So what a way to end our fabulous trip...

We literally just walked thru the door when we should have been home two hours ago. Let's see...

Magical express was late picking us up and by the time we got to the airport we had an hour before boarding...ok, not an issue. We go thru security but somehow managed to take the tram to the wrong terminal...yup, we did. Soooo, we hop on the tram again, go back thru security and made it 15 min before boarding. Highlight? We see NinjaMom waiting for her flight and we get to chat for a few minutes :).

We board plane, find our seats, DH decides for the first time that he wanted an aisle seat so I sat in the middle. Plane is full and one of the last passengers takes the window right by me. The plane hasn't even left the ground and. I'm pretty sure I have a terrorist sitting next to me. Plane takes off, we're not even in the air 15 min, and said passenger starts acting strange and keeps hitting my leg with his and appears to be real agitated. I'm starting to get weirded out, DH switches seats with me. DH asked if he was ok, this guy says he speaks a few languages and proceeds to make very scary comments in Portuguese and is getting very loud.

Needless to say, I end up in the back of the plane with flight attendants, I get to speak to the pilot, the plane nearly gets diverted all while DH is trying to calm the guy down which he did manage to do, thank GOD!!

We land in Providence much earlier than expected (pilot was on super speed) and we all get met at the gate by the police. Passenger gets taken away and we are left to make statements.

You really can't make this stuff up...Thank GOD we made it in one piece...scary, scary stuff :scared1:

Not the ending I hoped for ... your trip was so fantastic up to that point. Thank goodness your hubby (who Bob now calls his BFF) was able to calm him down a bit. Get a stiff drink and go to bed and unpack tomorrow!!! Miss you already!

Holy Cow Rosa!

No one would sit next to me on the plane but I don't speak Portuguese so go figure!

Actually I had a very nice seat mate sitting next to me. I even bought her a Bloody Mary with one of my frequent flyer drink coupons.

All I can think of is that it was a good thing your husband was there. That guy didn't stand a chance with Mr. MommyRosa2 around. I think if he would have tried to make any kind of a move it would have been lights out for him.

Rosa- that is a scary ending for your trip! For all that went right when you were at Disney, it all went south as you were headed north.

:scared1:

Glad everyone is ok and that you made it home.

Hope you can take it easy this weekend, because all that relaxation from your trip flew right through the window (seat) next to you.

:grouphug:

Sitting in the CL lounge right now and waiting for Magical "Depress":sad:.

I did just want to take a moment to say again that this trip will go down as THE BEST time we've had here thus far and I thought we've had some pretty nice trips. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we ended up extending our stay an extra day and to say that we're actually going home from a Disney trip relaxed would be an understatement.

From the pixie dust at both resorts, to having dinner with such a lovely group, to meeting new friends, to trying new things, to F&W, right down to the awesome weather....Everything has just been amazing and I really couldn't have asked for anything more!

This thread really does have the best group of folks, the BC and YC have some pretty amazing CM's and this trip just confirmed what we already knew...the BC/YC really does feel like home :goodvibes.

So scary!! Glad you made it home safe.

Goodness, what an ordeal. Obviously the Disney Magic didn't follow you to the airport. So glad you are safely home. :)

These are "after" photos. When I was there late June, all of the furniture was out for reupholstering. I really missed having a place to sit in the vestibule, waiting for the ME.

When I returned in July, the furniture was back in place, with the "new look."

Thanks for confirming that!

:thumbsup2

Thx for the pics of the showers... I actually was just talking about this yesterday with my husband....The possibility of sandy feet coming back in from the pool! Yet another question answered before our first BC stay in 17 days :). Thank you!!!!

B&YC FAQ- Answering Questions Before They Are Asked!

;)

Just wanted to give a shout out to Natebenma for doing a sweet job of keeping this thread organized! It has become my number one resource for our upcoming trip! Jun 6-18, 2015!

Thank you!!!

:goodvibes

BTW- All my friends call me Dee. Well, actually, everyone does. Except for a few people not in the know who call me "Diana"

:coffee:

I am updating the Page 1 posting about Stormalong Bay. I still have pictures and reference the "Sinking Sands"

I know there are still some sand bottom areas of the pool, but are the really cool but kind of creepy sinking sands history now?
.

:confused3

I haven't encountered them in my last couple of trips. There used to be a white buoy with red lettering that said "Sinking Sands"- I have a picture in the SAB post- but I haven't seen that lately so I didn't know if the sinking sands were still there. I appreciate the confirmation:

Yay I know the answer to this one. (if you are talking about what I think you are talking about) when we were there the week of the 4th around the volleyball area there were random spots where you would sink down into a hole if you stepped in it. My daughters found two and would keep trying to trick us into walking through them. They loved it!

Thank you!

:cool2:

We found them in August, too. It was cool. :) I honestly think my kids love the resorts as much, if not more, than the parks.

Thanks!

:flower3:

Our flight takes off @ 6am tmrw! So close to s F&W extravaganza! Of course, I woke up today with a bit of a cold so I'll be loading up on vitamin C, Zinc, etc... Can't. Get. Sick.

Have a great trip and I hope you feel better.

:cool1:

We fly at 9 AM Sunday. I can't wait!!!

Wishing you a wonderfully magical trip!!!

:woohoo:

I take off Sunday at 11:30 a.m. To start my 2.5 hour trip to Disney and YC. Excited, but now is when I begin to worry about airport hassles could be because last two trips started with flight delays. And why can't clothing pack itself?

Safe and hopefully, delay-free travels. Have a great time. I hope you find some cooperative, helpful clothing!

;)

Thanks for all the info everyone. We booked a magical deal for YC Aug 28-Sept 5. Looking forward to SAB and the water parks.

Great information on this thread! It will be our first time at the BC/YC. It's along time away so I'm going to have to live vicariously through everyone going before!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 of this thread.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:cool1:

Here and checked in!

We have a room overlooking the gazebo and lagoon!

Bad thing that happened, when I went to get my scooter, the people next door decided to smoke in their room. The hotel is booked and moving meant getting a room facing the quiet pool. They cleaned the room again and it smells perfect.. So we stayed.

Hanging by SAB and sorry NM, I do hear construction noise.. But I am in construction, so I notice it more

Thanks for checking in with us with an update. That stinks (literally) that your neighbors were breaking the rules by smoking in their room. Very disrespectful and wrong!

:sad2:

So glad you had such an incredible trip (up until the not-so-great ending)

I agree with everything you said above!

Amen to that. Glad you had a great trip while at the World and glad you made it home. I'm just happy the guy on the plane didn't say that "E" word or you may not yet be home!

So I have had to change my trip dates from Jan 11-15 to Feb 1-5 ...I am ok with this, but now I have a room dilemma.

Originally, I booked though Disney- YC,GV,CL for $1710.

When I rebooked, I booked through orbitz. They didn't have Garden View Club Level. But I was able to book YC,SV,CL for $1,478.

My dilemma is the view. I can still book my Feb 1-5 days through Disney and stay YC GV CL if I want to for $1,710. Is it worth $232 to upgrade to GV? I have no idea if we will be spending any time on our balcony because I don't know what the weather will be like in February.

What would you do? And if I keep the Standard View - what is the worse case scenario that I would get for a room? Any requests I should make to avoid the bad scenario?

The view will be either a parking lot or roof. No request is going to change that unfortunately.

My personal opinion on standard view:

Think about when you are in the room. Will you be sitting on the balcony or standing at the sliding door staring out at the view for any length of time or will you be sleeping, changing your clothes or showering? I don't spend time looking at any view except when I walk into the room the first day. Then I walk out on the balcony and either say, "yuck" or "wow" and that's pretty much it. In the over 100 times I've stayed at a Disney resort, I have NEVER sat on a balcony or spent more than a total of ten minutes looking at my view. Yes, the last time we were at the Grand Floridian, our view was the lake and monorail and I actually have to admit I probably looked out at it a total of 3 times the whole stay which is far more than normal ... but that was because Lily was there and she kept screaming about the monorail.

Some people actually spend time sitting on their balcony. I think it's when the other members of the family are napping/sleeping. Maybe then I would splurge for a view but I certainly don't come to Disney to spend time sitting on a balcony and looking at a view. I'm either at the pool or at the parks. I only spend money on a deluxe resort for the size of the room, the amenities and the LOCATION. That's just me though.

Only you can decide whether that amount of money is worth seeing something "green" instead of a parking lot or roof.

Thank you, Teena!

I am in complete agreement and we vacation that way as well. We rarely spend time on our balcony while we are at WDW. I guess what I really want to avoid is a noisy service entrance, a dumpster, or a bus stop. I can handle a roof or parking lot - but I would like to avoid truck/bus noise, if possible.

Rarely hear that complaint but if you should get a standard view room that has a noise problem like that, just go back down to the front desk and ask for a room change. Shouldn't be a problem!

Just arrived! The champagne welcome for CL guests is a really nice touch. Love the hard-boiled eggs and cheese options at breakfast for some protein!

Check out the Yacht Club Room View thread on the Resort Photo subforum- look at the Standard View and Garden View rooms on the 5th floor to see some samples of room views. I believe that the worst case scenario is up there.

I'll change your listing on the Be Our Guest list.

Let us know if you decide to change to GV. (There are only a few rooms in that category at the YC and I think most of them are represented and there is even info about bedding for those rooms)

:thumbsup2

woah - a couple of those standard room views are pretty bad (and some are not bad at all) - but I can't chance it :) It's an extra $232, but I can save myself some worry about getting that dumpster view!

Teena has some good points, but who knows - this will be a relaxing adults only trip & there could be some balcony time after all. DH likes to sleep in, so I could easily spend some mornings with my coffee on the balcony. I guess I will have to make a point of it now - LOL!

Just returned from a really nice stay at the BC. Room was clean/fresh and only issue I really noticed was a rusted sprinkler head on bathroom ceiling.

Here was our view.

It's official - YC CL - GV Feb 1-5 - 99 days to go!

Champagne at checkin :cool1: Was that at the YC or BC? We are staying CL at the BC, last year when we checked in they offered us beer or wine!

I had a pretty bad view when we first got to the YC. I think I posted it on the YC view thread. I also posted it on the worst view thread. The problem isn't just the dumpster view but the service vehicles that start backing up at five a.m. We were lucky and they were able to move us to a room closer to the lounge with a much better view. When I get home, I can post the photos again. Honestly, I wouldn't risk it, either. We might have been stuck with that first room and by the end of the week, I'd have been psychotic from being up at the crack of dawn every morning.

My hotel rule is never take the cheapest room. I find you have more wiggle room if there is a complaint about the room vs them acting like you are trying to get something for nothing. Never had that happen with Disney, in general with travel. But I always book garden over standard views.

We can thank the unhelpful Fedex agent who told me I can't expect everything when I take their cheapest option. Meanwhile I had it shipped to my work because they try and deliver to my home in the morning, but kept bringing it to work after we closed, and I took the only shipping option the company I bought from offered. All I wanted was for her to tell the driver to come before 5. So now I have a travel rule and a dark mark against FedEx.
