2012 Free Dining Watch and Wait HERE

Not sure how many people are having trouble getting Pop but I just got off the phone and was able to get 2 preferred rooms at Pop with FD no problem for 8/25 through 9/1. You might want to call back and check!!

I am so upset I have my reservation booked for August21-28th and I called to get free dining for part of my stay and the CM told me this could not be done only if it was for the beginning of my stay? I assume this is accurate? She told me to keep checking as there is a possibiity they may extend the dates, but I am just totally bummed. Any help would be appreciated if any.
That information is accurate. A free dining discount is not like a resort discount, you can not apply a partial discount to your stay. Your check in date must fall within the free dining dates to have it applied to your reservation.

It would be very nice if folks can report back with the following:

Which resorts were available
Any restrictions on room catergory, if any (garden view, preferred, etc...)

We booked under the Disney Visa, and I think POR only allowed certain room types (we are garden view)

Thanks,
Dan

We had a standard room booked at POR already and when I tried to add fd they said all those rooms were gone, so I had to upgrade to a garden view room. $50 more. C'est la vie. Very nice CM, but did have to wait 40 minutes. Thank goodness for speaker phone. Good luck everyone!

EXACT same thing happened to me. We had standard room reservations already, but to get the FD we had to add one night & they said they didn't have any standard rooms on that night so we just upgraded to a water view for the week. :( Paying a little more, but I guess it's worth it in the end.

I just booked this morning and the only value available online for my dates (September 26- October 2) was All Star Sports. I really wanted to stay at POP again, but it's Disney and I will take it anyway I can get it!

You can get FD for part of your stay if you do a split reservation. So if you check in on 8/21 and check out 8/25, then check back in on 8/25, then you can have FD for the remainder of your stay. Just prepared to possibly have to switch rooms/categories.

Actually, no that scenario won't work. A free dining split stay is only a good economical choice if you can do the split stay with 3 or less nights on the first reservation, because you can only pick up the package tickets 3 days early. The OP's would have to purchse 2 different ticket packages in your suggestion, and that would negate any free dining savings.

I just had my TA add free dining to my existing ressie, and then do a package for my daughter with connecting rooms, and she had to upgrade us to a royal room and one with a garden view. we could have done an add on room, but there are now 4 adults and 2 kids so we couldnt all stay on one package :( its more for the upgraded room but oh well who cares, we did get free dining!!! and it will be my granddaughters first visit! sooo excited now

That is true!

i had to upgrade to a royal room and one is a garden view, standard rooms at POR are gone. i guess this is disney's way of getting us for "free dining" lol, i still saved some money, but of course I am paying for my older daughter to go now. its all good, so glad to have her going again with us and my granddaughter

I booked this morning for 9/16-9/21 and the only value resort available was AS Sports...we wanted movies, but I'll take what I can get!

We chose a standard room.

My friends tried to apply Free Dining to their Villas at Wilderness Lodge reservation for the last week of Sept - it was not available. In fact, there was no availability for any 2BR Villa, except Kidani at AKL.:sad2:

Is it just me, or does Free Dining availability seem more limited than in past years?:confused3

I just booked online POFQ King bed room which is what we wanted for Sept 13-Sept 17.:banana:

Online as of about an hour ago for 2 guests, they had the following available:

POFQ: garden view or king bed
POR, CBR, and CSR: several room types including standard on all three.

Free dining does seem far more limited than prior years. Value resort is limited to All Star Sports only. Have heard moderates and deluxes are limited as well.

We'll probably skip FD this year. We have AP's so may go when rooms are cheaper and get a TIW card for dining.

I don't think it's limited to just All-Star Sports. When I called earlier the CM gave me the options of all three. It might just depend on when you are going.

Booked this last week and added the free dinning code to all 4 rooms today:cool1:
august 26-Sept1 All Star Music,

Called right at 7, still on hold. It's not looking good for me. I only have about 9 minutes before Ihave to get ready for work. :sad2:

I got through right after I posted this this morning. The CM was very nice and didn't say anything about it but I could tell the system was slow because there were a lot of long pauses with a "Just one moment, Please" thrown in here and there. Got FD added to our Sept reservation for Sports. We were going on the trip either way, but it is so nice to have our dining taken care of!!

This is for the general public.

Code B7H for values, and SS5 for moderate or deluxe resorts.

Many, many thanks for posting this! I saw it this morning right before I left to work and my dad (retired) immediately called. We are confirmed for FREE DINING at our first choice of resort: Coronado Springs! So excited! :dance3:
