2015 Annual Christmas Gift List Ideas for TEEN GIRLS

When you have a daughter that draws as much as mine does, you learn to find the bargains. The Prismacolor set I bought her was slightly less on Amazon that with a 50% off coupon at Michael's. She really likes the markers, but I think she secretly wants the copic. There are also online classes that can be taken to learn how to use the markers properly. Thinking of looking into one of those for a gift too.

Your daughter must draw as much as mine :)

I am so used to having to buy markers in only one place (no variety or choice where we lived). I am excited that I get to bargain hunt now (even though the pens are far from bargain priced, lol). I know K watches a lot of videos on drawing techniques, and she's taken manga classes in the past. I never thought of looking for an online class though. Great info again, thanks!

Basically they plug into a TV's HGMI port. You can access Amazon Prime shows and Netflix if you have a subscription. We don't have cable so we just watch Netflix. A fire stick is cheaper than a Roku or Apple TV Box.
Got it..thanks....

I have 2 DDs. The oldest is 16 & the youngest will be 13 in Jan. I have an adult friend who had surgery last week so I picked up an adult coloring book for her. When I was shopping I also found an Extreme Dot to Dot book that I thought my younger DD would enjoy. I just looked on Amazon they've got lots of different ones. They look pretty cool. I think I would enjoy one.:teeth:

I also would like to know what the teens use to color with: penicles, crayons, markers??

I got my DD a set of colored pencils at Barnes Noble that were shown with the color books. MArkers would bleed thru these pages...She really likes them and the pack was around 25 or so pencils all in various colors. Iw ould stick with the colored pencils, the artist kind not Crayola etc.

We are getting our daughter (14) a marimba (used). She seems to have a talent for it, and practices quite a bit after school when she can. It will serve as her Christmas gift every year until she graduates high school! But we still want her to have a few things to unwrap. She loves to bake so I am making a basket of baking ingredients and a few recipes I think she will enjoy making with me. Possibly some new cookie sheets, mine have seen better days. For those considering a ukulele, DD got one last year and loves it. She already plays guitar, bass guitar and said ukulele was easier. She was able to play several songs quickly. For an older teen, stay away from plastic ukuleles, they don't have a good sound. There are great beginner ones that are wooden for not much more money. Go to a music store and try them out before you buy.

Aeropostale.com has a code for free shipping tonight, with no minimum order. And lots of clearance items.
Code: NOSLEEP
I just grabbed DD a nice shirt for $8.
Even if you just want accessories- socks, jewelry, etc... worth looking when they have a free shopping code with no minimum.

For those that are looking for deals on Copics and Prismacolors I got my best deals on the Copic's by using the coupon from Hobby Lobby and buying the set. I did get a good deal on some Copic sets on Amazon. Prisma's came from Amazon as well. Definitely sign up for a sight like camelcamelcamel.com and use the price tracker.

DD(15) wants a dslr camera for Christmas and I found a deal on eBay for a used Nikon D5100 camera, kit, and case for $270. I couldn't pass it up since the newer version is over $600. I haven't bought her anything else yet. She wants to fabric her bedroom walls since we aren't paying for another paint job. I swear the girl changes her mind like the wind changes direction and I just can't afford it. So she will be fabric covering her walls. With that she wants new sheets, quilt, and comforter. Besides that she's having a hard time deciding. More than likely the bulk of her Christmas budget will be spent between Hot Topic, American Eagle, and Pac Sun

Apparently adult coloring books are cool with teens now. Ordered enchanted forest by Johanna basford from amazon along with nice pencils. Intricate fantasy type color books designed to reduce stress.

I saw that they have an "Outlander" coloring book now. I thought that was unusual but after readying your post I guess it makes sense.

Today I ordered the small Haunted Mansion Dooney from disneystore online. Crossbody one. I have the bigger one for myself and LOVE IT. Thought DD16 would like the smaller version and if she doesn't I will take it over!!!! They also have really nice version of Inside Out Sadness Doll. TAlks. 19.95 super cute and wayyyyy nicer than the ones at toys R us. We saw Inside out on our ABD Adventure BAckstage Magic this summer and loved the movie so I thought this was a sweet reminder of the trip.

My list so far: New bedsheets, Dooney Purse, Catan Game or whatever that board game is that teens seem to really like, possible ukulele , drawing paper/color book/pencils, really pretty London scenery book, urban decay make up, Inside Out Doll, . I use to finish soooo early when she was young but too hard now. She doesn't really get into the season until December so it is hard to predict what will be a hit vs a waste and honestly I am SOOOO done wasting money!!

In my kids' HS, the girls who drive all wear Vera Bradley lanyards with their car keys attached to the end. Maybe girls at your DD's school do something similar?

I have two teen DDs. I bought one a hanging makeup bag that rolls up to put in a suitcase. (She is a competitive cheerleader and has several multi-day competitions out of town.)

I also got both girls a Clarisonic Mia 2 for washing their faces. I got one last year and LOVE it! I was able to get them from Nordstrom during their Anniversary Sale so saved quite a bit. Sephora carries them, too. I got mine there in a bundle with several cleanser samples so, even though they might not be reduced in price, there are some extras included.

My oldest DD is a Senior this year, so I have also been slowly getting some dorm room decor as I find things on sale. I may put a cute decorative pillow or similar under the tree.

Hi can you help me understand the benefits of Mia? I have read about it on/off over this Christmas board last 3 years. Neither DD nor I have acne - does it do more than prevent acne? What are benefits of it if you already have clear skin? Is the Mia 3 better than Mia 2 or not worth the updgrade? Have never used a Mia at all as you can see! Best place to get it for best price? I saw nordstroms now price matches..love that! Thanks for the help!

I don't have the Mia 3, so can't speak to that other than to say I believe it has 3 speeds. The Mia 2 (which is what I own and purchased for my DDs) has two speeds. I also think that the 2 (and probably the 3) is more watertight. I know there is a body brush head available for purchase, so you can take it in the shower. I haven't used it, though.

They are designed to remove makeup and skin oils 6x better than hands or a washcloth. I don't have acne and my DDs only have regular teenage stuff, so not really bad. I feel that it gets my skin cleaner and also allows the serums, lotions, etc. that I do use to be better absorbed. I really feel that my skin has improved in the almost year I have been using the Mia. I hope that by starting good skin cleansing habits early, my DDs will have better skin as they age. One DD is a competitive cheerleader so wears heavy competition makeup and the other is an actress and wears stage makeup.

I bought mine at Sephora during the Christmas season last year. It was not discounted, but included a full-size ($26) cleanser, a travel case, and some smaller product samples so I did get a "deal." I bought my DDs on sale from Nordstrom during the Anniversary Sale. Theirs do not have the product samples, but I think they would prefer to choose their own cleanser. I also got a replacement brush head and some clairisonic cleanser and lotion samples as a 500 pt reward at Sephora earlier this year. Clairisonic routinely sends me emails with discounts since I registered my Mia. Hope you enjoy yours if you decide to purchase one! Hope that info helps you! I'm sure that a salesperson at Sephora or Nordstrom could tell you more about them as well.

Very helpful. Thanks! I am going to order one for DD....Nordstrom has certain colors 20 percent off if anyone else is interested!

Just ordered the shikibox (Japanese subscription box with lots of snacks...only got the 4x yearly order) for December delivery (they take a long time to deliver, apparently)

On the list are:
Art snacks sub box
Blow drier
Laptop (any suggestions for a cheap one that will still play some steam games?)
Clay art variety box from Costco
Ultra fine sharpies
Coloring books for adults
Possibly a hair straightener (even though her hair is mostly straight!! Don't know why she wants one?)

One the laptop, from experience, a cheap one isn't going to do well with steam games. You need one with a good graphics card.

DD and I both have straight hair and use a straightener. When we sleep Un our hair, we both get weird creases them need fixing, and I find that mine looks much better pulled completely straight.

Thanks for the reminder on the Japenese treat boxes! I decided to go with the Skooshbox b/c apparently they ship on the 30th of the month and it arrives by the 4th of the month so very short transit time compared to other companies. I debated on a subscription as I think she will love this but I am going to do the Dekabox (big one) one month and if she likes it have another one for Easter....(or maybe February for her birthday). I saw that Clay art box at Costco too and loved it. I use to buy all that clay years ago for her at Michaels and now here it is all in one great box. Where was it when I needed it??

We got DD an Alien gaming laptop few years back. She loved it for about a year and then just stopped playing video games. I was shocked b/c she really loves them but has realized she is more into the pokemon, Mario for the DS type. We got her an Xbox as well for playing with friends and that rarely gets use either. We sold the Alien for a pretty good price on Craigs List after having it about 16 months . But it was a great machine with a great graphics card and that brand name is highly recommended, along with MSI, for computer gaming.

Haha...that was my first thought when I saw the clay pack at Costco!

And, this is what i think will happen with my dd. She played one game on my computer, that was it. She hears about games, likes to try them and then she is back to watching you tube videos and listening to music. I thought if she could just have one that played a little, but not serious...

Exactly stupid iPhone wins all the time!!!!!! I wish her contract was up that would be the perfect Christmas surprise!!!

i am having a hard time coming up with ideas for DD13. I did get some ideas from this thread last year, so I hope more people contribute. So far, none of the ideas posted here are anything my D would be interested in. Well, maybe the hair straightener. I must admit to being puzzled by the Japanese snack boxes?? Never heard of such a thing and we can find most of those snacks in our grocery store and even Walmart carries them. She wants a phone, but that's not happening (will be grade 8 grad gift instead). Small gifts are easy - probably some Roots socks, a movie or two, books. Some gift cards. I'm considering a new hockey stick or tickets to a NHL game. Need to find that one special gift though, and I'm really stuck. I'll keep checking back to see what others have posted! thanks
