The Disney Wonder was on the provisional Port Melbourne cruise schedule, but has since been removed

As an Aussie, it's sad news. But, not exactly unexpected given the high cost (in AUD), limited itineraries (with no appealing ports), etc. Maybe they could try again in a few years?

I wonder, with the giant Adventure arriving in Singapore, if they think it will be even harder to consistently fill a ship out of Australia.

Singapore is an 8 hours flight from australia. Its like saying european cruises are reducing demand for florida cruises. Ps. Australians dont like Singapore. Its a very boring city.

They could of just brought the magic and improved the itineraries and their timing. This isnt on australis lack of demand but disneys complete lack of understanding the market. Ps. The aud has risen against the usd so thats now less of a factor.

The Magic is showing on the schedule for the port of Galveston from Nov 2026 to early January 2027 (the furthest that port schedule has posted so far).

I think you misunderstood my point. The Australian sailings were previously the most convenient ship for all of SE Asia (and presumably the regions around it as well. Previously you had to get as far east as Hawaii before Florida becomes any more convenient, but a sailing from Singapore will be as convenient or more convenient for literally billions of people (only a smaller fraction of whom have money or interest in traveling on a Disney cruise).

I am not going to speak to Australian travel preferences but calling Singapore a “very boring city” is objectively incorrect. I’ve loved all the Australian cities I’ve visited but I can’t think of any that offer more to do than Singapore, though the actual offerings vary.

As an Australian who LOVES Singapore because it has so much to do and the people are amazing, maybe just hold off on speaking for the entire country. We have 2 cruises booked on the Adventure and 2 on the Wonder booked this summer. Can’t wait.

The Disney Wonder was on the provisional Port Melbourne cruise schedule, but has since been removed, further suggesting DCL is pulling out of the Australian market at the end of this current season. It still shows up on the Sydney port schedule but there is a large gap from Nov 5 - Dember 29 which is where Melbourne should have been so it's likely Melbourne just updated faster than Sydney.

Such a shame we had a great time on our sailings in Sydney but they were worryingly quiet so makes sense to move out of the market.

Sometimes Disney asks ports to remove the ships before they've officially released their itineraries (I know it sat there a long time) but in this case, it wouldn't surprise me if they ended the Aussie itineraries: they were overpriced and charged in USD (had to repeatedly discount), didn't accomodate well for our culture, and didn't travel anywhere.

I was clearly speaking for the majority. Not every single person. And the stats of where people travel for holidays suggest the majority of australians hate singapore. New zealand, bali, fiji, japan, europe, peru and usa is where australians visit. Not singapore , which is weird given so many flights pass through there.

Fair enough. If your point was about south east asians rather then australians specifically then I misunderstood.

1.17 million Australian visitors in 2014 doesn’t sound like nobody. Especially considering that Singapore is tiny compared to destinations like Europe or Japan.
