Josh...well said! And I'm glad you are back...you were missed. As usual, what you put in words reflect what others are/were thinking. Hopefully our turn will come. It would be an honor (and a blast!) to serve on the panel with you. I still run to the phone when it rings, hoping Duncan, Amy and Leanne are on the other end announcing they've decided to open more slots. Crazy, I know...but one can dream...it is the year of a million dreams, right? I only want one...

OK, you can ditto again! There are so many of us who feel EXACTLY the same way! When you love something, you want to feel needed by it. Despite the crazy odds, we all deserved a spot on the panel. Yeah, it stings a little not to be chosen. Jealousy is a real emotion. It doesn't make us be less proud of those who got their dream, though.

So, lets keep on planning, and keep sharing the magic!

As Bret said, there's just not much going on in Panel-land now. We have travel arrangements made, and that's about it. We're all just busy getting our ducks in a row for the holidays, etc.

I keep hoping when January gets here disney will be overwhelmed with questions/responses and they will come back and ask us second & third rounders to join the other panelist.
So are all our panelist busy with Thanksgiving preparations or busy getting ready for the training trip? I am busy planning/preparing for our Christmas WDW trip. Thanksgiving is easy I just have to bring pickles, olives, and ice. We have dinner with family (somewhere between 50-100 of us) and everyone brings something.

Here is ds's age 6-
Dear ,
I am writing to tell you about a very special Christmas gift your Mom & Dad and I have been working on for you and your sister. I received your letter awhile back asking me to send your family to Disney World for Christmas. I decided that since you are doing so well in school I would do my best to grant your Christmas wish. I could not do it all on my own so I asked your Mom & Dad to help me out. So this gift is from your Mom, Dad, & me. Mickey and the gang have also decided to help out by sending you a few gifts and giving you more once you get to Disney World, of course that's only if you stay on the Nice List. Read the enclosed invitation to see when you are going to Disney World. I will also bring you more gifts on Christmas Eve at your house just like always. I hope you enjoy your trip, expect lots of little surprises to come your way. Be a good boy and give Mickey a high-five for me.

Those are too cute! We are going to DL in 10 days and we should have done this. I'm thinking what more could you kids want for Christmas (20 days after we return). We have told them this is part of their Christmas, but a letter from him would have been a great idea.
I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with going to DL instead of WDW. I feel like I know all there is to know about WDW (tricks, places to eat, the location of things etc...) I have done my homework on DL, but still feel somewhat lost. Can you guys say OCD????
To top things off, I got my haircut today and well, I don't like it yet! So in all our photos I will look like the frump(warning!! I may be exaggerating a bit). I think the holidays, planning a trip and having three kids home all day (we are already out of school) is getting to me! Maybe I just need a good glass or two of wine with dinner.
Like I said guys things happen for a reason. My husband will not be traveling back with us from DL instead he is headed to Maryland for training. So if I would have made the panel, I would have needed to ask someone to take all three kids for the 4 days. Talk about a favor!
Glad to see everyone back!! Maybe we can keep each other grounded over the Holidays!!!

I'm not certain how we will tell them. DH and I have already caught ourselves a few times. Luckily we are planning a grand gathering for next year, so anytime we mention WDW we quickly say, "for next year!"

I'm thinking about getting in the already packed car and playing the WDW DVD for them. I'm thinking that so much excitement may make a long trip more fun!

Great letters! I have been meaning to post but it has been such a busy couple of days! Your kids are going to be so excited! I wish I would get a present like that...ha ha!

To all of you going soon...omg, I am so jealous. I want so bad to go during Christmas....however, maybe next year bc I think we just purchased the DVC!
DH was working on this the last few days, I think it may be finalized. I can't believe it!

We took the plunge! We are saving our points for either the cruise or Christmas time (we are going in Feb non-dvc)! Can't decide right now!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I know we all have a lot to be thankful for. A little boy in dd's class....lost everything in an apt. fire last night. They litterally had to leave in their pjs....struggling family to begin with...I can't even imagine. I have been on the phone trying to see how we can help. It is so sad....so...be thankful!

Yes, you'll have to let us know how they react. We are leaving for DL on Wens. so I am busy packing and getting everything in order. I am trying not to over pack It is finally cold here in TX so now I'm all confused on what to pack for SoCal. (warm, hot, cold...) such a hard thing Huh? Our last WDW trip in Jan. I left the kids lanyards at home so I'm trying really hard not to leave anything behind.

So I wonder what Ratboy's childhood was like? I think it's rare/sweet that siblings would bond over Disney like this as adults (can you tell my sibs think I'm crazy). Did the RatParents take you guys to WDW a billion times when you were kids?

My personal experience was the opposite, I was the last kid in my circle to go to WDW. I swore that would never happen to my kiddos!


On an unrelated note ... about a month ago I was with a friend (M) at Starbucks. She runs into another friend of hers that I don't know (S). It turns out the S is going to WDW the week before Thanksgiving. She tells me about her kids and I give her some advice about rides/restaurants/etc. S was kinda crabby about the whole trip -- she was one of these "I'm too cool for Disney, I'm just going for my kids, I hate lines, I'd rather be in Tuscany" people. I just knew that she didn't even want to have a good time. Arrrgh.

So, I ran into S yesterday, post-trip. It turns out that they were staying at the Beach Club and they got "Year of a Million Dreams" picked to stay in the Presidential Suite there. Giant two-bedroom suite with huge living room with windows looking out onto the Boardwalk. (Watch me turning green with envy). They had a great time! Mickey knew that they needed some magic and he sent it their way !
