Time to start VACATION!!!!

House sitter arrived yesterday - We started packing last night - With a scale....Hedgie says forget that - go on a cruise where they do not weigh luggage.

Kevin and Diana - how do you manage with the dive gear and cruise clothes??? Our cruise suitcase weighs 15 pounds - empty - ok it is not going to St. Thomas.

Lots to do.....I can't believe I am not ready!!!! Well, wetsuit and swimsuit is packed.....

Dive bag gear 25 pounds
It does get interesting! Alicia and I (if diving) each have a bag that is strictly dive gear. I have a wonderful dive bag from Stahlsac that is quite nice, but the darn thing weighs 18# empty. Haven't used that in awhile. We got some $50 rolling duffle type bags and use those for the scuba gear. They only weigh 8# each. :yay:

Then the rest of the clothes are arranged in other bags according to the owner and need.

Then you have the photography gear....... :rolleyes1

Some of us are still hanging around, just not posting. :wave: I already said I'm on the shy side, so it will take me a while to jump in.

OK, I believe that this group may take awhile getting used to, :crazy: but the shy comment comes from a gal with over 8700 posts??????? :rotfl2: :lmao:

Come On, You can do it!!! :cheer2: :woohoo:

Wow... I actually had some pages to catch up on!

Hmm... an NCL cruise... we love NCL because of Freestyle... no dinner ressies, no 'who's sitting with who'... we'll be doing NCL to Bermuda in Late-June of '08 for my parents 50th... you're all welcomed to join us!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Back from Vegas. Left my house at 3:30AM on Tuesday... had to be in Vegas for an 11:30 meeting... yet another case of 'planes, trains and automobiles'.

We had dinner at Le Cirque on Tuesday night... oooooooooh my!!!!!

I had:
Traditionnel Gaspacho de Tomates aux Arômes de Melon et Crabe (Tomato Gazpacho with Dungeness Crab)
and
Noix de St. Jacques Rôtis, Asperges Blanches enrobe de Jambon de Parme, Sauce Madère
(Roasted Scallops with White Asparagus Wrapped in Prosciutto, Romaine Lettuce and Sauce Madeira)
and
Lobster Risotto
and
Chocolate Souffle that I could have sworn came from Palo (but was MUCH bigger...)

Some great wine - Rentaria... which I thought was odd having California wine at a French restaurant... but they had over 1000 wines on their wine list, and a great somalier.

(I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.)

Irene - I thought of you on Wednesday night, we had a casual dinner at a traditional Irish pub that is part of the shopping village at the Ritz-Carlton just outside of Vegas... HUGE Smithwick's sign greeting us at the door. Wonderful food... and we were the ONLY people in the place... the 6 of us had the whole restaurant to ourselves.

I did manage to LOSE 2 lbs on this trip... probably because it was over a mile walk from my room to the conference room... in the same building. (I HATE the MGM Grand for that reason.)

Got back into town at 11PM last night... 12 hours sleep over 3 nights... and now I'm off to camp with our church youth group for the weekend... I think I'll pass on the ropes course until I get a little more sleep in me. Back on Sunday, then its off to Tampa Thursday night for the Jimmy Buffett concert, then to CT on Sunday for Thanksgiving. I'm going to need a vacation soon!!!!!!!

We had booked a week at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, but when we won the II trade we put in a search for the Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club which is on Oahu but not on Waikiki. It came through today for the week before our original plan.

OMG, that place looks gorgeous. When we thought we might go to Hawaii last year, that was the place I was looking at. Can't wait to hear all about it. When are you planning on going???

Good morning all -- probably afternoon for some of you already. Our car is packed and we are getting ready to leave for our road trip to Midland for the Texas All-Star swim meet. Wish us luck, hope Ashley has fun and does well.

See ya'll later. I am taking my laptop so I may check in while we are gone.

A bit different Kareoke offering today, in tribute of Remembrance Day for our Canadian neighbors as well as Veteran's Day/Armistice Day:

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

If a veteran offers you a poppy - wear it with honor!

And then for Garry and Jay!!!

U.S. Marine Corps Hymn

From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.

Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

Pain seems worse each day rather than better...what's up with that? I'm already so sick of it....I can't imagine 6 weeks of this.:worried: Whiner.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEMPER FI

GARRY AND JAY! Who else do we have?

God Bless All Our Service Men and Women!

Just for fun...took this out back a couple of weeks ago........sun was going down, and it was raining in the mountains way up north. The ones that burned a year or so ago......

Kevin was a Navy guy, does that count? His oldest son was born at the same hospital I was, the Naval hospital in San Diego. Not the same year, though.

Irene, my solution for packing dive gear: I let Kevin do it! And I highly recommend those Smart Carts at the terminals. They're $3 or $4 to rent, but you can put all the big bags on them. I don't care what anyone says, rolling a 50 pound bag all the way through an airline terminal hurts!

Stacey, sorry to hear about the continuing pain. Won't your doctor give you a nice pain med prescription to get you through this? Or one of your doctor friends?

Happy Veteran's Day to Kevin! (tomorrow)

The doctor did give me Vicodin....which works for 4 hours. But also makes me sleepy, so I try to only take it at night...or just a half of one during the day.

Just dawned on me that I'll have to work around this stupid hand for Thanksgiving. Guess some of my family members will learn how to stuff a turkey....and time all the food to be ready at the same time!

This might be the excuse you need to book a last minute Thanksgiving cruise so you won't have to cook dinner! :rotfl:

House sitter arrived yesterday -

Do you get someone from the local zoo as a house sitter? :confused3

I'm not sure anyone else would be qualified to take care of all your creatures. :lmao:
