Stacey, sorry to hear about your friend's dad. You need to keep yourself injury-free!

I had a BAD morning. I had my 1 year follow-up visit with the surgeon scheduled for today at 10:00. When I got home yesterday afternoon there was a message asking me to come in for 7:45 instead. So I left the house at 6:20 this morning & gave myself PLENTY of time. As I was getting off one highway (GA-400) to get to I-285, the guy in front of me slammed on his brakes. I slammed on mine. The guy behind me tried to swerve to miss me but swiped me. He broke the driver's side tail light, punctured the tire & scraped up that back quarter panel. I in turn hit the guy in front of me. Because of the metal LSU license plate on the front of the truck, the front bumper got damaged. The guy that hit me kept on going!!! The guy in front of me got out & looked at his car, waved to me & left. I've been so busy with work that I haven't gotten a chance to call the insurance yet. Not sure what this will do to our rates. It technically shouldn't do anything since it wasn't my fault.

Needless to say, I was late for my dr. appt. The good news is that everything is fine with my back.

I am so glad your back is A-OK - it's a hassle and frustrating dealing with a hit and run, repairs, and insurance :grouphug: In spite of all that your back is fine!!! :woohoo:

People think that just because you have "nice camera" that it automatically takes better pictures. There is so much that is involved with lighting, composition, exposure, etc. that you have the potential to take great pictures, but that can be true of the smaller prosumer cameras as well. Just learn how to use what ever camera you have and that will go a looonnnngggg way!!! :thumbsup2

The above message is of general info only and has no bearing to people that are family, or who have posted previously.........
:rotfl2:

But, nice cameras also reduce the chances of blurry motion and fish-butts - or in my case - soccer butts... so, in that case nice camera does=better pictures... :thumbsup2

(My disclaimer: This is from a non-photo-educated-wife-who-will-occasionally-use-dh's-really-nice-camera experience... As long as the nice camera has a "dummy mode" - I'm happy!!! )

Angie! What a lousy thing to happen. But I'm glad your back is good, and glad the accident didn't cause you any trouble with your back.

I told Jay when we were at the doctor's office that I'm lucky that I fell forward and not backward....that would kill my back.
So, the doc thinks that I did, indeed, break it this time. Had the xrays, just waiting for the radiologist. Looking at 6 weeks in a cast.
And gaRry...I'm not sure what color I want.
This one finger typing and backspacing for errors is a pain!

Getting good at left-handed mousing, though.....:teeth:

The camera I'm looking at is at the Holiday Gift Shoppe...so it would be free. It's a Nikon...and I think like Diana's...the D50, I can't tell for sure. I'm not sure if this is a bad thing....it has 6.1 megapixels and my Canon has 8. Does that mean that it would be a downgrade for me?

Be careful stacey!

At this rate - your dr will issue you a key chain tag to swipe for payment :rotfl:

Hm - colors - if it'll be about 6 weeks - I'd say Christmas colors - will it be off in time for your next cruise? If not, match your formal... :thumbsup2 You know, is it coincidence, all of your accidents have come as you were getting close to cruise time... :confused3

Don't get to hung up on the pixel count/war. Marketing guys have been pushing that, but that is not the only thing that will make a good picture. The glass the lens has, focus and exposure controls are bigger issues in my book. Some of the older Pro models have only 6mp too. Are you going to be printing poster size photos? If not, then you don't need a really high pixel count camera anyway.

If you go that way, the lens you get can make more of a difference than the pixels. Another thing to consider, is if you go with a brand like Nikon or Canon and get lenses, then you should stick with that brand of body.

BTW, Hope you feel better soon!!

Mike is calling this Black Wednesay based on election results. :( Ya know what though....I don't even care anymore. They are all sheisters. :(

I know I am late in this, but this is the first chance for me to get on today.

I took Lisa to the gym tonight. Don't know what Sharon has going, but I got the duty today.

OH....I do believe this is the first time I agree with you. They are all sheisters!!!

Just proof that miracles do happen, Scuba and OH agreeing on something. :thumbsup2

A quick note - on the road again and the laptop must stay at the office - so Good Morning Early.

Stacey - your friend and family will be in our prayers. How sad for her....
Ang...EEk --- but glad you are ok.
Stacey - Just stop it.....no more accidents.
All you camera nuts ???? Hey, I still use film....have fun.
Politics - no more adds, no more calls, no more flyers......

Gotta rush.....

HA! Why do I hear the Hallelujah Chorus in my head???

actually, I think there was one other time oh, maybe 10 or 11 months ago, where we agreed on something. :lmao:

So, the radiologist's report was "inconclusive due to swelling". Right now, they don't see any fractures, but they want my arm/hand completely immobile, elevated and on ice all weekend. Then I'm to see an orthopedic surgeon for consult and new xrays. Whoopee.

Monica, I thought about that whole "cruise time" thing too.....but since there was always a cruise planned, it wasn't hard for it to be bad timing.;) Since we have no more trips planned at all until "our" upcoming '08 cruise, it'll be interesting to see if I stay healthy and in one piece until then. :teeth:

Kevin....did you see the disk from the Mom's cruise? It gives you an idea of the type of landscape shots I want to take. And then there's your famous full moon over the ocean shot that I'd love to imitate.......
I'm wondering if I can get those same (only better) shots by just learning how to use my Canon better...and using different lenses with it? Even if the Nikon would be "free", I could get Christmas gifts instead. Know what I mean?

HUH????? Bones aren't affected by swelling.....

Definitely sounds like you have a radiologist that is affected by the National Plant of Radiology - Also known as the HEDGE!!!!!

Does the radiologist have a relationship with the orthopod? Sounds like total BS to me....

I've always enjoyed taking photos of landscapes (hence Diana's lament that there are never any people in my pictures). I guess it's more of a effort to remember and cherish the beauty of the places we visited and keeping a part of that memory alive.

The Canon you have is definitely capable of producing some great shots (which many of yours would qualify). That said, I've really enjoyed the different lenses I own and the ability to take wide angle shots, close up macros and of course, those telephoto shots!! If you get the DSLR, you might find it comes in handy for a lot of things, but then there is the learning curve and the desire to take your photography to the next level.

However, there is always a place for the easy to use, stuff in the pocket camera that has been so prolific these days. You can only take the picture when you have a camera to do it.....

Lookee there, a second opinion!!! :thumbsup2

Stacey -- so sorry to hear about your arm. Hope you are feeling better soon and hopefully it is not broken. Pixie Dust also for your friends and their family. What a tragic thing.

Angie -- Thank goodness you weren't hurt this morning with the sideswipe and awfully good news about your back.

I KNEW I should have gone to the ER last night instead of waiting to see the doctor! Jay just didn't want to get dressed and spend half the night at the hospital.

This is the 3rd time we've heard the same thing....that a fracture didn't show on an xray until later after the injury. Garry's arm didn't show a break at first, either...so I accepted what they said to me. Hmmm....so you mean the radiologist just didn't want to commit to a diagnosis? Or he wants to get paid twice? Far as I know, he doesn't know the ortho.
All I know is that it hurts like a son of a gun......and even with ice and elevation, it's swollen so tight I feel like I could pop. Like the weasel. Get it? Ha. I guess I broke my sense of humor.

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Thursday!

Another busy day for me. Looking forward to our road trip this weekend!
