We had a night planned at Victoria and Alberts during our stay. Our kids were going to go to Gasparilla Grill for dinner. I wonder if they could eat in GF Cafe or 1900 Park Faire by themselves now that it is closed. They are 15 and 11.

I had my 16 year old niece and her 15 year old friend have breakfast by themselves in the GF Café while I attended my conference. They didn't have any problem and used their magic band to charge to the room. The other morning, they ordered room service for breakfast. They did enjoy the pool bar selection for lunch and had no problems there either.

Quick GF transportation question....

For over a decade we have been a POLY family....over the years we noticed certain times the Monorail was packed and you could barely get on heading toward MK
With GF being the last stop, is the monorail standing room only often during morning and evening?

We started taking the boats back to POLY at night to avoid the Monorail crowds....but kept using it in the AM...well except for when it was broken.

So is it better to BOAT from GF or Monorail? Each way?

We got seats every time we rode in September. You're only on it for maybe a minute anyway, so even standing wouldn't be bad.

I've never had a problem with monorail in the morning. At night I prefer the boat. I've noticed CMs at park closing with signs funnelling the crowds to the resort monorails to get to TTC. Making it useless for Poly & GF guests to get back to resort without long waits at park closing for monorail.
I think it would be fair to reserve a few cars on the resort monorail for GF & Poly at park closing. Or what are we paying the $$$ for to stay at a monorail resort?

Since Gasparilla's is being refurbished, I wonder if the rooms at the GF will start to be refurbished again? I'm surprised that the restaurant is going through another lengthy makeover.

We've never had a problem with the monorail going from the GF to the MK -- there were a few mornings when it was standing room only. Since we like Kona Café for breakfast, we've done a lot of boat rides from the Poly to the MK -- which is nice as the Poly is the last stop on the way to the MK. We also take the boat back at night - it is our traditional last ride of the day!

Thumbs down on Gasparilla refurbishment. We are less than 30 days out, and this is the first I've hear of this.

I doubt it, rooms were refurbed not that long ago. I think the Gaspy refurb last year had more to do with the kitchen than the restaurant.

Is anyone there currently or arriving soon? Could you do me a huge favor and take a photo of the room service menu?
What about Mizner's, will they still be offering their normal menu in the evening? Or will it be a hectic mess?
Grand Floridian Cafe, is the takeout menu the same as their regular menu? Where can we sit if we do that option?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, we have 3 resort days during our stay, trying to figure out logistics.

I like your bombardment of questions--I have the same ones. Upcoming trip is 3 adults and we picked GF because we plan to spend most of our time relaxing around the resort with several meals planned to be either quick service or appetizers at Mizners. We'll make it work and still have a great time, but I am curious now how this works.

I was just there last month and there was no renovations taking place at Gasparillas when my wife and I ate there. As for room refurbishment, one can only hope :thumbsup2

When was the last time you were there? It's very nice.

Hopefully someone will see our plea for help and give us the lowdown! ;)

We were at the GF in February. I'm not sure what you mean. I'm bummed that the construction is going on during my trip, especially when this is an adults-only trip with lots of Mizners and resort time.

Was just curious simply because of what changes you'd might expect. There is no construction going on at the GF now, as of September. Nothing going on at Mizners either that I'm aware of.

:wave2: I am another one who would love to see a photo of the room service menu and any other info that would help.

Desperately trying to figure out what options we have for our arrival night ( 9pm ) without having to go ' out ' after travelling all day with 2 little ones :scratchin

Gasparilla's is closed. That's why we are all wondering what our exact options are. The info I have seen is vague. Will Mizner's still be a lounge and offer their same food menu, or would we have to go to Citricos (hopefully not) for the lounge atmosphere.. For those of us with kids we are curious of what our quick service options are after 9pm, or where we will sit after ordering take out. The pool bar qs may not be the best option at night or early mornings when the weather is chilly.

We were looking forward to sitting at Mizner's with a cocktail in hand and a few appetizers, which is actually the plans for our first evening there. Would be easier to know what to expect beforehand and adjust accordingly.

So, we have a Water view.....any suggestions on the building?

We prefer a quieter location away from the hustle and bustle ....We are all healthy and can walk to where ever....
