2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

Hi all, I love reading all the posts! It's been about 10 years or more since I was at Disney and we are currently booked at the Beach Club for May 31-June 7. We upgraded to club level last week and was wondering if I could submit room requests to the club level concierge (mainly, we have a 2 yr old and would like to request a full size balcony, rather than standing if at all possible) or would I send those requests elsewhere?

Thanks!
Jenn

I have added you to the list!

Pixarmom - sounds like you had a wonderful vacation!

Can't wait to see the pictures - just what I need to cheer me up.

My Mom is back in the hospital - it has been on and off since July. I really can't wait to look at the pictures and think of my happy place.

Hi everyone

We are at the BC Club level in Aug for 4 nights. I have already done my ADRs myself online but now I hv received my pre stay form from the IPO and I am thinking about what I could ask them to do/organise for me. When we stayed at the Poly CL a few years ago we were given a lovely chocolate picture of the Poly. Does the BC CL have any specialities we could order as a surprise for our children?

Wow! Welcome back and thanks for the very detailed report!!! I was thinking about you this past week.

I am so sorry to hear about the difficulties when you got home. Any idea when it happened? I hope that not too much was ruined and that the clean up goes quickly.

I'm glad you had fun with your photomissions! Please thank the boys for me for their help.

Sounds like a wonderful room! I'm glad the family was able to enjoy the CL so much. Neil was particularly helpful to us, too, during our July trip.

I'll PM you about the photos. Would it be easy for you to upload the pictures to my photobucket account? Or I can try to copy off from your account. The problem with linking to your account is that the Y&BC board is so busy that you quickly exceed the bandwith allocated. I had to upgrade to Photobucket Pro when I first took over the site and posted my photos here.

I have a section for the BC marketplace, so my thought is to post one or two photos, and provide a link for anyone who wants to see more.

Thanks, again!

Dee

Hi Dee! Hope you were able to check out the photos in photobucket - it was very easy to upload those into your account! Robyn, I can still PM the Marketplace photos to you directly if that would be helpful!

Thanks for the message about the damage - burst pipes and we don't know how long the "fountain" was running in our kitchen and basement. We'll need a new kitchen floor and possibly new cabinets so the entire process will take a couple weeks and I have a lot of cleaning/laundry to do! But it will all be fine. :)

pixarmom - Thanks for the great report. I'm checking in in 9 days and can hardly wait! Do you mind sharing how much your taxi fare was to O'hana? We have a meal planned there and I want to make sure I have budgeted correctly for everything. Thanks.

Merci

I'm so excited for you! If I recall correctly, the cab was approximately $15 plus tip and entirely worth every penny! (It may have been a little more to the CR for California Grill.) We had a 7:30am Ohana ADR and then spent the day in MK and took the bus back to BC. We'll still rely on Disney transportation when getting to/from the parks, but for resort to resort, I'm really glad I took the cab advice!

Hi Robyn,

So sorry to hear about your mom. Dee will post the other mission photos in the right places shortly, but I'll send you a PM with the snacks.

Two things Pixarmom, first I'm very sorry to hear of your kitchen typhoon, basement lagoon problems. We had a situation where one of the neighborhood college girls was dog sitting for us on a 10 day drive down to Orlando trip in 2008. The water heater started leaking and the rug got totally ruined before she "remembered" to say something to her Dad about it. Then we found out she was 'entertaining' her boyfriend at our house despite repeated requests not to allow strangers in the house. Replacing a rug is a lot easier than what you've got to deal with though... I am hoping for the best with your situation! :wizard:

My second thought is how long in advance did you call a cab for the Poly trip and how much travel time did you give yourself? I'm thinking door to door might be 20 mins tops?

Are cabs just hanging around the Beach Club/Yacht Club looking to get "lucky" or do they have to be summoned from beyond?

PS. Here's hoping Mom gets better soon too!

I'm sorry to read about your mom. I hope she recovers quickly.

I know there are rules about who can use SAB. We are guests but kids have 2 friends staying offside that they want to have over for a swim. Guessing this is a no no? What if DG and DH gave them their KTTW to gain access for an hour while they hang out on the beach? Think this would work?

PIXAR MOM...
I am so sorry to hear about your kitchen/basement mess and have to ask a question if I could. EVERY YEAR I tell DH before vacation we ought to shut the water valve off. EAch time he tells me no - I forget his rationale but he has one. Would that have helped your case had you done that? I just ask b/c if the case I am going to lobby hard for that this next vacation...thanks melissa

Pixarmom,

Sorry to hear about your plumbing misfortune :(

Please add me to the March BC list
March 9-13th

I'd like to be added to the March list too. We'll be there March 12 - 18.

And a quick question... Anyone know if the daybed rooms are hard to get if you wait to request them until you get there? We don't really need one but if I can separate the boys while the sleep they'll both sleep better since they are both wiggleworms. TIA

There are cabs right outside the YC. Just go out to the CM and he will get one for you. I think 20minutes is about right.

Hi, Nixieh! Not sure if you're looking for this idea, but I have had the IPO order chocolate covered strawberries as a "welcome" gift for our family all 3 times we've stayed at BC or YC. I've ordered them through IPO, but they are through Private Dining. I believe the BC does also have a chocolate picture and I know that there are white chocolate Mickeys, too. My children have loved them and talk about them often. They have said before each trip, "I wonder if the BC still gives you choc. covered strawberries?" I guess I've started a tradition! :goodvibes Have a great trip! We love BC and YC CL!!

Marlton Mom--I love your posts! You have a great sense of humor! I'm pretty sure that the BC has cabs waiting outside during "typical" times. However, if you go to the CMs outside about 10 min. before you want to leave, they can call one for your family. I've had DH talk to the CMs outside while the kids and I swing through the gift shop or people watch in the lobby for a few minutes. They are pretty quick. I think that the cabs just circle WDW resort property. Once you are in a cab it is about a 10-15 min. trip or so. (to another resort, not sure about DTD).

Teena--hope you are feeling better! You are in my prayers!

We are very excited about our first stay at BC in August :goodvibes Loved looking at all the photos, made me more excited to go.

I'm going with one of my adult daughters, and booked a Garden View room. I've made a couple of room requests, Full Balcony & 2 queen beds. I understand there are some rooms with 1 queen & pull out? Don't think daughter would enjoy sleeping on the pull out :rotfl:

I don't know the locations of GV rooms, but was wondering if I should request a certain location? Or just leave it with what I've requested?

Thank you! Love the "entertaining" in quotes!

Here's what happened with the cabs last week: The first time, I called early in the morning. The CL desk was closed so I got the front desk. They arranged to have a cab waiting for us at 7am for our 7:30am reservation at Ohana.

The second time was in the evening, so I talked to the CL CMs. They recommended that we go downstairs and just ask for a cab. That worked, too. So we asked at the valet stand in the front of BC and they got a cab for us in just minutes. On the way back, we just stepped outside at the CR and they got a cab for us within minutes there, too.

I was comfortable with 30 minutes before an ADR in the MK area. Hope that helps!

Yes, that's a large part of it! We knew it the moment we walked in the house and all of the home restoration people we've met over the past 48 hours confirmed that. But I don't mention it much because my husband closes up the house and takes care of those things - and I don't want to make him feel bad! But it's also related to some recent plumbing work that we just learned was less-than-high-quality. In any event, I certainly recommend lobbying your husband to shut off the water!

Thanks for the good wishes, bzzelady!
