Here is our garden view :goodvibes

Checked into BCV yesterday and everything going great. Spent yesterday at mk and Epcot. Crowded last night at Epcot but we still had fun. Dinner yesterday at cape May which we all enjoyed. They brought a bday cupcake out for DS and an anniversary dessert for us. Breakfast today at captains grille which we all loved, we had the buffet. Spent the morning at Epcot and got everything done we wanted. Fantastic time so far :)

My only issue was at the chip & dale character great today. DS was having a great time visiting, we were trying to get him to walk alway from them (though we certainly not taking longer than anyone else. One of the character handlers muttered next to me something about us saying to hurry up, we were wasting time. She said it right next to me. I thought it was hurtful. DS has autism and had a great time, but what she said hurt me

All this talk about getting a garden view upgrade or a deluxe room had me thinking...so I called but there wasn't any availability...we will stick to our standard view club level at the military rate. The cast member on the phone said garden view and lagoon view on club level have a max occupancy of four adults and we are a party of 5. Oh well...we are splurging enough because we usually stay at a moderate resort but since it's my daughters 16th bday we are doing it at the beach club since all of you guys on here say it's da bomb....I'm sure none of you are biased!

I also called the concierge and just like Teena said, they expect the whole fifth floor to open up at the end of November. Now we just have to wait for the park hours to get posted online so we can plan out our days! I found a website that had hours from June 2014 so I've kind of come up with a rough draft plan...hopefully the park hours and EMH are similar! I'm curious...for those that have stayed club level, how has your experience been handing off all the reservation making to the concierge folks? I've filled out the itinerary they emailed me and will fax it over soon...we are getting close to our 180 day window...a few more weeks away!

I have only done CL at AKL, but the experience was good. They got me everything I wanted including dinner at BOG. I must confess I was very nervous about giving over control, I was sitting at work anxiously waiting for confirmation emails. I also felt like something was missing not having to chase adrs, sick I know, bit apparently I like the hunt.

If there is something you really really want, you might want to try for it just to make sure, but it worked out for me. Concierge told me that they have 95% success rate, but that it varies based on how many guests they have at that time. Not sure if that an across the board rate or AKL's rate.

When asked what my favourite thing about Disney is, I've been known to say "the oatmeal from the club level lounge". People look at me like I'm a bit crazy when oatmeal is my favourite thing from Disney.

I'd be seriously crushed if I stayed CL and they didn't have the oatmeal.

This last trip we didn't stay CL, but I did enjoy oatmeal from the Marketplace in the Solarium. It made me fall in love with the Solarium.

So what a way to end our fabulous trip...

Needless to say, I end up in the back of the plane with flight attendants, I get to speak to the pilot, the plane nearly gets diverted all while DH is trying to calm the guy down which he did manage to do, thank GOD!!

We land in Providence much earlier than expected (pilot was on super speed) and we all get met at the gate by the police. Passenger gets taken away and we are left to make statements.

You really can't make this stuff up...Thank GOD we made it in one piece...scary, scary stuff :scared1:

Holy cow, mommyrosa. That would be scary and surreal, I think. I'm glad you made it home safe. Your husband must be the terrorist whisperer.

Champagne at checkin :cool1: Was that at the YC or BC? We are staying CL at the BC, last year when we checked in they offered us beer or wine!

Funny - the one thing we didn't get at check in was our champagne. I remember being annoyed that we not only got the dumpster view, but no champagne. I didn't even think about it until I saw so many people checking in and getting their champagne. This was our first view. Again, not the worst, although you could see the dumpsters pretty clearly (the picture is from my iphone, so it's all further away than it really was). But the beeping trucks were pretty miserable. And the Disney site says nothing about a service area view, which this one clearly has. I know the SV rooms at WL are described as possibly looking over the service areas. Ah, well. They were able to move us and we had a fabulous trip.

This was view number two, which was much, much closer to the lounge.

My hotel rule is never take the cheapest room. I find you have more wiggle room if there is a complaint about the room vs them acting like you are trying to get something for nothing. Never had that happen with Disney, in general with travel. But I always book garden over standard views.

I would have booked GV, too. I can't recall why I didn't, but it was either because the GV rooms only accommodate four (we were a party of five), or they didn't have availability. I really wanted a deluxe room, but they only had those available at the BW. We vastly preferred SAB to being spat out the mouth of Pennywise the Clown.

And I love CL. As much as I love the YC/BC, I kept trying to talk Amara into taking the magical deal at the Poly, staying CL. This kid never, ever talks me down when it comes to money. And she pointed out it was twice the price, we couldn't walk to Epcot, and who knows what the new pool will look like versus the awesomeness of SAB. The last time we stayed CL at AKL, the IPO was able to get us the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's for our tenth anniversary. Not too shabby... I love staying CL.

Had a dream last night that I found an amazing vintage VW camper van restored to perfection and at a stupidly low price. Started a random trip with my mom only to discover she was a pod person. Rethinking the VW van now...

We have deluxe rooms at the BC ... they are really nice and sleep five and although they are not on the fifth floor, they give you elevator access to the lounge and concierges.

Ah - I think they had no availability (I was using a BB rate), because I wanted the BC first. If they come out with a decent-ish deal for that time frame (I think they usually do in the late spring), I might see if we can upgrade. If not, I'll just be happy to be at the BC. We'll only be a party of four this time around, so we can stay just about anywhere. Six is a tough group to sleep anywhere. It's not that I wouldn't stay at a value resort, but I had a friend (who's as obsessed with Disney as I am) who booked a room in one of the suites at AOA. They moved to the FW cabins (which they adore) after one day because they couldn't take the chaos. Everywhere else, it's either a suite or two connecting rooms (which I've heard they guarantee if the adults are outnumbered, but I've also heard they can't). We usually rent DVC points for that reason, because even with a discount the suites are crazy expensive.

We stayed in one of those rooms in 2011. I don't remember the room number but it was an amazingly large room. We had 2 balconies - one large full balcony overlooking the quiet pool and one standing room balcony overlooking the lake. It was as nice room! And we LOVED the 5th floor -we all talk about it often. It is the measure of anything luxurious - the "5th floor" is referred to all of the time! Great trip!

Our kids are extremely jealous - my DH & I are taking an adults only trip in February to check out the 5th floor of the Yacht Club. Jealous is an understatement!

Car comes at 8:30 tomorrow morning to take me to the airport, hoping for a garden view like Mystery's.

So what a way to end our fabulous trip...

We literally just walked thru the door when we should have been home two hours ago. Let's see...

We board plane, find our seats, DH decides for the first time that he wanted an aisle seat so I sat in the middle. Plane is full and one of the last passengers takes the window right by me. The plane hasn't even left the ground and. I'm pretty sure I have a terrorist sitting next to me. Plane takes off, we're not even in the air 15 min, and said passenger starts acting strange and keeps hitting my leg with his and appears to be real agitated. I'm starting to get weirded out, DH switches seats with me. DH asked if he was ok, this guy says he speaks a few languages and proceeds to make very scary comments in Portuguese and is getting very loud.

Needless to say, I end up in the back of the plane with flight attendants, I get to speak to the pilot, the plane nearly gets diverted all while DH is trying to calm the guy down which he did manage to do, thank GOD!!

So we are 5 days from our first stay at YC! Super excited!

Teena - I think my daughter played with your Lily last July at GF in the courtyard pool! I was reading this thread and remembering our chat in the pool. I'm pretty sure it was you! We will look for you when we check in on Friday!!

I only work Sundays and Mondays and I am flying out to Jeanne's and Lily's on November 4rd. I took off Monday (11/3) so I hope you stop by the BC lobby on Sunday so we can catch up!

I will definitely look for you on Sunday!

Hello, just a quick question...We have a Garden View room booked and my only request was upper floor, close to lobby. Is there any chance this would end up being a wedding gazebo view? I have looked at the resort map but just cant seem to wrap my head around where the lobby is in relation to rooms. Thank you! 19 days to go!!! :cheer2:

I am in 3093 now.. (Checking out this morning) It is the view above. It is very close to the lobby elevators. If you ask to be "near 3093" you should be good for either the quiet pool (even numbered rooms) or wedding gazebo (odd numbered)

Beautiful. Glad you have settled in!

I don't understand people that people think they can cheat and smoke in non smoking areas. Especially at YC where the smoking area is one of the best areas in the resort. Just lazy/sorry I guess?? :confused3

I am freezing my butt off at the airport. 53 degrees outside and close to 40 in here. Flight at 11:30. YC and warmth here I come
