That is why I referred to it as semi-control, but Joe L(indy) did consider caucusing with the Republicans prior to this swearing in... which would have given republicans SEMI-control instead.

When the Democrats gained CONTROL of the Congress, I didn't hear any "Yay we have SEMI-control!!!" There was a sigh of relief and jubilation by Democrats that they now had CONTROL after 12 years.

I co-own a temp agency. Most of the temps referred to us are criminals on parole for different varying crimes. Does that make me one?
Uh No! Now if I took part in some of those crimes, then we would have something to talk about.

I'm a firm believer in not being my brother's keeper. I'm responsible for my own actions, not the actions of others.

Like I said in another post, I wasn't a fly on the wall when Obama and Ayer talked and met. I don't know what went on between them.

It's the new math! Here, let me help you out with another example.

When the Republicans controlled both houses, they and the Bush Administration and the Treasury Department tried to get regulation of the GSE's passed, over and over again, abut the Democrats blocked those efforts on a strict party line vote. Every single one of them voted to block reform, every single time. Almost all the Republicans voted for the reform, and for a world-class regulator to oversee Fannie and Freddie. But a few Republicans sided with the party-line Democrats, because vocal special interest groups like the Nehemiah Corporation, intent on preserving low income housing as a government policy priority threatened to play the race card against them.

So, the math looks like this:

Every single Democrat > most of the Republicans minus the few who really don't like being falsely accused of bigotry and racism.

I believe that is an inverse relationship. Doing something bad after you were friends (like Keating) or doing something bad before you were friends and you associated anyway.. Yeah -- you're right there's no difference.

See here is my thing. I don't know who to believe. From what I have heard and read, yes to both the Bush and McCain question. But, like Obama I don't know how much to believe.

No neither was a deciding factor for me when I voted. As again, I don't know who to believe.

As for a relationship with the Bin Laden family. My understanding that family is HUGE. I don't believe in being your brother's keeper.

Exactly. That's my point. If we start slinging mud around all that happens is that everyone ends up covered in dirt. Now of course, the Democratic party will be expected to return the favor by digging up some incident that McCain was involved in.
Sort of like the bailout mess, every one was so busy blaming the other party that decent solution is every found.

My parents told me a long time ago to choose my friends wisely, they will impact who I am - if not actually who I become, at least who others see me as. My parents are smart people.

Ayers may have done his damage a long time ago but it doesn't change the fact that he did it and openly admits that he does not regret the things he did.

Couldn't have said it better. Its not like he's being questioned about "underage drinking", WHY isn't it important?? They're not talking about when Obama was 8 and it happened, but his association with him NOW, to get his campaign started/going. If he was "so unimportant to Obama WHY consult with him and take his money??? Why trust his judgement??

Obama seems to "be involved with" interesting people like Ayers, Rezsnick Jeremiah Wright, and many others involved in/on the fringe of fraud, corruption, hate and lies. Just GOOGLE his name and the connections are rampant. Would you ignore it if your "family" was associating with these types of people
It surprises me that people will dismiss this out of hand, like they dismiss his limited, if any type of executive decision making (well credit being given to him to totally snowball the Clintons/Democrats and steal Hillarys chance)
He has not made any decision and even when he does VOTE, he says "present" (basically meaning A. I can't make up my mind or B. I don't want to be responsible for the outcome.) HOW CAN YOU NOT MAKE A DECISION WHEN YOU ARE ASKED TO VOTE??
How do we rely on him to make decisions, never mind the "split second decisions" like after 9/11? Is he equipped to handle a crisis, because unfortunately I think we can agree, it is out there just waiting to happen to our great country again. Who will he choose to aid him in his decisions/options, besides Biden?? ( I happen to like Biden though I was thoroughly disgusted with some statements during the debate that were blatantly false per outside fact checking sources).
As far as McCain voting 90% with his party, well it's his party affiliation, the way Senators generally vote WITH their constituency that gave him the job and PAYS him to make a decision. Don't Democrats usually vote the Democratic line too? I'd give Obama credit for Voting.... but he doesn't.
Like I said earlier, I don't agree with McCain on all topics, he'll hurt those in Unions, OUCH! I realize that, among other things. But I tend to look at the BIGGER picture and that picture is not a pretty one.
Nothing happens overnight. The debacle of the economy did not JUST start, not even with Bush, LOOK at the records, SEE who OPENED the flood gates of the mortgages (GIVE the $$ to the low income, those that can't really afford it, CLINTON! Great in theory but awful in its practice) ALL that has happened was to FURTHER hurt those with the least the most! So very sad.
Again. I do NOT agree with all McCain has to say by any means, BUT Obama's connections make me VERY uncomfortable.
