I'm on the list - so will we be included? Do I just have to go find Teena then?

KittyCat9 - I'm assuming you are looking for the YC/BC/BCV pin? If so, you need to PM Teena and let her know you want one. See what the pin looks like on page one of this thread, then PM Teena with the name your reservation is under, which resort you are staying at and what day you are arriving. Teena will put one pin in an envelope and leave it with the front desk. When you arrive, tell the CM checking you in that a "special friend" left you an envelope and it's either in a mail slot for you or in the manager's safe. This is really something neat that people on this thread have done for the YC/BC/BCV DISers so that we can easily identify each other.

How fantastic! Thank you so much, I will send that PM now.

So - I'm down to 24 days until check-in and I just can't seem to stay off of the DisBoards!! I found myself surfing and reading at work today... my mind is definitely in WDW right now... if only I could get my body there faster!! :lmao:

And before I even get there, I'm thinking of making reservations at BC for next years F&W festival... I've never been to the F&W and this will be my first stay at BC - but I'm thinking that after everything I've read - I know I'm going to want to stay again at the BC!!

I really can't wait to check it out!!

We just returned from 8 days at the BC and I wanted to report we had a wonderful time! We were upgraded to the CL! That of course was fantastic, and a huge dose of pixie dust. The mousekeeping staff did a great job and so did the concierge staff. Because our flight left at 7:45 AM we couldn't use the regular ME airport check-in. But the CL was able to help us check-in and print boarding passes - which resulted in huge time savings when got to the airport:thumbsup2

It was our first stay at the BC - and personally it is my favorite.
I found the layout of the resort to be fine - it really is not very far to get to any part of the BC - lobby, Marketplace, out to pool or dock. We walked over to Epcot at least 3 times during our stay - super easy and quick - wonderful for the F&W festival.

The bus service was fine - they now have a staff member out there for the morning rush letting people know when the last bus left and when another is expected. In the mornings the buses seemed to go directly to the main parks - MK, and AK without stopping at any other resorts. In the afternoon and evenings they would make the loop around to get all the Epcot area resorts.

We met Teena - my girls got an autograph :goodvibes and photo.

If anyone has any questions I will try and answer.

I agree - it was very convenient to get over to sample things. :thumbsup2 and the F&W was very good. I don't know if we managed to get everything we planned on - we were doing Kim Possible missions at the same time so that restricted us.

It was also VERY HOT while we were there - and that slowed us down somewhat too.

Linda~Glad you had a great trip!!!
I have a question...we are at 10 days today!:yay::yay: Have most of you done on-line check-in, or are you just waiting? I am not sure what I want to do. Or what the advantages are of both sides of it.

Does the YC or BC have wheelchairs that can be used at the resort?

If so, can they be used to get someone to the gate at Epcot, where we can rent a wheelchair?

Or can we rent a wheelchair at the IG and bring it to the YC to get someone?

One more question- what do people do about tipping mousekeeping for taking care of the room? We are staying CL for 9 days.

I did not do online check-in. I wanted to ask about a microwave for our room - but because we got the upgrade - I didn't need it after all!

The line was NOT long for the regular check-in - maybe 1 or two people in front of us and they had at least 3 CMs doing the check-in - so it went quickly.

We made up tip envelopes ahead of time - put $5 bills in each (for a family of 4) and left it on the bedside clock each day. One day we forgot, and I put out both envelopes the next day.

One day I forgot and left the privacy sign on the door when we left - so we had to call and ask for towels when we got back from the waterpark. They were brought to our room within 10 minutes.

I found the mousekeeping staff to be excellent!

We are finally down to the single digits - Can't wait to walk into BC and inhale that wonderful smell. Congrats on the upgrade - maybe there will be some pixie dust for us too! :wizard:

Linda - congrats on the upgrade! Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Isn't BC CL just great! Be careful though - we had a free upgrade in 2008 and haven't gone back to a non-CL room yet!

I know - a person could get used to that.....

My dh wants to go back to cruising for a while - we probably won't go back to Disney for a couple of years....well - if he gets his way anyway :lmao:

Greetings;

I'm staying at YC for the first time in December. I've got a room only reservation that I made online; water / pool view. I did not see any place to enter any room location request so I figured I would just take what I got. I'm not all that fussy but would like a full balcony. Question 1: Something I read in one of the posts here makes me believe that most of the rooms at YC are full balconys. Should I worry about this? I'm going to be calling Disney to charge off the remainder of my stay (down payment made) in a coulpe of days and wondering if I should make the full balcony request.

Question 2: The resort looks really spead out. Should I receive a room that is down at the Swan / Dolphin end of things, how far is it really from the lobby? It looks like "miles" away (kidding, sort of) and quite a hike. I don't go back and forth from the resort to the parks all that often during the day so it's not that big of a deal but in the AM for a cup of coffee and a danish could be a challenge.

PS: I am simply loving this thread. I've stayed mostly at Wilderness Lodge, which I love, but wanted to be closer to Epcot and the Studios this trip which is where I spend most of my time. Being an "older", solo travler (no kids) I figured YC would be a better fit for me. Am I going to love it?

First---You are going to love it. They did have continental breakfast (not free) set up in the loung in the lobby. This was in September. It really is not that long of a stroll but if you want to request near the lobby so that you are closer to the entrance, just give them a call and they will add it to your reservation. i did this with mine and it worked out just fine. It is really great being so close the IG at Epcot. And it is a nice stroll or a short boatride to DHS so that is 2 less bus rides that you will have to take. Have fun.

Does the YC or BC have wheelchairs that can be used at the resort? One more question- what do people do about tipping mousekeeping for taking care of the room?

Cocoabean, many pages ago (it may have been in the last YC/BC thread), if memory serves me correctly (and at my age, that part is failing me too more often than I like), Teena reported that the resort has wheelchairs that they will "lend" to patrons of the resort for their full stay. There is a limited quantity so it's sort of a "first come first serve" type of thing. Since you are staying CL, may I suggest you get in contact with the staff and see if they might have one available for the time of your stay? I would think they should be able to keep one for you if you ask.

As far as tipping mousekeeping, it's sort of up to you. Some don't see the reason for it and don't do it. Some do $1 per person per room per day. Some do a flat rate. Some make up fancy envelopes to set out each day. Others like Linda will do just plain envelopes but have them ready for each day. I do the $1 per person per day thing. I always leave it out each day with a little note. We do each day since mousekeepers may change during the stay. Some like to leave the money on the last day like you would do on a cruise but that approach really doesn't make much sense to me.

Katesdad is right.

My dd broke her leg this summer and needed to use a wheelchair at Disney. Teena told me that there are a limited number of wheelchairs available but they cannot be reserved, not even through IPO. Her advice if we wanted to use one at the resort was to have the number of a wheelchair rental company as a back up.

We ended up just renting one at home so we could use it through the airport and at Disney. It was less expensive than renting from the company in Orlando and I was too worried about taking a chance on not getting one of the complimentary ones.

According to Build a Better Mouse Trip, the November movies are:

Sunday Fox and the Hound
Monday Lilo & Stitch
Tuesday Alice in Wonderland (Animated)
Wednesday Ratatouille
Thursday The Aristocats
Friday Beauty and the Beast
Saturday Toy Story 3

After answering a few pages back that the movies are usually a mix of animated and non-animated family films, I am proved wrong!!! If someone who goes in the next
week or so could confirm that these are the movies listed on the sign on the beach, I would appreciate it!!!

Saw the list on Sunday Pretty sure that was it although I didn't write it down. Meant to but forgot. I do remember Toy Story 3 on Saturdays tho. The DVD was on sale in marketplace yesterday too!

Just make sure you save some Pixie Dust for us too!!! Or as my nephew says... 'Hey - don't hog all the dusties"! :wizard:

There's so much pixie dust at the Yacht & Beach club that I don't know how the mousekeepers can keep up with it!!

It's finally here! I arrive tomorrow!
 :cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

I'm just a little bit excited. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread for the great info and helping me pass the time during the long wait.
