Just a quick reply to pixarmom- I am able to access the photobucket pictures and I will start putting them onto the site in the morning. I've been in and out since 10 this morning.

Robyn- sorry to hear about your mom. I know this past year you have had a lot of ups and downs.

I'd like to be added to the March list too. We'll be there March 12 - 18.

And a quick question... Anyone know if the daybed rooms are hard to get if you wait to request them until you get there? We don't really need one but if I can separate the boys while the sleep they'll both sleep better since they are both wiggleworms. TIA

I think you will increase your chances of getting a daybed if it is listed on your reservation. Do you have any other requests you will be making? You can ask when you check in if the room assigned to you has a daybed and if it doesn't, ask if there is a room available that does. Or request a rollaway if there are any available.

Thank you! Love the "entertaining" in quotes!

According to the dog it was like an inland version of the "Jersey Shore". Instead of "Snooky" It was "Slutty" doing the dog sitting. I don't get the twenty somethings and their code of behavior concerning "such matters". I just hope they have enough penicillin to treat that entire age group.

Here's what happened with the cabs last week: The first time, I called early in the morning. The CL desk was closed so I got the front desk. They arranged to have a cab waiting for us at 7am for our 7:30am reservation at Ohana.

The second time was in the evening, so I talked to the CL CMs. They recommended that we go downstairs and just ask for a cab. That worked, too. So we asked at the valet stand in the front of BC and they got a cab for us in just minutes. On the way back, we just stepped outside at the CR and they got a cab for us within minutes there, too.

I was comfortable with 30 minutes before an ADR in the MK area. Hope that helps!

This was an excellent answer. I was wondering about the early morning thing too but I forgot to ask.

I know that if we have a very early ADR, say at like the Crystal Palace, we should discuss the bus situation with the cast members at the Hotel.

On our last trip (dog was Staying AT a friends house this time so no more "Slutty".... Can you imagine? My house would have shown up on Google maps marked "Brothel") When we were staying at POFQ my husband and son did "The Behind the Steam Trains Tour" and they had to be at Magic Kingdom very early. We arranged for a cab from the Cab company the night before. The cab dropped them off at the Contemporary where they hoofed it to the Magic Kingdom in time for the tour, which started at around 7:15 am. If you were late, they left without you and no refunds!

Thanks for the Cab info. Pixarmom.

I shall now bestow upon you, the masses of the Beach Club faithful, what I learned from MY flooding while you're on vacation FIASCO.

If you turn down the temp on your water heater before you leave for vacation, the drain faucet at the bottom might leak because the water isn't heating up the metal in the faucet as much..... so the valve innards may contract and let water leak out. (God Bless the quality that is "Made in China").

For Less than $2 you can go to the hardware store or Lowes Depot and purchase a GARDEN HOSE END CAP. Screw it on that faucet and you'll never have to worry about that bad boy dripping AGAIN!

Why they don't automatically come with this no brainer of a part is beyond me but I wouldn't put it past the trade school flunk outs who were sent to install the water heater to leave it in the box and throw it out.

Don't get me wrong, I love the working man and woman, especially one that is in the trades, but the 2 kids that showed up to do this water heater project were beyond incompetent. I will spare you the details of their further idiocy. Lets just say this.... if the contractor showing up at your house doesn't shave yet and his Uncle is his boss (Who is coming later.... NOT!) SLAM the DOOR SHUT and call someone who cares!

Thus endeth my epistle on water heaters and you!

Whoops, I guess I posted this in the wrong place, so here it is again:

First I'd like to thank you for this very exciting thread, Dee - and all the people who have added to it.
I have a question... Have been reading thru these many posts, but am confusing myself (not very hard to do!)
We're staying at the BCV Aug 7 - 17 this year. Never having been to the resort, I'm finding it hard to figure the best area to request...
Do all the villas have balconies (or patios)? The owner asked me to advise him of where we'd like to request, but quite honestly, I don't even begin to know what to ask.
We'll have 2 kids with us (ages 5 & 9), so I'm unsure if we should ask to be closer to SAB or the walkway to Epcot (will be a might hot walk in Aug!), or maybe someplace else... WWYD and why?
What are your opinions of the views? From what I can tell, most people don't rate them highly.
Does anyone have any recent pics of a 1 or 2 bdrm villa?
Thank you for taking the time to answer.
Gretchen

Hi everyone. I am back and just now getting back on the boards. We had a great stay at BCV. So much fun. I just loved it. If anyone has any questions...I will try to answer. But I see that there are many that know much more than I :)

By the way....I did American Idol and WON!!!!! (not the finale, but my session) So much fun!!

Congrats on your win, wirki! Must have been fun - can't wait to hear about the whole thing!
What kind of a room did you have at the BCV? We're renting a 1 bdrm and am wondering what/where to request as far as room location.
Anything else you can tell us about the resort? Walking to Epcot? Transportation in general? Anxious to hear all about the place!
Thanks.

I know there are rules about who can use SAB. We are guests but kids have 2 friends staying offside that they want to have over for a swim. Guessing this is a no no? What if DG and DH gave them their KTTW to gain access for an hour while they hang out on the beach? Think this would work?

If you get caught giving someone your KTTW to gain access, they will ask you to leave the resort. It happened last August. A guest went in, got a bracelet, then had their friends come in one at a time using his KTTW. They caught him doing it and asked them to leave the resort. You and your friends are welcome to use the quiet pool.

Just got in to Jeanne's. Long day of travel but had to check in since her computer was up and running. Jeanne doesn't even look pregnant!!!

Well you just know the first ones always hang on to the ribs for dear life. One day Jeanne will pop out and next will come baby.

I remember when I was pregnant, towards the very end I could only waddle sloooowly. :tiptoe: Then I had a C-section and if I thought I was slow before I soon found myself doing the Ruth Buzzy, old lady, shuffle..... everywhere I went for a week or two. It really made me laugh because no matter how fast my brain told my body to walk it just wasn't happening!

Good luck and good health to the both of you!

Marlton Mom (Who can walk much faster now, especially if donuts are involved!)

I just wanted to chime in on this thread that I've now spent all night reading.:rotfl:I'm staying at YC next weekend 2/25-2/28, and I'm also running my first half marathon! It's actually my first race ever! I'm so excited. For some reason I haven't let myself get excited about this trip. I think it's the guilt that I have for going without my dh and kids. But it's creeping closer and closer, and now I can't wait. I've always been a value girl due to finances. So when I got the email from Team in Training saying we're booked at YC, my jaw hit the floor. I feel all hoity toity.:lmao:

The sunken treasure has been raised! Well, not really, but it makes an appearance on the Community page of the FAQ section.

I have uploaded 20 photos of the BC Marketplace in a thread in the resort photo thread. Pixarmom- I haven't credited you with the photos in that thread, wanted to check with you first. Let me know.

This is what is now posted on page 1 (Amenities and Services). Disneymomx7 was looking for this info to help her choose items for gifts for her kids.

Here is a link to 20 photos taken by Pixarmom in February 2011 showing some of the grocery items, sweets, treats, gifts and merchandise available in the Beach Club Marketplace

Anyone going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party???

Still need someone to keep the lists for October and December!

No experience required.

Can't say that I am happy about this! According to AllEars:

"Routine maintenance is underway at the Yacht and Beach Club's Transportation Dock. While this work is being completed, FriendShip boat transportation to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and neighboring resorts will not be available from the Yacht and Beach Club. The dock is set to reopen March 14. Bus transportation will be provided to Disney's Hollywood Studios from the Yacht and Beach Club bus stops. You can reach Epcot, Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas, and the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels by walking."

I guess I would have appreciated some advance notice!

Have you ever rode the friendship boats to Epcot? DD and I walk briskly and race them..We win every time!!!! :) now if you have a medical issue etc I totally get why you would need them but really the ONE TIME we did use it it was sooo crowded and sooooo slow to board we ended up walking to DHS - in June heat!

We're staying at the YC for the first time this year and I've already gained lots from this thread. Just one question - is there somewhere to shower and change at the poolside? Thought this might be especially useful on our last day seeing as we won't leave till mid-afternoon in August temperatures!

I guess I don't really want to walk all the way to HS, really. It is not like it is next door. And it is nice to take the boat across the lake to dinner when you are dressed up.

And no, I do not have any mobility issues.

How long of a walk would you say it is? It'll be me, DH and our two boys (6 & 9) so we won't be speed walking.

We have raced the boat from HS to BC twice- we won both times- both after very very long days in the parks. In July. Took us about 20 minutes walking briskly.

I just pulled out my EPCOT resort area resort map. The walk to the Dolphin may not be that long, so you could get the boat from there to HS or take one of the buses they will be running.

I'm sorry that the maintenence on the dock with impact the enjoyment of your trip.

I would say it would be about a 25 minute walk at a casual pace.

Does anyone know the approximate distance from either the BC or YC back entrance to HS entrance?

Yes, you will be able to go into the ShipShape Health Club to shower. You can use lockers there too.
