Accidental Death at WDW

The lady at Primevil Whirl and this gentlemen are two separate incidents. I just wanted to clarify, maybe some posters are not reading the op.
I originally saw this thread and thought it was new thread about the CM who dies earlier this week. :(

I am in Orlando and have not heard anything on the news about a man falling at WDW and passing away. It was on the news yesterday about the CM from AK.

Oh, I am so sad to hear this. I can not imagine how horrible this must be for his family. WDW could never be the same for them again, if they could even drag themselves back one day. I know I couldn't. Prayers going out for the family. Please keep us updated when you hear more. So tragic and during the holiday season, too.....UNimaginable.....:sad1:

I did see on another site about a man who fee at MK and passed away. It is 2 seperate incidents of this man and ths AK worker. Both are very sad and my thoughts and prayers go out to both families.

A man who slipped and fell outside a restaurant at Disney's Magic Kingdom on Thursday died of his injuries Friday, according to Disney officials.

The 72-year-old man, who was at the theme park with his family, was taken to a hospital where he died, spokeswoman Jacquee Polak said. She did not give the man's name.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla said his agency did not respond to the incident and is not investigating the death.

It sounds like this may have been what SusieQ saw in front of Cosmic Rays.

I'm just glad there was some mention in the paper-I think alot of readers thought I was confused. I still haven't heard or seen anything locally. I'll post when I know more.

This is so sad and terrifies me. Last Friday-- day after Thanksgiving-- my mom slipped on the tile as she stepped out of the shower at the Poly. She hit her head in the corner of the doorway where the tile juts way out. She was in the next room and we could hear her. She had a giant bump like I'd never seen, but we foolishly didn't call 9-1-1. Luckily, my DH and Dad got her to CentraCare ( I stayed with my 2 DDs) just outside the DD gates and they checked her vitals before transporting her immediately to Celebration Hospital. She had CAT scans, etc. and was back later that afternoon. She and my dad raved about the excellent care. She managed to fly home as scheduled on Saturday, and has since seen her personal Dr. but isn't anywhere back to herself yet.

WDW is a huge place and with so many people working here and visiting, the public only hears about the fatalities. Sadly, accidents do happen, it is just scary to think of these sad things happening at the Happiest Place on Earth. We feel very blessed that my mom was able to return home. I am so sad for anyone who must leave WDW wiithout a loved one-- believe me, the thought was right there in our minds.
Just a tip-- always call 9-1-1 with a fall like that--with any bad injury or when you are anywhere unfamiliar to you. Don't waste time trying to get directions to a place you aren't used to driving in. As 2 First Responders and an EMT, with a neuro-radiogist in our extended party, we figured we could handle it. I don't know what we would have done if our decision to drive had harmed my mom.

I looked in the obituary section of the Clarion Ledger this morning and nothing so far.
I'm sure it will be in Sunday's Clarion Ledger, our local paper for the greater Jackson area.
So many people know this family since it is the Souths largest furniture store and one of the largest in the nation.

I know this family personally. I spoke with Mr. Miles' daughter today. The family is devestated by this accident. The funeral will be tomorrow.

As far as what happened: Mr. Miles' had had I believe 2 knee replacements. It is my understanding that he just lost his footing on a set of stairs and fell backwards hitting his head on the ground. This was just a "freak accident".

This is a precious family who has a strong faith in God. They are relying on the prayers of all friends and family to get them through this time. I know your prayers will be a comfort to them as well.:grouphug:

So sorry....my prayers for the family:grouphug:

It's always sad when a family member dies......but to happen in
such a "magical" place.....awful:sad1:

I don't know if it contributed to the man's accident but I found it VERY dark in MK at night. We also checked out Ray's one night and the area is not well lighted. This did not seem to be as much of an issue at other parks. If low light is a problem for you carry a flashlight, I did.

Thank you for the update. The paper wasn't listing anything as of yesterday. I'm just glad they were able to get back home.

Sad losing a family member in such a place as WDW. Two years ago in the Park we had a Michigan women fall to her death near the Calcite Springs overlook with her husband and two children looking on. Great Y'stone memory for that family :(

I was at Cosmic Ray's that night. This family was eating a couple of tables away from us and we left at the same time. I think we were all trying to make the next Twas the Night Before Christmas show at the Galaxy Theater.

Anyway, I was in front of the family when the man fell, but turned back when I heard yelling. I'm certainly no medical professional, but I assumed that he had a heart attack or a stroke or something before he fell. It didn't look like he fell from the top of the steps. It's so scary that a fall that small caused that much trauma

Disney was amazing. There were paramedics there within two minutes and an ambulance pulled right up to a gate next to the Galaxy Theater. Everything moved so smoothly. I can only imagine the training that CMs go through.

Did he fall inside CRs or outside? There are steps leading to the Sunny Eclipse area, right?

Please let his family know that many prayers are going out for him & his family. We were at MVMCP on the 29th, coming out of Toon Town we could see the flashing lights of the ambulance at the service entrance by Toon Town & were hoping it was just an ambulance kept on property 'just in case.' As soon as we passed the Tea Cups we were greatly saddened as they were bringing him to the ambulance towards Toon Town.
