It's 9 days before we leave and I'm trying to figure out how to fly to WDW instead of driving the dreaded 18 hour drive. The flights between MDW and MCO on Southwest were ridiculous from the get go.....you used to be able to fly for less than $100 per person each way. For this family of 5, I don't mind paying $1,000 on airfare. The cheapest fare I saw was several months ago at $150 and it kept creeping up to $176. I refuse to pay $1800 for us to fly! Well, last night I discovered Allegiant flies out of South Bend, IN which is where we will be on our departure day. It would be $270 per person round trip. Yay, right? Nope, because they fly into Sanford which means we would need to rent a car. Car rental prices are crazy, too! ME doesn't pick up at Sanford....only MCO. So with flying and renting a car, it's still $1700 for our family....which is almost the same price as if we had booked it with Southwest. ARGH!
Why do I do this to myself?
I'm sure this post makes no sense to anyone but me but thanks for reading my single digit pre-trip meltdown!![]()
