AAA Diamond Parking Pass Blackout Dates

We just picked up our AAA Diamond Pass for our upcoming trip (Dec 4 - 10) and noticed that the Diamond Parking at the Magic Kingdom is blacked out for the entire month of December. Thankfully, the other parks are OK for the dates we are going.

Has anyone been blacked out from using Diamond Passes during these dates in the past? Any suggested alternatives? What is that parking used for during the blackout dates?

During past trips, we have used the diamond parking for quick get aways for naps and and during park hopping.

I am totally bummed. Any thoughts or ideas?

I too was wondering why the first couple weeks of December was included in the blackout dates.

Yes, I was also quite perturbed that the whole month of December is blacked out for MK And I was thinking I would get a great parking spot, maybe I'll just get to the park at 7:30AM.

Does anyone know why they do this or what the spaces are used for in December?

I wonder if even the parking attendants know about blackout dates.

Perhaps I will just play dumb and do what I have always done. Flash the pass to the attendant and follow the green line to the Diamond spaces.

Any one know what happens in December?

Do you have to book a package through AAA to get the diamond pass, or can you just obtain one by having a membership through AAA.

As a AAA member, I have usually gone into the local office/store for a pass when buying park tickets. Since we usually stay offsite on my hotel points, I have never purchased a package. Last year when I went to do this, they didn't offer the 5-day park hopper I wanted, so I didn't end up buying anything, but they did give me a pass with no problems.

I think they say you have to buy a package to get one, but have gotten them for the past three years just by asking.

We went to MGM on 7/4 and the attendant told us there was no aaa diamond parking that day. Had to park with everyone else. If you are staying onsite in december I would highly recommend taking the buses to MK because if you drive your car, you have to park and then take a monorail to MK whereas the buses take you right to the gate of MK.
