Yeah, I do already have a list of people I need to hide from when I get to the ship. BIP is easy -- avoid the red s***. Magiroux, I know, so I can hide from her. O'Blender will be a bit tougher.

That should be easy too...just listen for the crushing ice. :lmao:

Well, time for bed. DD wants to go to school early tomorrow. Have to take her in at 6:30. She needs to meet with her Math teacher. I hate how they grade math homework. Give them 30 problems and only pick one or two to grade. So if you get one wrong you get an F. Could have all the others right but still fail. She has a new math teacher this semester. Went from an A+ to a C because of this.

That makes no sense.

Ok, I need to go to bed. Looooooonng day tomorrow. At work by 6AM. DS13 has ortho eval in the afternoon. Swim lessons at night. Piles of work to do.

Maybe I should call in dead.

is their a DL shuttle from hotel?

thanx for getting info!

chrissie

may already be answered, but there is a ART (Anaheim Resort Transport) stop right across the street. It is not dedicated to the hotel, so when leaving DL you will stop at other hotels first. If there weren't a wall, you would actually be able to see the hotel from the shuttle stop. I guess if you were really, really tired it would be beneficial to take the shuttle. But honestly, you walk for 5 more minutes and your home. The shuttle is $3 per person per day or I think $1.50 per ride.

Wow, born in Whitestone, later moved to Bayside, now in Howard beach, went to Holy Cross High School Flushing.

I got my family a room at the HoJo for Friday and Saturday, and as of right now, planning on going to DL on Saturday, the day before we sail.

I talked it over with the DW/DFriend and I think we're going to go ahead and hit DL as well! Seeing as the other two have never been and I haven't been since Grad Night in high school :sad2: BUT we're not going to stay at HoJos. Assuming my parents haven't blown town for their retirement place in Florida, I think we'll all go to DL and then stay at a port-area hotel...The Nana won't want to give up a second of grandbaby time!

I've heard nice things about The Villages, which is in Lake County, the same county our place is in, but we aren't in a retirement community. The area that we are in has mobile homes as well as cinder block homes. Our place is a few miles from the city of Deland, which is a nice little city.

My mother just recently moved from the Villages to the next town over. She loved the Villages, but they have a LOT of rules such as keeping you landscaping looking perfectly groomed, using only a minimum of lawn ornaments (I guess the pink flamingos were getting out of control), keeping your front light on, walking with a flash light, the list goes on & on. The place has grown tremendously since she moved there in the late 80's. There Townsquare is absolutely gorgeous with shops, restaurants, & live bands on the common on the weekends. Plus you can pretty much go anywhere on a golf cart. Even the police drive them! It is a retirement area, but you will see folks of all ages there.

Thanks Andy. I am taking notes for places to definitely check out in Sept.:woohoo: We really are not looking for a retirement community. We do not want to be one of those"crabby old people." Being around all age groups keeps you young minded!!!!!:thumbsup2

Anyone else have any suggestions of towns around the Mouse in Florida.

My personal favorite is the Sarasota area. The beaches are beautiful with talcum powder sand & there is so much to do there.

I previously mentioned the article on Cartagena that appears in the current Conde Nast Traveler magazine. I thought I would post some excerpts from the article to give people a taste of what certainly seems like a fascinating port-of-call. If nothing else, this should reassure those who, based on some of the previous posts, might have been concerned about leaving the ship. Having just finished the entire article, I will have to make sure to watch Romancing the Stone again before next August.

On its beaches:

Cartagena’s beaches aren’t what you’d expect. The sand is thick and brown, muddying the water. The surf is rough and tricky. These are city beaches, like those in San Juan and Coney Island: crowded, nosy, and fun–not relaxing. For that, most people go to the Rosario Islands, an hour and twenty minutes from the marina by launch. For a quick dip in the Caribbean, go to the busy, fun beach in Bocagrande, five minutes from the old city by cab. Another option is to hire a cab to take you to the small fishing village of La Boquilla, five miles north of the city.

Thank you for this info. I almost always pick a beach excursion so it's good to know that I'll be skipping the beaches in Cartegena. I think like others have posted, I will stick around the port area & shop. The town sounds lovely!

Shelly, you and your family are adorable :goodvibes how dare you say otherwise, shame on you girl, shame, shame, shame!!!!!! :)

I agree! You look stunning to me in that pic. & I am sure you will continue to be just as lovely!

Yeah it is time for the WEDNESDAY DANCE!!!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :yay: :yay: :yay: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Happy Wednesday!!!

Chrissie

I'm a SAHM, but I have to get up every morning & get breakfast, make lunch, drive the kids to school & I love Fridays just as much now as I did when I worked in an office full-time!

TG!!!!! Oh how I wish it was Friday though! It's been such a rough week at work that I am mentally exhausted have nothing left to give shool work, and I didn't sleep well last night - awake until after 4 and then some really weird dreams until I finally got up at 7:40.

I always have the strangest & most vivid dreams. Last night I had a dream I was going to a wedding & all they had in the dress store were these little frilly floral dresses with white bloomers & I was in tears saying, "I will just look horrible in these Raggedy Ann dresses!"

I really really hope AI is better tonight than it was last night. If it doesn't improve soon I don't know if I'm going to keep watching.

It was better, but still thought it was even better a few weeks ago. If Antonella doesn't get voted off this time...I will scream!

The recipe:

1 lb. kale or other dark cabbage
3 lbs. potatoes (Yukon Golds are best)
1 onion, chopped
1 stick butter
4 oz cream
Pinch of dill
Pinch of nutmeg or mace
Salt and white pepper to taste

Hmmm I will have to try that. I'm Irish & I have never made this recipe, but it sounds yummy. I like cabbage. Not as much as cake...but I like it! Funny it calls for nutmeg, Rachel Ray puts nutmeg in everything!

OMGosh, that happens to me, too! And it only gets worse if I tell him about it. :rotfl:

Usually my "bad" dreams are about traveling. We'll get onto the ship or to the hotel and I'm still unpacking while everyone is out having fun. About the time I get done, the vacation is over. :sad2:
Do you think there's something Freudian going on??

OMG when it gets close to cruise time, I'll start having dreams that I forgot to do things like go to dinner, or the shows, etc. & the cruise will be over & I'll have missed everything! What is up with that???

Oh. Sorry about that. Now I have to teach you people that J. R. has a period and a space between the J and the R and a period after the R.

J. R.

:wizard:

Okay J with a period space R & another period! You know you are awfully picky about your name for someone who spells their name backwards, turns out it's not even the name you go by, and you don't have the name you really want to be known as in your signature? :confused3 Helloooooo! :rotfl:

That is just so wrong! Besides, homework shouldn't be graded for a letter grade. Credit if they did it and none if they didn't. Isn't homework suppose to be practice to make sure the teacher did their job & taught the material in class?
