Just looking up something on the first page of the thread and noticed the FAQ regarding late arrivals/finding something to eat, which is currently under contruction. Just wanted to add my plug for Picabu at the Dolphin (open 24 hours and the sandwiches and burgers are great!) Also, thought this photo of the sign at the YC might be helpful:

It was wonderful talking with you and thank you so much for the great information!!! I'll be back at work on July 24th and 25th and then July 31st and August 1st ... if they schedule me. They were talking about not scheduling part-timers ... same thing that happened once before. I won't know until I get back from Jeanne's. But if I'm working, I definitely hope to see you!!!

Great! If we are able to do it, our dates will be late 7/21 thru early 7/25. It is still pending working out a few details but I would love to get in 1 more trip with our annual passes. Hope we get to see you - and we want to see baby pics!! :cloud9:

I'm not packed but he is.

Jeanne is furious and wants to have her child in Canada ... Bob says we should all move to Canada ... Jeanne keeps calling and is so upset over the verdict ... I'm afraid she's going to have Peanut before the C-section if she doesn't calm down!

Oh my gosh Teena...we would love to have you all move to Canada!!!

Yes, I think the idea for this FAQ was inspired by the above picture. And I will definitely add the info for Picabu.

But as you have probably figured out "Under Construction" translates to "I would really like to have this info here, but I have been too busy to work on it!"

How is this??? Pixarmom, I couldn't find your original post when you returned from your trip in May- feel free to suggest information to the Picabu/Dolphin info I have.

I'm arriving at the resort after 10 PM. Will I be able to get something to eat???

The Marketplace- Closes at 11 pm
Located off the BC lobby, enjoy salads, sandwiches and desserts from this Quick Service location.

Beaches and Cream- Closes at 11 pm
Located between the BC and YC resorts, step into this classic soda shoppe and enjoy mouth-watering burger and classic sandwiches and top it off with our famous kitchen sink dessert.

Martha' Vineyard Lounge- Closes at 11:30 pm
Located at the BC resort. Relax and enjoy savory appetizers and beverages from the full bar.

Crews Club Lounge- Closes at midnight
Located in the Yachtsman Steakhouse, enjoy a late night bite in this sailing-themed lounge that features beer and wine from the world's famous seaports.

Yacht and Beach Club Private Dining- 24 hours
Enjoy a light snack or casual meal in the comfort of your room or any public area of the resorts. Touch dining options from yoru room phone.

If you would like a full selection of menu items available 24 hours/day, consider visiting Picabu Cafeteria at the nearby Dolphin Resort. The Dolphin is a short walk (10 minutes) from the Yacht & Beach Club.

Here is a sample menu board from March (thanks, pixarmom!)- click on thumbnail photo to enlarge

I'm joining in! I'll be at the YC with my DH from Sept 30th - Oct 3rd! I can't wait. I have a wv room booked...any tips on what i should include for my room request?

Congratulations on coming to the Dark Side!!! My suggestion for a room request..... A cold one or a sunken treasure.

Enjoy the planning!!

Marlton Mom - Do you think any of the noodle family members are afraid of clowns? The boys want to pool hop one day (we are DVC). I don't want to traumatize any of the noodles.

:lmao:

Both my sons have said they could **never** swim in that pool. That's what they get for reading Stephen King. :scared1:

I am just getting back to the boards after being 'away' (other than a quick peek every now and then) for a couple of (really busy) months. In fact this is my first post on this second 2011 Y&B thread. I couldn't believe how soon another 2011 thread started. Last year the second thread started while my family was on our fantastic WDW vacation in August (the picture from our great DIS meet is on the first page!). So I need to catch up and get to know all the new DISers!! And a big hello to all of you, both 'old' and 'new'!

I don't have another WDW vacation planned (yet), but we are considering a September vacation (using my in-laws timeshare so it would be offsite :( but at least it's still WDW!) and a possible Disneyland (never been there) this August.

Hi Kerry! Good to "see" you! Thanks for stopping in!

Hi Kerry!

We'll miss you at the BC/YC Dis Meet but I'll be thinking of you!
Of course now you're a "charter member" since you were at the Original
YC/BC Dis Meet!!!!!

I love the look of the Boardwalk resort, the location, everything except one.

I refuse to stay there because of the Clown slide.

I went over there to look at it last month and decide if I could put that aversion away.

I can't do it.

This is exactly why the boardwalk was not on my list of options. I just couldn't sit there and look at that while relaxing at the pool. It's just scary...what was disney thinking?

I know ... that clown is freaky!!!! I agree with you! The other thing I do not like about the Boardwalk resort is that you can't get from the resort to any of the restaurants without going outside and getting wet if it's raining. At the Y&C we have the covered walkway between the YC, BC and BCV so no matter where you are, you can get to everything (except Hurricane Hannah's) without getting wet if it is raining. That's a big plus for me.

Just booked YC for Sept 1-3 for a last minute Labor Day weekend getaway. So excited to be back! We were there in May and thought we wouldn't get back until January. :) We will spend the rest of the weekend at Royal Pacific at Universal our second favorite hotel. :)

We are planning a first night dinner at Yachtsman. Anyone have experience there they'd like to share?

Hi, Paul Noodle here,

If it's all right I'll answer for Marlton Mom. Generally speaking, we do OK with Clowns. I suppose like most things in life there is always the exception....

One time we were having a birthday party for our dog Bub. Bub is a big fan of those balloon animals. He likes it when we charge them up all full of static electricity and stick them on his 'fur'. We like to tease him when he runs around like this and call him the "King of the Jungle"!

Anyway, we hired a clown to come to Bub's party and make the balloon animals, only the clown thought it would be funny if he tried to make US into balloon animals. We are bendy, but C'MON! we're not THAT bendy, especially since we are so.... as you say 'voluptuous'.....

We managed to get rid of the clown when we got a passing VW beetle to stop and convince the clown that it needed one more clown inside to break the 'record'. Off he went never to be seen again. All we have left of him is a package of balloons and a pair of size 24 red clown shoes that he left by the side of the pool.

The upside of all this is that it inspired Pastina to get into yoga. I think she's really into it for the clothes but she claims it keeps her in shape for the pool.

So I think we'd be fine heading over to 'Clown Central', or as you call it, the Boardwalk.

This is Paul Noodle signing off!

We just got back from our first trip to the YC. We usually stay at the BC or WL. Although the YC was beautiful, it had the atmosphere of a resort hotel that was more suited to a convention type environment. The Yachtsman Steakhouse fell below our expectations. The food was just okay, and the servers, although very nice, did not have the professionalism that you would expect at a signature restaurant. We will be staying at the BC or WL in the future.:surfweb:
