Sorry if this question has been asked but how long does it take to get from GF to MK using the monorail? My family will be staying at GF for the first time in December (we are so excited!) and were curious. We have EMM one morning and we unsure what time to head to the monorail. Thank you!

Hi Grand fans! We have a rescheduled trip from last week at Poly CL to 12/10 - 12/15 GF CL theme park view! Yay!! It's our first family trip - DS is 7 and DD 5. Any tips on a room request? We should be able to see Wishes from our room with a TP view right? Upper floors? Any must dos? We have park days well planned but want to spend some time exploring GF too! Thanks y'all!

I think higher floors get you the best views, but I was over in the villas. My daughter (4) loved both the Pirate Adventure cruise and the Wonderland Tea Party. Highly recommend. My husband and I had tea while our daughter was doing the tea party and it was fantastic.

We are checking in the 10th! So fingers crossed here too! I think we might see the beginnings of some decorations. If not at least the MK will be glorious right? I went with my girls one year around 11/5-6 and they were just starting the gingerbread house (and giving out samples...YUM). Perhaps later in your trip you have an excellent change of it "beginning to look a lot like Christmas"

Fab! I will hope for you to. You can be my informant as to what stage its at, if at all . I am sooooooooo excited about staying there without the gingerbread house! I was able to print off all my travel documents yesterday so it all seems very real now . Roll on 4 weeks

Oh and I love that Christmas song, it's one of my favs! Let's just hope it has a meaning whilst there!

Just got back from the Grand. At check in I was told we were "upgraded" from a garden view room (I was fine with a garden view) to a Lagoon View. We went out to the parks and came back to a Dormer room on the 4th floor of boca chica. We only spent one night there. The balcony was tiny and the sloped ceiling made us feel claustrophobic. When i went to the front desk to change the cast member said people pay extra for that view no way I would pay extra for that room, it also was slightly run down tears in carpets, some wear and tear furniture and rugs. I have to try and remember the room number but it was on the 4th floor of boca chica.J

Just went back it was room 8431 in Boca Chica

They moved us to room 9302 in big pine key and it was a beautiful room with a great view of the pool and garden.

One time the resort monorail was not working. We were coming back from Epcot and waited what felt like forever to a bus back to the monorail! We had to take a cab back to the grand floridian. Also one day for an 8am opening at the magic kingdom the monorail was not working so we took the boat that day to the magic kingdom def get the times guide at the front desk so you are aware of any monorail closures. We loved the grand wish you could just walk to the mk it would make that hotel perfect!!!

Sorry to jump in but just wanted to share that I've only got 31 days until we check into the GF for the first time!

Would love to walk in and see the gingerbread house up or being built! What do you think the odds are? Check in 12th Nov. Keep your fingers crossed for me please

We have 34 days! We typically go in Mid December when ALL the decorations are up, so this year will be a change for sure. I too am hoping the gingerbread house will be in progress. I think it would be very cool to watch as it goes up...oh and that aroma!

Thanks! That was taken by the photopass photographer, since it's only kids and the characters at the tea party. I have a bunch more that are equally adorable, so we really lucked out with whoever was doing the photos that day.

Less than 2 weeks now till my first time staying at GF(VGF). Does it matter whether I go directly to main building or to the villas building to check in (not from USA so I have to go to front desk to get my magicband) Anyone here ever have any experiences checking in at VGF (I am renting points) that know where I would go. Getting excited, never dreamed I would be able to stay here.
Do the water taxi's all connect at Magic Kingdom? Or do they go directly to the other hotels on the lake?

As far as I can recall, The boat from the GF goes to the Poly first and then to the Magic Kingdom. The boat from the MK goes to the GF first and then to the Poly. The WL/VWL boat usually goes to MK and back directly but there is also one boat that goes from WL to FW and then the Contemporary/BLT

I would recommend checking in at the VGF Lobby, unless you arrive in the middle of the night. The cast members in the VGF lobby are great for check-in. And they can give you your magic bands.

Less than a minute once the monorail starts moving -- varies between 41 and 47 seconds -- but who is counting?
