room (except Palo) if you are not dressed according to the guidelines. It is more that you might feel uncomfortable and that it does change the tenure of the event if everyone goes McDonald's casual instead of sit-down restaurant nice.

There are internet cafe's in the Alaska ports, some of which offer free WIFI. If you look me up on the ship I have a couple of books that might help you to narrow down where you might find free WIFI in the ports. I am in cabin 2513. I know you can call cabin to cabin from the wave phones but I don't know how it is done yet. But I sure will tomorrow.

If you can wait until Friday when we get to Skagway you might be able to save yourself some money on the WIFI thing and you might be able to get a faster connection as well.

I hope that helps. I am also confident that if anything I have told you needs more clarification or correction someone with more experience than I will happily chime in :-)

Take care, help lots of people and have a "Wonder"ful day!
