Getting up early tomorrow to go see the mass ascension at the balloon fiesta. At least, that is the plan. I don't think we've done this since Alicia was in 1st grade. It hasn't gotten any easier getting her up early.

I saw the adverts for this event - I have always wanted to see it -- pictures? I'll keep reading....Was it fun?????

Well today is packing day. No, not for the cruise listed above, but for the one we sail on next Sunday! Can't believe it is almost here. We leave Thursday for our road trip which is why we are packing today (well this weekend to be sure).

Mary - I hope you had a productive weekend......All packed?????

Hey Mary Have fun packing I know I'm not. Way too much stuff to still pack. I wish I were packing for a cruise that would be more fun. 20 years worth of "stuff" is an awful lot when you start seeing it in boxes. (still have lots to throw out too)
We got the keys to the house yesterday, now we get to clean and paint then start moving all of the boxes we have packed.

Time to get moving - literally.

Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend.

Vicki

Vicki and GaRRy - best of luck...I d not envy you with the packing and sorting. We have been here almost that long and have run out of places for storing stuff. Must start tossing, but then hey, this was a gift, that was a present. Let me know your secret please.

Jay & i decided we'd best get in gear and get the apartment finished. My parents are coming this winter YEA!! and they want to stay in the "new" place.
So today I'm going to clean out the closets here at the house and take extra sheets and towels over there. We still have curtains to hang, and towel bars and such. The plumber is coming to fix a leaky faucet and hook up the dishwasher.....

And it's raining here. Whoo hooooo.

Gosh - everyone is working on projects this weekend.......Wanna come help me tackle the porch when you are done with the apartment?

I keep trying to tell you guys...It's all ANIMATRONIC! Ask gaRry!!
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Funny story about deer on WDW property - We had taken Mother there for her 80th B-Day surprise...on the way back to WL, I took a wrong turn at Ft.W - and it was late and very dark --- when I went to turn, there were 3 deer - "Oh, poor things", explains Mother...."Poor things?", echoes Sam, "Are you kidding?, they are as fat as beer barrels".

These deer were eating the leftovers from the petting zoo and horse corrals.... and were as fat as ticks!!!!!!!

We had dinner at V&A with the neighbors. The kids went to there favorite restaurant.....Official AllStar Cafe, the sports bar. They managed to take advantage of the Funai courtesy cars.

Virgil, have you heard of this one?

So, Jim, where is the menu - what are the details - tell - tell....Was it a fun time (and I mean V&A, not the Allstar Cafe.....natch)!

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Monday!

We are about 95% packed. Cannas have also been cut down and dug up in the garden for the winter. So I think we are in pretty good shape. Now we have 3 days of work and then we are on the road.

I've been cleaning out our junk closet. I promise myself I will never use it as a junk closet again. If it's junk, it gets thrown out.

I found a bag shoved way back in the corner with some old newspapers in it. Date on the paper, October 14, 1987. And this was inside:

CopyofOurWedAnnounce1987.jpg

The picture had been taken at a friend's wedding, a month or so before ours.
Ugly '80s style dress or not, I DO wish I could still fit into it!!

Stacey - I know what you mean. I hate those old pictures. We were ALL so much skinnier back then. I have come to the conclusion that I probably won't ever be THAT skinny again. Skinnier than I am now...yes, but never that '80's skinny. But we can dream.......

Busy weekend for us... but then again, that's the norm. Saturday was football, as usual. Definitely a colder-than-average Saturday morning... I'm losing my New England tolerance for the cold, that's for sure! (Then again, everyone was in jeans and sweatshirts, and I was in shorts and a football jersey... oh well.) Christopher's team lost, 8-0, but Ray's team FINALLY won their first game of the season... those poor kids needed a win soooo bad!

Saturday night we went to a VIP Party for the Boggy Creek Camp Charity motorcycle ride that we did on Sunday. This year's VIP's were James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano), Ronan Tynan (the Irish Tenor, who sings at the Yankee games), and Billy Lane (a custom bike builder). Tony Soprano's sister (can't remember her name) was there too.

Sunday we did the ride (another CHILLY morning, especially on the bike)... over 1000 bikes from Daytona Harley to the camp, about 50 miles away. Outback caters the entire thing, so the food is good. (No camp food...) It is such a great event, and worth every penny that we donate to participate. It's one of the Paul Newman Hole-in-the-Wall-Gang camps for seriously ill children... what a beautiful place.

I feel sorry for all you guys cleaning out clutter, but I think Augie and his sisters have you all beat. How about cleaning out your parent's house of 57 years??? Talk about junk. My in-laws were kind-of pack rats. The big joke around the house was when my FIL used to say, "it's in the attic". Well, he wasn't kidding. He's probably laughing his butt off right about now watching them get rid of all that stuff. Can you say DUMPSTER?? :rotfl2:

I even took the menu home to post over the weekend...so sorry - But to get your taste buds rolling today - Here is to the RED, WHITE and BLUE!!!

Another food booth for you all to try that we did not get to...And people wonder why we need to go twice in a season :rotfl: I think Matt sampled the BBQ - last year the Lobster roll was tasty.....

USA

Maine Lobster Roll
BBQ Pork Ribs with Grilled Fresh Corn
Blackberry Cobbler
Chateau Ste. Michelle Chardonnay
Albemarle Rose
Rancho Zabaco Heritage Vines Zinfandel
Sterling Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

No house cleaning projects for us this weekend - goodness knows we need to. We inherited a friend's chairs after her house redecorating and now they are sitting in the middle of the family room. But, in order to arrange them it will start a chain reaction of arranging and cleaning out in various other places. So, for at least the next week, they'll sit in the middle of the family room.

This weekend - Friday night - musical-sound gremlins creating havoc on Friday the 13th; Saturday - soccer, roller skating birthday party. Mr. Gatti's (think Chuckie Cheese but for the older kids) . Translated as Anniversary lunch - Pizza;Anniversary Dinner Pizza - all with lots of kids no husband :teeth: husband across town taking pictures at a 10 mile race then at the church trying to control the sound gremlins who struck during Friday night's show. Saturday night - another show. Sound gremlins under control. Sunday -take kids to church - dh taking pictures in the pouring rain of another 10 mile race. Matinee musical and then cast party dinner at Applebee's. Sunday night collapse into bed.

Monday am - oops forgot to wash ds' gym uniform - it's 7:45 bus arrives at 8:15. He'll have to take it dirty and we'll wash it tonight. Where's the uniform... :confused3 mom did wash it on Friday - BUT it is still in the washing machine and wet...Quick throw it into the dryer - 8:15 shorts dry and slightly damp shirt - oh well - at least it's clean...

collapse with a cup of coffee and catch up on :laundy: - Mary, Mark and Bear PLEEEAAASSSEEE take me with you :worship: :worship:

We had a good weekend. My best friend came in from Louisiana. We had a good visit. She left early this morning.

I don't envy those having to clean out. It's definitely something that I need to do. My closet is full of clothes that haven't been worn in YEARS.

Mark & Mary, have a great time on your cruise. Once again, I'm jealous!

I worked on my scrapbook some this weekend. Emily asked when we could go again. Wish it was sooner than '08.

Finally got the exterior paint colors settled. We submitted a 2nd proposal to the architectural control committee on Wed. evening. The shade of green was a little more muted with a little more gray. The HOA board president called Sat. evening & said that he had been out of town. We got the impression that he thought the ACC was out of line denying our request. He handled everything yesterday & called last night to say our 2nd request was approved. I'll take some before & after pics. I think it'll be next week before the painter can even start. We have some wet weather coming through the next couple of days.

We did that with Jay's dad. And he had a house and a business to empty out. They were definitely pack rats from that generation!

As I was doing all this cleaning out, I kept wondering if I shouldn't just leave it for my kids to have to do when I die. I'd hate to make it too easy for them. :smooth:

I'm thinking it's a lost cause for me. I lose 5 pounds and it just comes right back, overnight.
I think the only reason I was thin back then was because I was too poor to buy food!

Irene...these two closets that I had to clean out didn't hold any memories or gifts. All junk in one....games, art supplies, gift wrap....that kind of junk. Now what's left over is in neat bins. Whew.
And the other closet was the linen closet. I didn't keep any of the old, mismatched towels and sheets. Why I DID in the first place is beyond me!

Okay, Monica and Kiki....you have me beat and I'm exhausted just reading it!! :faint:

Angie, did you think about showing this other guy your first paint choice? I wonder if he would have gotten it approved? Glad you're happy with the second choice, though. Pictures please!!

I DREAD the day when my parents are both gone. My mom is such a pack-rat and they have 2 houses.

I definitely liked our our 2nd paint color choice over the 1st. So, it all worked out in the end. I'll definitely take pictures.

She just went to get a plane ticket to NY.......... :rotfl2:

Yup, just what we need. Another household worth of stuff. I think we've already got three or four in here. Back to work!
