I bought 15 pr of cotton unders to sleep in...and plan to toss them as we go. I hate wearing pj's, and I hate using covers...but since this is all Moms....I need to be "covered".

So you want to make sure noone knocks at the door in the morning without calling first? :lmao:

No fireworks here until October but.....

Disney's POTC Online is doing fireworks every evening. Here's 3 screen shots from the test server of the view from Tortuga:

Kids is right! My DD, when she was 3, decided to "decorate" herself with a forest green marker (think Mimi from the old Drew Carey Show). I tried to clean her up as much as possible before taking her to Day Care, but with her coloring, the forest green on her skin tone made it look like she had brusies on her eyes, finger nails and toe nails. The Director of the Pre-school had to sit her down and ask her how this had happened (because they are required to investigate anything that looks like abuse). Thankfully, Lisa told them she had used the marker to put on make up. (Also, the Director knew us, but she still had to go thru the process)

Well, no fireworks for us, but we had a very patriotic day.

We rode our bikes to Mount Vernon. We didn't wait in line to go into the house, but there were a lot of Revolutionary reenactors and we met George & Martha. We also spent more time in the museum than we usually do with the kids.

Tonight we went to dinner at Gadsby's Tavern in Old Town Alexandria - just a few miles from our house. Washington, Adams, Madison, Monroe, Lafayette, et al.'s hangout. Jefferson had his innaugural banquet there. Pretty cool.

I don't know if I've mentioned it....I probably have about a thousand times! LOL! BUT, DS LOVES Mt Vernon!!! The pic in my sig was taken at MV!!

Here is a pic I took of the kids while we were going through the museum -- we could have spent days there!!!

The other time Lisa was asked about "abuse" was a few months ago. She had hurt her hand vaulting and the Coaches thought she might have broken on of her fingers. So, we took her to the emergency room. The Doctor, who obviously had never seen a gymnasts arms before, was very concerned about the bruises on her wrists, along with the possible broken finger.

Now that Lisa is 13, she could explain to the Doctor that all of the bumps and bruises on her were from gymnastics and not to worry. Thankfully her finger wasn't broken (after x-rays), just jammed badly. The Doctor told her no physical activity for a while, to which Lisa laughed. Even if she couldn't use her hand, there are a number of skills she would work on that don't require your hands. And if she could not do an event (ie Bars), she could always conditon. The Doctor did not really know how to respond to that. I bet all of our athletic children would find a way to cope when they are hurt without giving up their sport completely for a while.

My sons favorite T-Shirt remains - "Genius by Birth, Slacker by Choice"

My daughter's is "Working Hard Beats Talent When Talent Doesn't Work Hard"

Two very different children and I LOVE them both!:grouphug:

These could discribe my oldest ds and oldest dd...... She's always had to work extra hard (and did!) to get anywhere....He on the other hand is sooooo lazy! He is better (then again he IS 28!!!!) but, if he could meet a woman that would work and let him stay home...... he would do it in a heartbeat! He is so unlike his father or I....... I am a SAHM but, I am NOT a slacker! LOL!

I still remember the day he called me to tell us what his IQ test score was.... DS --*You know that's genius level don't you?*
ME --*Yes, but that doesn't pay your rent...oh, wait.... your dad and I do!*

I also bought most of the Harry Potter Lego sets from Target at 75% off. Unfortunately, I think I may have missed a set or two and they have since been discontinued. I've been giving them to DS over the last couple of years for birthdays, Christmas, etc. Fortunately, he got addicted to the HP books after I bought the Legos but before I started giving them to him!

They recently opened a Lego store in our local mall (the first one in Texas!). They had a Grand Opening two weeks ago. They had a Lego Master Model Builder here and they constructed an 8-ft tall Yoda in the mall over the course of the weekend. They invited the kids to come help out by building bricks which were then used to build the big Yoda. Everyone who participated got a certificate. I'll try to remember to post some pictures later. It was a lot of fun, and there were lots of people there. There was a pretty long line just to get in the store!

Kim

LOL! Same here. He was only a few years old at the time but for the price I couldn't resist!!! He liked the first movie and now loves the books too. Unfortunantly when we moved his assembled pieces were messed up and we still haven't sorted through the tub. :( I wrapped each piece in packing paper and put fragile on the tub BUT I think that DH just emptied the tub a bit too quickly and when I unwrapped them ... well ...

Lisa,

I see from your signature that you were on the 11/15/03 sailing. That was our first time on the Magic (and DCL) too!

Kim

Cool! Another reunion cruise!!! I have never been on a cruise with waves like that one. I guess 20+ foot swells three days out of 7 anything else is a cakewalk. LOL! Did you participate in the DIS group that cruise? I know that it was very small.

Getting ready to drive a whole half mile to watch the town fireworks -- they are about a mile away......If the back of my house faced the direction that the front faces we could sit on our 2nd floor patio (off the gameroom) and watch the fireworks! LOL!

I hope everyone had a great 4th!

good evening everyone!!! hope you all had a great 4th!! no fireworks here tonite..but we get to see some tomorrow!
enjoy your weekend!

Who would want to wear those orange shorts outside the restaurant????

I've never been to Hooters. There are just some business that I refuse to give my money to.

Ditto! When my dad was alive and had his own business, he told his employees that if they took a client there to eat, that they didn't need to bother turning in a receipt for reimbursement because he would not pay for such a restaurant!

CRUISE TIP

As I was walking home tonight, I was thinking of the last cruise and a thought came through from the past.

The Tip is on this long cruise to go regularly to guest services for a printout of your stateroom account. Do not leave it to the end as there will be a long printout and you might miss something.

On my last Repo, after the first week I asked for a printout and found a few items that were not mine.

There was some drink orders in the Bars late at night when we knew we were not there.

I asked Guest services to check these and they were made by the 'paper' receipts not KTTW card.

Firstly DCL said they were mine in my name, but I insisted they were not.

A day later I was called to guest services to 'see' my 'bills'.

The bills were made out with the same surname as myself, and I clicked quite quickly what had happened, there was another family with a Cat 4 the same as us just down from us.

They had ordered these drinks and when guest services checked the signature it was the other party and they refunded my account.

So do check, mistakes occur and on a long cruise you might forget what you have or have not ordered. And it takes DCL some time to sort out and correct.

ya gotta love the V-neck mohair sweater with the Speedo.

Oh wait, that's not a sweater...:scared1:

Yup on my first cruise found a charge from the Promenade Lounge on DHs name. Took 4 months to get it resolved by them crediting my card. All I wanted to know was who signed the bill as I thought my DS may have taken the wrong KTTW card. 4 months and they never did find the slip.

FYI Steel Magnolias will be airing tomorrow night on Oxygen here in Orlando.

I just 'won' my tiara!

Had to show the pic to DH as "evidence":lmao: I think he now believes that there will be tiaras on the ship :thumbsup2
Very pretty M. It'll look great with your dress.

I have a question that might get overlooked but here it goes.
I have purchased my FE gifts. They are something that is on almost everyones packing list. Should I just spill what it is so the FE people do not have to pack it or not? I have never done this before. I know it's not the SM but just not sure.

Coral
Since there may well be over a hundred surprises in our FE, knowing what one is in advance that may help us pack less would be great:goodvibes

CRUISE TIP
Thanks Andrew, good tip:thumbsup2 we tend to forget about this kind of stuff.

Hey everyone! I was inspired to try and make a door magnet out of "our" phrases here on the thread. What do you think? Any suggestions or changes? Anyone who would like is welcome to use it, but I will upload a larger version that will print better once it is finished.

Pamela
Very cool:cool1: Thanks so much:yay:

Cograts Mike:cheer2:

That was on purpose :lmao: If you had taken it Tom then he was going to do his special magic to bump you.
I knew it:rolleyes:
Hi Cherie:yay:

hey don't knock the breathing stuff... i didn't get to use it when dd was born (emergency c-section) but it was one of the only ways i got through two weeks of undiagnosed gallbladder attacks before having it out. (yeah and i was on pain meds too but it still hurt.)
DH used the breathing techniques from lamaze when he had a liver biopsy done several years ago. Good for dealing with pain in general I guess.

If it's not underwear...I'll usually fold it for them after i put my stuff in.
That's what we did in college. I wouldn't mind if someone folded my laundry to use the dryer I was using. I would probably be a bit embarressed that I didn't make it back in time to take it out myself.

Just wanted to add a couple of graphics (peanut, multiple ketchup's, a picture of Stacey or Crash).

I logged out just before you posted this. YOU WOULDN'T DARE!
And besides, no one wants to see my face on their door anyway.
