I have a question that might get overlooked but here it goes.
I have purchased my FE gifts. They are something that is on almost everyones packing list. Should I just spill what it is so the FE people do not have to pack it or not? I have never done this before. I know it's not the SM but just not sure.

Coral

I guess it depends on when you were planning on giving it out....I don't mind if you tell...but you might get different opinions...

Hey everyone! I was inspired to try and make a door magnet out of "our" phrases here on the thread. What do you think? Any suggestions or changes? Anyone who would like is welcome to use it, but I will upload a larger version that will print better once it is finished.

I love it!!

You can sit next to my DW. She could be wearing a full set of slickers and still get sauce on her shirt :lmao:

Andy

Oh, I never thought of bring disposable rain ponchos! Do we have a messy eaters section? :rotfl2:

You're right about it not being a vacation if your washing clothes. I like it at WDW because I can throw a load or two in and go out and sit at the pool and relax and really doesn't seem like I'm doing laundry. I have a feeling that on board I'm either going to have to stay in the laundry room or time it so that I get there before the load is done.

I did a load on our 7-day. It really wasn't that bad. I think the washers are a half an hour and of course the dryers are timed. The only thing I didn't like was people leaving their clothes in the dryer and not coming to get them. I waited 20 minutes for someone to come and empty out a dryer. Than I did something I don't usually do, I took out their stuff! An hour later and they still hadn't come and gotten it.

I bought 15 pr of cotton unders to sleep in...and plan to toss them as we go. I hate wearing pj's, and I hate using covers...but since this is all Moms....I need to be "covered".

Stace TMI! So when the bad guys ketchup with the ship we can blame you for the "underwear trail!" :lmao: :lmao:

Just got this message in from the Dolphin pod that tends to follow the ship...

"We'd rather have fish"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Happy Independence Day!!!

We are heading into Boston to see the fireworks display. We have never taken the kids, because Mike doesn't do well in crowds. We're going to head in by train & attempt it this year, but try to stay away from the most conjested areas. Rascal Flatts is playing on the Esplanade, but we won't even get near there with the masses.

On a side note, I can't hear anything but ringing in my left ear. Don't know if it's a virus or I've punctured my ear drum or what. Guess I'll give it a couple of days & if it doesn't get better, I'll head to the dreaded doctors. Huh? :listen:

I've always wanted to go to Boston and see the Pops on the Esplanade. But I'm not a crowd person either. Would like to go to the Mall in DC, but the crowds.

Diane, I have ringing in my ears alot. I thought it was because someone was talking about me! LOL!

You are just too talented! It's cool! :thumbsup2

Oh, dumb kids moments.... Like the time Christopher wanted to see what would happen if he closed his scissors on his lower lip? Bleeds a lot....

DD put the ends of a hard wire necklace in her ears when she was 5. Comes out of her bedroom and tells me her one ear is bleeding. Ended up at the ER and after we were on the way to Walgreens to get a prescription for ear drops, she tells me what really happened! Kids!

We had some excitement here last night. DD and a friend were at the school park and I guess some kid on a motorized scooter plowed into the post of the basketball hoop! Fell off, hit is head and got a long deep cut on his shin. They asked if he was OK and was going to call 911 (they had their cell phones) when the kid whips his phone out and calls. The fire department and rescue squad came. The kid was OK. Two 10 yrs old girls telling me what happened was very dramatic and confusing! Oh well everything ended up being OK.

Yes, parenthood changes everything. But parenthood also changes with each baby. Here are some of the ways having a second and third child differs from having your first:

Your Clothes

1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.

The Baby's Name

1st baby: You pour over baby-name books and practice pronouncing and writing combinations of all your favorites.
2nd baby: Someone has to name his or her kid after your great-aunt Mavis, right? It might as well be you.
3rd baby: You open a name book, close your eyes, and see where your finger points.

Preparing for the Birth

1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
2nd baby: You don't bother practicing because you remember that last time, breathing didn't do a thing.
3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your 8th month.

The Layette

1st baby: You pre-wash your newborn's clothes, color-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.
3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can't they?

Worries

1st baby: At the first sign of distress--a whimper, a frown--you pick up the baby.
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.
3rd baby: You teach your 3-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing.

Pacifier

1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby's bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.

Sleeping

1st baby: Sleeps in your bedroom for the first six - eight weeks
2nd baby: Sleeps in your bedroom for the first two weeks
3rd baby: Goes right from the hospital nursery into their own room

Baby Book

1st baby: You religiously make entries every day, carefully noting the number of spit-ups and bowel movements for the first year
2nd baby: You enter a few facts each week but stop after 6 months
3rd baby: You buy the book but enter the child's name, birth weight, and length on the first page

Diapering

1st baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour, whether they need it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every 2 to 3 hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.

Activities

1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner.

Going Out

1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home 5 times.
2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.

At Home

1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
2nd baby: You spend a bit of every day watching to be sure your older child isn't squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.

Swallowing a coin

1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays.
2nd child: When 2nd child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for coin to pass.
3rd child: When 3rd child swallows a coin you deduct it from his allowance!!

Pass this on to everyone you know who has children...or everyone who KNOWS someone who has had children... (the older the mother, the funnier this is!)

Thanks for the laugh! I can relate to more than one of these!

Looks like I have once again totally missed a pirate run! I was outside for a few minutes watching DH trim trees.

Just wanted to add a couple of graphics (peanut, multiple ketchup's, a picture of Stacey or Crash).

If you want to send me the graphics, I'll add them. Or if you want to do it yourself, I'll send you the original. I use PaintShop Pro so all the elements are each on their own layer. I can save to just about any format, but only a few will preserve the layers. My email is pdarrah@sprynet.com (it's already been posted online for years so no big deal posting it here!) if you want to send the graphics. If you want me to send you the full file, drop me an email with your address and what format you would like.

You win....a cake for you:

Yep...that really is a cake!

LOL I feel so special getting a cake today!
Thanks ;)

Please say a prayers for my husbands friend. He woke up yesterday and found his wife dead on the bathroom floor.

OK, that is just so sad! I can't even imagine that. Prayers to them!

StephT...prayers to your son and his friends family! I hope treatment goes easily and is successful. Kids are such troopers during hard times like this!

Happy 4th of July to all!
We watched the Huntington Beach 4th of July parade...DS's drum corp marched in it, so it was fun seeing him. Off to a bbq and swim at oldest DS's
place in Irvine and then heading to my brothers for fireworks tonight in LaMirada! Busy day with family...gotta love it!

Pssst. Don't tell anyone, I've been lying low letting others get them.....

....now, that's not very pirate-y :rolleyes1

Hmmmm, I would have a tough time deciding that one too. I guess if it helps someone pack less, sure.

I changed my mind a dozen different times on FE Gifts (packing issues, cost, etc), finally found a great one. I found something that everyone is packing, but could always use some more :thumbsup2, and the kid's FE Gift is something that I even like to play with

Don't let that ear ringing go to long before getting it checked out.

Have fun in Boston. I'm jealous. I have only missed going in town to see them about 3 years in the last 20+ years. When I first started going the crowds were est. at about 100,000. That was 1984, I think. Now I think the crowds are up to about a bazillion  .Last year I watched from the Cambridge side and didn't like it as much. Nobody wants to trek into town with me this year :sad1: . I am waiting for them to do the F-16 jet fly over. They usually circle over my house at a pretty low altitude 5-6 times waiting for the perfect timing on the Esplanade flyover. It's pretty cloudy, but I hope they will still do it.

This is the normal most of the summer, late night early morning low clouds becoming sunny in the late morning and afternoon. When we really get a heat wave and the winds change to blow off shore it will clear up but that does not happen regularly. I will try to report on the daily weather from here out since people are starting to get ready.

Thanks, Roger

Congrats on the win!

Good one M! That will look very nice!

Thanks!
It will have a hidden Mickey before I'm done with it.

Beautiful tiara! Congrats!!
Most of the men in those shows are too in to themselves and other men, so what's the point anyway!?! I'd take my DFI dancing just for me any day!

Ahhh, young love.
Anyone been married more than 10 years who wants to see their DH dance??

I am really impatient with surprises! Tell me tell me tell me! :)

CRUISE TIP

As I was walking home tonight, I was thinking of the last cruise and a thought came through from the past.

The Tip is on this long cruise to go regularly to guest services for a printout of your stateroom account. Do not leave it to the end as there will be a long printout and you might miss something.

On my last Repo, after the first week I asked for a printout and found a few items that were not mine.

There was some drink orders in the Bars late at night when we knew we were not there.

I asked Guest services to check these and they were made by the 'paper' receipts not KTTW card.

Firstly DCL said they were mine in my name, but I insisted they were not.

A day later I was called to guest services to 'see' my 'bills'.

The bills were made out with the same surname as myself, and I clicked quite quickly what had happened, there was another family with a Cat 4 the same as us just down from us.

They had ordered these drinks and when guest services checked the signature it was the other party and they refunded my account.

So do check, mistakes occur and on a long cruise you might forget what you have or have not ordered. And it takes DCL some time to sort out and correct.

I think the clubs are the worst. I can see how it would be easy for the servers to mix up tabs. We had a few drinks that weren't our on our last bill. Removed them no problem.

Happy 4th everyone! We were up early. DD's choir sings before our parade and than marches. Great weather today, warm breezy and hardly any humidity! We had a fly over of a Coast Guard helecopter. (Thought of you and your DH M!) Usually they have fighter planes from Selfridge AFB come. The copter was nice, but they do fly frequently down the Detroit river!

So enjoy, don't eat to much and celebrate!

CG tries, but not nearly as exciting as an F15!

That's awesome!
Can I pirate: ???

on last years august repo they had 2 things on my bill that wasnt mine, they had me buying 4 or 5 coronas at one time. first off i hate beer and my wife hates it. than a guy added extra tip to my drink at castaway cay. i always add an extra dollar to every drink but i guess he thought it wasnt enough.

I recently ended up having a go-round with Great Wolf Lodge over a tip. I ordered 2 beers at the pool bar and charged it to our room. I tipped $1, call me cheap, but I refuse to tip more when I have to walk up and wait at the bar all a bartender does is remove the cap and hand it across the bar before I turn around and walk back to my chair. I tip way more if they actually make my drink or we are sitting at the bar. ANYWAY...we had an $11 tip on our bill. For $9 worth of ridiculously overpriced beer. After a 20 minute check out process while they talked about fixing it, 4 phone calls over 2 weeks, and a less than glowing online guest survey, I had my $11 dollars credited and a $75 gift card for a future stay. I think someone got in trouble.

Oh, dumb kids moments.... Like the time Christopher wanted to see what would happen if he closed his scissors on his lower lip? Bleeds a lot....

Not sure why, but that reminds me of my little brother. He was about 9 when he stuck a nerf suction cup basketball hoop to his forehead. He had a big, perfectly round hickey in the middle of his forehead for weeks! :rotfl2:

Twenty months? Has it really been 20 months? Wow. Someone could have had two kids in that time. They'd be nuts...but they could have.

Took me 21 months. And yeah, I'm nuts.

One-size-fits all speedo with Earl on the b***:rotfl2:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Fits all? Really? How's that work?

I'm watching him!

:rotfl2:

Premature Roger

Yeah, but he was before Cherie.

Wish I saw this earlier or had your number..we will be in La Mirada tonight too for fireworks (Mom lives there)..I could have brought you your lanyards! :)

Here is Version 2 with a couple changes Roger suggested. What do you think?

Please feel free to Pirate (the idea or the whole design!). As soon as we "finallize" it, I will post a higher resolution version which will print better.

Any other ideas/thoughts/comments? Each element is on a separate layer in the design, so it is very easy to make changes.
