EXCELLENT! May is going to be a GREAT month for you!......................

Hi joining in again and my aim for May is to walk 20 minutes each day and to lose 7 lbs over the month. Thanks for organizing this thread to keep us all motivated :flower1:

Well I'm doing great on the walking :) but rubbish on the weight loss :(
I've lost 1 lb so far but at least that's heading in the right direction I suppose instead of staying still. Hoping positive thinking will help me stick at it :)

For me the Scale Twilight Zone is killer. I have stopped weighing every day as the fluctuations were driving me crazy and sabotaging everything I was trying to accomplish. I now weigh once or week or every other week, usually first thing on a Friday or Saturday. I have been stuck in the same 5 lb range for about 3 months now. I hoping these challenges will get me moving downward again.

Good Morning!! Happy Tuesday everyone! Here is your QOTD for Tuesday, May 12, 2015:

Well.... today is NATIONAL WOMEN'S CHECK-UP DAY! I know we aren't ALL women here ;) but it is certainly an important topic to discuss!

So.... when was your last physical? How about your regular screenings (mammogram, pap, prostate exam, colonoscopy, BP, cholesterol, eye exams, etc).... are they up to date? I will be the FIRST to admit I am terrible about this kind of stuff! If it weren't for my DD and DH (but primarily DD) I would be YEARS behind on this stuff.

What are you OVERDUE for? Can you/could you call TODAY and get it scheduled? If not, what is KEEPING you from doing it? Insurance issues? Lack of funds? Fear? Could you find a way to get past the issues and get your screenings done?

***************************

Off to work both jobs today, then I will leave directly from there to head to DD's school to help her pack up tomorrow. The next few days are kind of up in the air craziness and not totally nailed down, so if by SOME chance I don't get on and post a QOTD any time over the next few days, do NOT be shocked.

Not sure if I will have any computer access today, so I'll say good-bye for now!..................P

Positive thoughts will help, of course! And great job with the walking! I read a study recently that said that it is HEALTHIER to be overweight and ACTIVE than it is to be healthy weight, but sedentary.... so regardless of the scale, you are getting healthier!!

OH my gosh... that (bolded part) sounds just like me!! I started to FINALLY lose a bit in early April (like about 2.5 pounds) but then stopped losing again and even gained a bit. I am SUPER DUPER frustrated that I cannot seem to get back to my "happy weight"... but I keep trying.

Hi all! I"m here teaching 4th grade again. Class is at gym, so I have a few minutes but that will be it for free time today.

Bought the TASTIEST watermelon this weekend and DH and I have been gorging ourselves on it! Good thing I don't have to count PPV for fruit! :) Also bought kiwi, cantaloupe, berries, and bananas. I brought a HUGE container of fruit salad for today.... ate part for snack, will have the rest after my salad at lunch time. And I brought some big chunks of watermelon and a 2 PPV Cabot cheese snack for my "between jobs" snack. But didn't have anything easy to grab for dinner ( I didn't want to worry about having dirty tupperware containers with me since I'm not going home tonight), so dinner will be on the road (unless I can find the time to dash home between jobs). Wish I had thought to grab a WW instant pasta cup.... I could have warmed it after my WW meeting ( we meet in a church with a full kitchen) and eaten it along the way.... and then thrown the cup out in the trash! Ahhh... well, thought of it too late.

I'll stop rambling for now! TTYL................P

Funny Pamela I'm eating a melon melody for snack today too. Great minds think alike :)
Chicken curry for dinner tonight. Can't wait and it's homemade so healthy to boot :)

Qotd. Screenings up to date as drs office sends out spot automatically when they're due and healthcare is free so no cost issues. Easier to keep appt than cancel it :)

QOTD. Just went for my screenings after being lax for 3 years. Finally went because I kept getting reminders FROM the insurance company that I was past due for screenings that are fully covered by the insurance.

Good morning all! Welcome to your QOTD for Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

Well wouldn't you know it......National Frog Jumping Day is here again! :rotfl:Since I forgot to buy you a gift, you wil have to give yourself a gift....the gift of a STRONG BODY!

In addition to eating a healthy on-plan diet, what is your "go to" form of exercise to keep your body strong? Do you mix things up or stick with a standard routine? Cardio, weights, yoga? How do you make sure that it stays a priority on your schedule? ............P

Good morning all from sunny Rhode Island! Drive here last night was blessfully uneventful. Hit a little construction on the roads outside Boston that slowed me down a bit but other than that and a potty stop it was a straight shot.

Gotta confess it was closing in on midnight when I realized I had missed my mile.I didnt want to walk alone and DD was studying, so the walk didn't happen. Oh welll....live and learn. I didnt get my walk in while at school because it was either raining or threatening to rain a good part of the day.

I mat try to go back to sleep for a bit right now. DD's alarm wont be going off for another 2 hours and I didn't sleep real well. I'll pop on later to say hi!..........P

I have been so bad and stress eating. DD was up all night with a bad ear ache.

Wish I could find a free day by day eating plan to follow I really get sick of thinking about what to eat.

As far as exercise goes I mix it up but my go too exercise is walk/hiking. If I have been bad and not on track I find it the easiest to do when out of shape. Once I am in a routine I switch it up more.

QOTD for Tuesday:

I am getting better with keeping up to date on stuff like that. I know that I am about a month overdue on a dentist appointment. They always promise me that they will call me when it is time, but they never seem to do it. So, I guess I should give them a call.

QOTD for Wednesday:

Running and Jillian Michaels DVDs are my go to things. This past week I have been trying to rest a bit as my foot was hurting. It seems to be good again. But since I am running a 5k on Saturday with my sister (her first ever), I want to make sure that I can run on Saturday. But I am starting to feel that I miss my exercise!! I hope the foot will be fine on Saturday and I can resume my routine. I often find it hard to keep up with exercising. But when I get to do it regularly, I realise how much better I feel.

---

Pam, sorry that you missed your mile, but I think you had pretty good excuses!

5xdisneyfans, sorry about the stress eating!! I seem to remember when I was using Sparkpeople, they had the option of giving me meal plans. Have you looked there? I am sure that there are free meal plans out there to follow!

---

Somehow I am not very motivated this week - yesterday I ended up snacking quite a bit of my weekly extra (7 points over) even though I have been trying to conserve the weekly extra for tonight's meal with my parents. It reminded me of the reason that I decided that I should eat more on a daily basis. I guess if I eat my 26 points for too many days in a row, I am starting to feel very deprived and hungry. I guess it is a sign that my body needs the fuel. So, in the end eating those extra points was still the right thing to do, I just wish I had eaten something healthier than chocolate... As I said above, I am missing my exercise and that is not helping. But the last two days my foot felt fine, so I think I am ok again. I am really looking forward to moving again and to resume my Jillian Michaels workouts. I was really starting to see some results for them, was able to do some real push ups even!!

Flossbolna feel better soon :)

My go to exercise is walking though I like swimming too Sometimes I just can't face the drive to the pool etc. walking works because I can just do it from anywhere :)

QOTD for Tuesday: I keep super on top of my exams. Probably because I'm in medicine and see all the things that can go wrong. Also between free healthcare and work benefits it's mostly covered, so why not?

QOTD for today: weightlifting is my favourite. I love barbell squats although sometimes I get distracted checking out my quads while I do them. ;) I kind of hate cardio, but I skip (rope jump?) a few times a week, do boxing with my trainer once a week, and I've been working on my running recently. It helps when I set up on a treadmill close to the free weight so I can watch what's going on there instead of watching the timer.

This week hasn't been great for me, my seasonal allergies have kicked in. Runny nose, coughing, sneezing, lethargy, the works. I've been trying not to binge but it's so tempting when I don't feel well. Succumbed and had pizza and a sundae last night (no regrets! maybe some regrets). I've been pushing through my workouts, although I must look nuts at the gym because I carry around a huge wad of tissues with me so I don't get boogers all over my face. =P Here's hoping for a short allergy season.

Happy Thursday everyone!! We have a public holiday here today (ascension day) and I am enjoying a lovely sunny day. I feel like I need to head outside but am a bit at a loss as to what to do and where to go. I already walked into town to have a coffee and sit and read my book. Since all shops are closed, I can't even go out for some errands. But I guess instead of being on the DIS I really should try to be a bit active!! Still resting my foot for the run on Saturday, but I really have been painfree for quite some days now, so it seems to be good again!

oh heavens to Betsy...I don't know why I thought I'd have time to read and check-in on this months challenge with graduation! I have been busy to the 100th power...thinking of you all lots and trying to make good choices and keeping up on my WO. I will return in june!! Happy MAY and pixie dust for big losses for you all!!!

Good luck Magdalene on your race today! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Thank you!! I saw your post just as I was getting ready!

I am not happy with my time - I had a 31:05 time. I could have been faster, but the race was just soooo full with people. Not enough space. I was hoping to finally have a time under 30 minutes in a 5k, but because I did not train that much, I did not really expect it. But now that I realize how close I got to the 30 minutes and that when I knew that I was not moving as fast as I could because of a crowded course, I am a bit disappointed. But it has motivated me to keep up running. And my sister really enjoyed her first race ever, so we had a fun afternoon! We celebrated with getting a nice slice of cake from a special bakery. All in all we both had over 20.000 steps yesterday with doing some errands, the race, walking to and from the race course and then to the bakery...

Today was a lousy eating day with sitting on a train that was late and overcrowded (seems to be the theme for this weekend). But tomorrow it is back to be on plan and I am also planning on being done with eating for the day now. And I went for a nice walk earlier.

The good news is that my foot did not complain the slightest yesterday or today. So I am thinking I am over whatever it was that bothered me. Today I am a bit sore, but tomorrow it is back to restart my exercise program!

Hey DisBoarders -

Here's a belated declaration of my goal for this month...

So far this past week I dug out my old old WW materials from about 2009... I have gone back on the really old plan and have been sticking to it about 5 days now. The new plan has never worked for me... So I'm back on the Momentum plan if anyone remembers that, basically it pays to choose high fiber low fat foods because they have the lowest point values. A lot of one point snacks to eat all day while sitting in my cubicle (Zzzzzz).

I need to figure out if there are any super low point value cassaroles out there. I'll check over on the W.I.S.H. recipe board for ideas. I used to make this zataran's chicken alfredo from a box that was about 3 or 4 points in one cup. Until they discontinued it. Any similar ideas or suprise store bought cassarole ideas if you have any?

Hope all are well, and wishes for a good week!
