A beer that tastes good?

Sam Adams has many dark brews. Try Arrogant ******* for a dark beer. Be carefull of the West Coast Brews as they are smokey in taste to go along with seafood. Three Horse Ale is decent and if you are stuck with domestic, Michelob Amber Bock will work. You should be able to find Samuel Smiths brews around Orlando.

YOU GUYYYYYYSSS! He said American Beer! Corona? Bass? Sheesh. ;)

Yuegling? He said GOOD American beer. ;)

Order Samuel Adams. It should be pretty easy to find. Sometimes you can even get a specials like Sam Adams Summer Ales, etc.

I have tried a few of the brews at the Big River Grill and Brewhouse in Epcot and some of them are interesting.
I would draw a distinction between craft beers, and brew house beers. This may be heresy to say, but I think most places that brew on site brew only average beer. There are exceptions, but the really good stuff is coming from real breweries that do nothing but brew beer.

Bitters rather than Pale Ales, IPA (Indian Pale Ale) was originally brewed for export to English soldiers and administrators serving in India with a higher alcohol and hop content, but you probably know all that.

I prefer my regular beers darker as a traditional bitter but not as dark as a mild, porter or stout although do like them as a change.

I don't think you'll find a bitter in Orlando. I'm sure I've had an American ESB, but I don't recall where or when. It's just not a common beer here. Mrs. Toad, does Pyramid make an ESB? (not that it's available in Orlando)

I say go for Anchor Steam if it's down there.

Now a question for you Andy....I love Double Diamond, but can't find it anymore....actually been a couple years now. Do you know if it's still made?

Tell them you're English and they'll know not to give you any of the watery, mass-produced American beers. :thumbsup2

And have a great trip!

I think they will be able to tell that from my accent. Cor Blimey Guv, stike a lite, Gercha.

Last April I was in Cincinnatti as we had to take the ashes back of my MIL who's family has a plot there and we were staying in a Hotel with my SIL from San Francisco as we met in the bar on our arrival day she said to me what do you want to drink, and I said to her what I really want now is a London Pride but I am not going to get that here so I will have a local beer and as we turned to the barman he had opened and was pouring for me a bottle of Fuller London Pride! Lovely Jubbly

Chimay is Belgian if I recall.

It is...sorry didn't know you were looking for just US brewskis. If that's the case just keep drinkin' BUD w/whiskey chasers 'till you don't care what it tastes like. :teeth:

Rogue makes an ESB called Brutal Bitter which is very good, but I don't know if its available in FL. Maybe someone in the Orlando area could suggest a store that has a good beer selection.

And I just used that bit of IPA trivia at a picnic last weelend. ;)

Since you metioned stouts, if you ever get a chance to try Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout, give it a try. It will knock you socks off, and at 11% abv, you won't need to drink too many. Try that then tell me American Beers have no flavor. :)

Fuller London Pride is found many places in southern new england. If I wasn't going for hobgoblin tonight, I'd be picking that up instead.

Wow I have not seen Double Diamon for absolutely Years. Never considered good here I am afraid.

Now Guys it is now 5.17 pm and I have to go home via a shop grab some ingredients to make a Byriani and Curry and have that with a beer or two as I watch England lose to Brasil at football (thats Soccer to you) I will rejoin you later.

All this beer talk is making me thirsty. I'm off to the store to pick up some for the weekend.

Leinenkugels (Leinie's) but skip the Summer Shandy

Summer Shandy!

I accidently bought this lemon pledge flavored beer once. My husband literally took a drink and spit it out all over the kitchen floor. Nasty, nasty stuff. I'd like to meet the person who actually enjoys this beer.

Sugarpie drinks lemon pledge.

I know this is not helpful, but I usually drink local Wisconsin beers. In my fridge right now are Ambergeddon brewed by Ale Asylum here in Madison (a hoppy and malty "west coast style" ale), Hearty Hop IPA brewed by the New Glarus Brewing Company in New Glarus, WI (I LOVE their "Spotted Cow" which is light and yeasty) and Wisconsin Amber brewed by Capital Brewery in Middleton, WI. I don't think any of these are available in FL.

Honestly, we usually just pick up a case of Corona and a few limes when we visit FL. We find it cold and refreshing on a hot day.

Perhaps someone can suggest a place where you can pick up some micro beers. Maybe ABC Liquors? We always shop at Publix and their selection is pretty limited. Good luck!
