It's 9 days before we leave and I'm trying to figure out how to fly to WDW instead of driving the dreaded 18 hour drive. The flights between MDW and MCO on Southwest were ridiculous from the get go.....you used to be able to fly for less than $100 per person each way. For this family of 5, I don't mind paying $1,000 on airfare. The cheapest fare I saw was several months ago at $150 and it kept creeping up to $176. I refuse to pay $1800 for us to fly! Well, last night I discovered Allegiant flies out of South Bend, IN which is where we will be on our departure day. It would be $270 per person round trip. Yay, right? Nope, because they fly into Sanford which means we would need to rent a car. Car rental prices are crazy, too! ME doesn't pick up at Sanford....only MCO. So with flying and renting a car, it's still $1700 for our family....which is almost the same price as if we had booked it with Southwest. ARGH! :crazy2:

Why do I do this to myself? :badpc:

I'm sure this post makes no sense to anyone but me but thanks for reading my single digit pre-trip meltdown! :scared:

Sometimes I have luck last minute with bestfares.com

awww yes forgot about the new pin required that makes me feel better about it! :)

Have you tried looking at Tampa on Southwest? It's so much cheaper from where I am that even if you add in the rental it's a good deal !!!

What do you do with "room charge" keys while at the pool. My intent was to just take one of the kiddos cards that say how many of us are in the room that we have coded non charging.. however if we all have to have our keys I don't know where to put the keys once we are at the pool area????

Everyone must have their own key to get in. I keep my key with my stuff at the chair. You need a pin code to charge anything to the card so u should be safe

awww yes forgot about the new pin required that makes me feel better about it! :)

Leaving the key card at the chair is one option. As mentioned, since a PIN is required to charge, and no room number appears on the card, it really is not much use if someone takes it.

Another option is to use one of the lockers in the health club for the keys and any other valuables you may take to the pool (camera, cell phone)

A third options was discussed a few weeks ago:

Check Amazon or Google "water wallets"

We have had these two for years, probably over a decade.

We prefer the smaller one because, well, it is smaller, but still holds all we need. You can supposedly put a small phone or camera in these, but I wouldn't risk it.

I'll also take this opportunity to post one of my marginally related tips:

Bring a pad of paper and pen to the pool area. That way, you can leave notes for family members at home base if you separate:

"In lazy river. Back at 3 pm"

"Gone to refill my mug"

"Spotted Johnny Depp over by the hot tub. Not coming back"

Couchy, I gave my husband the driving experience in 2001. He still talks about it and wants to do it again

Hello! We haven't been to WDW since 2/12, so this is the first I'm hearing of PINs to charge to the room cards. Do you get to choose your own PIN or am I in big trouble? Remembering things like that isn't my strong point. Thanks!

Had the most lovely chat with Mary. Apparently Mr and mrs Banks finally saved enough $$ to take all the children to WDW.

No.... I can totally relate!!! My DH has a company car therefore free gas... Which is wonderful if my 3 kids weren't so bad in the car. And it is small. Lol I am still trying to figure out how to fly. Lol the cheapest I can come up with is $1500 for out family of 5. I check everyday. :-))

Baaahaaaa!

Just heard from Teena. Bob saw the doctor this morning.

"California Here We Come!!!"

:beach:

Sounds like he won't need the second surgery immediately- they will see him in 6 months to evaluate the blockage then.

And more good news... Bob has been given the ok to drive himself to Starbucks!!!

Teena will be joining Robyn and her family for the preview fireworks at the Dessert Party at MK tonight.

Thanks again, everyone, for the prayers, thoughts, kind words and friendship !!!

.

Great news. :cool1: So glad Mr Bob is Ok and Princess Lily here we come.

Wanted to thank everyone for the live updates and pictures. I've had some computer hard drive issues so not getting to check in as much as usual.

Me Neither!!!!! It's gonna get pretty crowded in that hot tub!

Second the thanks for the tip! Good idea!

Plus, now I know to pack my sexy, Johnny Depp hunting suit...

OMG!!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
Is your suit like mine? Covered with camouflage so he won't see me when I pounce and drag him off!

Johnny Depp is 50 now

I feel old

So am I!
HeeeEEEERRE boy, come closer, that's it, closer. Now drink this nice Sunkin Treasure and follow me to the basement.... PS. Wear that pirate costume!

Congratulations on doing well! :thumbsup2

Here is what you missed:

Bob was operated on but now he is better. Teena and Bob's vacation is back on.

537 readers of this thread have a trip upcoming to the resort sometime in their lifetime. We have some new posters who were brave enough to join the "Be our guest" list and we have 37 chickens who still have some sense and are lurking so as not to have their reputations tarnished by associating with us "Riff Raff!" :thumbsup2

Couchy is monitoring the chair hogging situation at Storm Along Bay (It's High chair hogging season don't you know!) She has successfully deployed the "find-an-unattended-chair-with-just-a-towel-on-it-and-then-relocate-it-to-a-new-spot-and-use-it" strategy. There was no loss of life nor limb and she has turned a lovely cinnamon brown color despite the clouds and rain.

Catho72 is desperately looking for cheap airfare for her upcoming vacation and she is seriously considering shipping the family and it's belongings to WDW via Fed Ex express to save a buck or two. All this angst is so her Margarita and Sangria trust fund will have some extra dollars in it. Her family will also not be roaming the pool area 'nekked' as everyone has found a suitable swim suit (which will be left at home no doubt, necessitating yet another crisis).

Dee is all set to go to the resort. Now that they have real Coffee available she will end her boycott of the resort and be seen wearing a hat around the parks that looks like this:

And finally, Buzzy's plan to rule the world is coming to fruition. His mind control techniques are proving successful as he has managed to insert himself in peoples dreams with the hope that one day, one of his minions will sneak over to the Boardwalk and bop the clown slide on the nose. My bet is that Ocalla breaks down first and does the dirty deed.
