OK Moms. How jealous are you?? DSs have been at Camp GrammyGrampy for a week & DH left a few minutes ago to join them in southern Ohio (Salt Fork Lake) for 4 days. I'm all alone.

All the dirty dishes in the sink will be mine. The only lunch I have to pack is mine. I can watch whatever I want on TV. I can go into the bathroom or talk on the phone without 3 people calling my name. I can eat peanut butter and chocolate chips for dinner if I want. This will be nice!

I am completely jealous. How did you manage that? I would love to have that opportunity for a few days. How many books are you going to read?:)

Very jealous:thumbsup2 Easpecially of the tv. I practically have to make reservations to watch ours and we have 2.

I'm sure it didn't help your cause that I was making crazy person motions behind your back when you were asking about it at the meet.

I wasn't suppose to see that, huh:rolleyes1
No, I don't think he will be fully convinced until he sees the wenches in tiaras himself:laughing:

No one bid against me! It was about $10.

slightly used :scared:

M....

.... Thank you for sharing this. I am amazed (and on reflection, not surprised) with the revelation. Somehow, this is so poignant - especially given the occassion we've all just marked. I think some may recall how my parents escaped WW2... running from the invading Japanese then having to turn around to run from the advancing Communists. Only to emerge from Ellis island to muse (1st) where are the soldiers w machine guns?... (2nd) and LOOK at all the clean new cars?.... and (3rd) We've finally made it out (of the horror of the past few years!). My Dad has often reminded me of what we escaped in his lifetime - and what America represents to us.... an incredible home for our children.

Maybe my thoughts are incomplete, almost certainly they are less then perfect, however they are what pases in this respectful moment as a result of Ms' thoughts above.

OK.. I gotta go now. We have 7 families meeting to hit Leo Carrillo beach today. For this we have those who fought and stand resolute to earn our freedom for our way of life.

Very cool Crash.
I love hearing the stories from folks who have immigrated here from harsh conditions. Helps me appreciate what we have here. I have a good friend from Italy who I never get tired of hearing her stories about her childhood. DH also worked with several people who immigrated from the Soviet Union years ago and he was very much impressed by their stories as well.

Just wanted to drop in to wish everyone a belated 4th. Hope it was fun and safe. After a busy short week at work, partying began Thursday night and continues though Sunday. (Thursday night was a Birthday dinner for a friend. Friday was the Giants game - go a little burn so you will need to excuse my farmer town in my formal dress unless I can get it evened out before we depart and then to a party. Saturday getting ready to go to the DCI show down at Stanford (which equals another party for me). Finally Sunday I will be getting a massage to help me recover, too bad there is not something to help your liver recover like a massage for your body.)

I browsed through some of the posts for the past week. So some comments.

I can add clothing sized 12-20 (am hovering at the top end these days but depends on the cut as to what I wear).

Love the name tag and the possible magnet for the door with all the craziness from on here.

I used to spend my summer's in DC when I was in elementary school. I loved the mall and all the Smithsonian's (with the air and space being my favorite). I would love to go back.

My thoughts a prays to the friend's family who's husband found his wife in the bathroom - how devastating.

To all of you starting to pack - keep those posts up as I need a kick in the butt. I should be doing something other than laying here in bed watching Wimbledon and surfing the DIS.

Well that is about all I can remember at this time - guess the drinking this weekend fried some brain cells too. I am still at GTY and check they are not offering any rooms anymore on the cruise, wonder if any will open up closer to departure. Enjoy the weekend!

OH SOOO Jealous here! LOL I always feel a little twinge of motherly guilt when I comment like that...but its a fleeting pain that goes away quick...hehehe

When I have had any decent length of time without anybody home...I usually sit back and listen to the quiet of the house. Then I crank up my music on Itunes and break out my scrapbooking stuff. Its so nice not to have to put it all away while trying to work on stuff. And like you said....eating, drinking, reading & playing anytime and anywhere you want! ENJOY!!

Jealous of you going to the Stanford show! What a great line up they have! Would have loved to go to the Rose Bowl last night to see that show too. You will appreciate this.... DS sent me a text message from the San Diego show last Thursday. He is a huge BD fan but Phantom was there and he said they were totally SICK! Which of course in his vocab means amazing!! LOL

Here are a few pix from last week

So here I am at work today... DW called me saying the next door neighbor called looking to take our 2DDs bowling w their 2DDs.

DW said to me "... but I feel guilty".
I said "Be thankful... and I think your nuts!"

That is exactly what I do ... only they are usually still home. The kids know not to bother me much when I am in serious scrapping mode. :)

Hey everyone! I was inspired to try and make a door magnet out of "our" phrases here on the thread. What do you think? Any suggestions or changes? Anyone who would like is welcome to use it, but I will upload a larger version that will print better once it is finished.

Congrats Mike!:thumbsup2

I did a load on our 7-day. It really wasn't that bad. I think the washers are a half an hour and of course the dryers are timed. The only thing I didn't like was people leaving their clothes in the dryer and not coming to get them. I waited 20 minutes for someone to come and empty out a dryer. Than I did something I don't usually do, I took out their stuff! An hour later and they still hadn't come and gotten it.
I've done that too! I did fold them though:sad2:

I wonder what it says about me that I did the third child ones with the first and only:lmao:

You know, I was just thinking the exact same thing! I only have my one DS and I think we did several of the "third child" things. Actually, I never even got his name written in the baby book - I finally donated it to goodwill since it was totally empty and unwritten in when he was 5!

Pamela

You all can count me in that group too.:rotfl: :rotfl: I did go back 15 years later and scrapbook though. But his cute baby book never got written in and was sent to the Goodwill.:)

Oh yeah....I hate you already. I just said yesterday that I HATE holidays and weekends when everyone was home. I wish they'd all go away.
I guess that sounds evil, huh? There IS a reason that I am an Escaping Mom!!

That's another reason!! I could just sit on my duff and read....heaven!

OKAY EXPERTS....QUESTION!

How hard will it be to hang the banner on Canal day? Can we just use really long tie wires?

And.....how will we know what time the ship's photographers will be out on land taking pictures?

Wire ties should work. That is what we used in marching band to attach our banners to fences and at my job to attach banners to the railing. If you use the wire ties, make sure you have something to remove them when you want to remove it. Narrow rope should work as well, but you need to tie it good so it stays.

The ships photographers will be off the ship from the first lock until the last. They took pictures all day long last time. We found about 5 or 6 pictures of our verandah with our banner.

We are hanging our pirate flag from the curtain rod since we have a cat 8. On CC we use those metal clips that have the spring latch on them to hook them to the umbrella.

I have the wire ties and will bring scissors. I wouldn't want to risk trying to tie a knot.

COOL CRUISE TIP

Just so that we aren't drying our swim suits or granny panties on a line on the verandah.....:upsidedow

I found some re-usable velcro loops. They're long enough to loop around a chair on the verandah, or through the wire basket that protects the light fixture on the verandah, and loop through the strap on a swimsuit, or a leg hole. That way, the suit can hang all night to dry and I don't have to worry about it blowing away in the wind.

I found them at Home Depot, with all the other velcro tabs...near where they have hardware for doors and chains and "s" hooks.

And the more I think about it, I may loop one over the closet bar and hang my necklaces on it so they don't get tangled.
