Katesdad,

Please change my dates to 12/5 - 12/10 at YC CL. I can't believe I gave you the wrong dates. I must be in a hurry to get there! Sorry about that.

YC/BC in August. Thinking of taking advantage of free dining and checking in 8/19. If better deal comes out I will switch to end of June. Been there in June. Is heat or bugs WAY worse in August? Brazilian tour groups worse? Thanks!

Katesdad,

We will be staying YC CL 12/8-12/13...maybe we will run into each other!

We are booked for 2 weeks next August in a Garden View Room at the Beach Club. I requested a full balcony on my reservation because DH and I like to sit out on the balcony after the kids go to sleep and those little balconies don't seem to offer much room!! I know requests are not guaranteed, but do you guys think I have a good chance of getting the full blacony as this is the only request that I have? I'm considering switching over to YC to guarantee that we'll have the full balcony, but I was looking forward to the theme at the Beach Club this time and a little change from the Yacht Club where I've stayed recently.

Oh the decisions!! :confused3

Hello mom2aPrincess&Pirate!!

We stayed at BC twice this year, and we were fortunate to have a full balcony both times. The first time, we did not request it. We enjoyed it so much that we requested a full balcony for our second trip. For February 2011, we booked a Garden View room with only one request - full balcony! So I entirely understand your situation.

I do think that limiting the number of requests on your reservation increases the chance that the room assignors will be able to satisfy your full balcony request. But if it's really important to you, the YC is a great alternative!

If you decide to keep your BC reservation, I have one other suggestion. When you check in, ask the CM at the front desk whether your assigned room has a full balcony. If not, and if your plans are flexible, you could ask whether a room with a full balcony will become available later in the day. I did this at WL a while ago with our bunk bed request (back in the day when bunk beds were a request, and not a room category) and the CM was able to change our room assignment. We had our park bag ready to go, left the rest of our carry-ons with bell services, and didn't need our room until 10pm. This is exactly what we plan to do in February at BC with our full balcony request. Of course, this still does not guarantee a full balcony, but if your plans are flexible, it might increase your chances!

Good luck with your decision! :wizard:

After a LOT of lurking, we made the decision to cancel our Fort Wilderness reservations and book at Yacht Club!!!! :woohoo: I know you must be thinking, "Whoooo, that's a step up for them." Well, we are a professional family who also happens to enjoy camping. It took several years for my husband to convince me that I could actually like camping and I do. Just not in a tent or without electricity or indoor plumbing, etc. :lmao: We brought our 5th wheel to the Fort for the first time this year and absolutely fell in love with the campground. It was beautiful with easy access to MK via the ferry or to Epcot via the ferry to Contemporary and then monorail to Epcot. Yes, the ferry and monorail took a little longer than other available options, but this was my kids' preferred route, so....

Anyway, I booked our trip to return to the Fort---but couldn't help pricing out other options. Well, it turns out that by the time we pay for our gas to lug our 5th wheel down to Disney and pay for our stay, plus tickets and food, 2 nights campground lodging (1 night each way to break up the drive for my sweet husband) for trip to and from Disney and a golf cart rental for the week---we could stay at a deluxe resort w/ the free dining plan for only $900 more. No brainer, right? That's what I kept saying! Soooo, we bit the bullet and made the decision. WooooHooo. I am so excited that I can't stop "researching" everything possible about Beach Club and Yacht Club. We ultimately chose YC for the guaranteed balcony, though I was a little intimidated about staying on "the dark side". Once I read reviews on tripadvisor and here and looked at a ton of pics, I decided that we'd be just fine on the "dark side" afterall. Regardless of how I felt, with our family of 5, we need a place to escape if we get too crowded in the room.

I'm a little worried about the crowd levels at the parks since our dates of travel (May 27- June 3) will include Memorial Day weekend and Gay Days. If anyone can offer any insight into either of these events, please pm me.

Thanks to all who have posted pictures and shared such valuable information about BC and YC. I am beyond excited and can't wait to experience for myself what all of you have so eloquently described!!!!

Thanks so much pixarmom! I really appreciate the advice. I think I will do as you suggested and ask as we are checking in, and keep our fingers crossed that we're able to get a full blacony!

You will Love, Love , Love the Yacht and Beach Club!!!!!!! There is no turning back now:rotfl2:I would live at the Beach Club if they would let me:banana:

Finished packing ... I'm off to Jeanne's (Vegas) tomorrow morning and will be away from the computer until late Saturday night (if I even turn it on then). I hope everybody has a great week and I look forward to Sunday and meeting some more disboarders!!! I met quite a few yesterday and today.

For all of you coming soon, the weather is still HOT but we are expecting to hit a high of 72 on Saturday and the mid-40's during the night. I have no idea how long those cold temps will last but at least my air conditioning bill will finally go down for a day or so!

We get to BC on Thursday night and can't wait!!! Has anyone checked on the movie schedule for the movies on the beach? Just wondering I had called earlier, but they didn't have the titles yet. Thanks to anyone that knows.:happytv:

According to Build a Better Mouse Trip, the November movies are:

Sunday Fox and the Hound
Monday Lilo & Stitch
Tuesday Alice in Wonderland (Animated)
Wednesday Ratatouille
Thursday The Aristocats
Friday Beauty and the Beast
Saturday Toy Story 3

After answering a few pages back that the movies are usually a mix of animated and non-animated family films, I am proved wrong!!! If someone who goes in the next week or so could confirm that these are the movies listed on the sign on the beach, I would appreciate it!!!

Well today I made our reservations for Oct 2nd-7th of next year. This will be our first time staying at Beach Club Villas; I am really excited.

I did not make any room requests, I am a little nervous about this and hope I did not make a mistake in doing so.

Brandi

We will be there around 5 pm US time tommorow, can't wait to get there just don't care for the 9 hour flight. I read thunderstorms are expected tommorow and don't like the idea of flying through one.

How awesome! We arrive on Saturday 11/27. Do you know what time the movies start? We have dinner at Ohana's at 6:45PM that night. If my kids even saw 1/2 of the movie, they would be in heaven. We're not planning on going to the parks this day - just exploring the Yacht/Beach Clubs, since we won't arrive at the resort until around after 12.

Hi everyone!

We are just back from our trip 10/24-10/30 at YC CL. Our whole family enjoyed the YC, so don't think that it is too formal for children. I found the staff to be very friendly, however a few CMs need a little more training. Smiles do not replace service.

We stayed CL and were overall happy with that choice. The food and drink offerings were great, perfect for a quick bite before the parks and a drink and dessert at night. For us, the real reason to stay CL is the service, and I thought that was lacking in part. Mousekeeping was wonderful, except when our toilet overflowed and they did not come to stop the water or mess! Maintenance came quickly, but housekeeping wouldn't come when he called for them (they were in a meeting). His response was "there's going to be a flood on the fourth and third floors if no one comes to mop this water up!" We could not use the toilet or the shower that morning, and I was surprised that after we informed the concierge, no one asked us later if the issue had been resolved or apologized for the inconvienence. This happened to us at another hotel several years ago and we were immediately moved to a different room and the manager called to check in on us to make sure things were alright.

One CM at the desk was wonderful and helped us with a dinner ADR at the last minute. By contrast, another CM was less helpful and didn't follow thru like the first CM had. I also had a package mistakenly go to the gift shop and not the CL. The CM told me I'd need to go get the package. Not a big deal, but in paying for CL, I'd think they could have called for the package to be sent up? Or offered to get it for me? I thanked that first CM with a gift card at the end of the week, and have sent e-mails to management to thank him as well.

Would I stay CL again? Sure. But I will go in knowing it's not the same standard as regular concierge in non-Disney hotels. As I said, everyone was super friendly, but just because you call my DDs princess at each turn doesn't mean I'm getting quality service. It was a nice set-up that a greeter waled thru the lobby as we arrived and called us by name, but not once did a CL CM greet us by name (except the one person who helped us). I know it's not a Ritz (where I've had a gift shop employee go out of the way to perform a service for me unrelated to her job), but I've had better service at lower star hotels.

Teena, I'm sorry we didn't get over to the BC lobby in time to meet you.

I'm on the list - so will we be included? Do I just have to go find Teena then? We are coming in for my Son's 7th birthday. He is going to be so excited. I still need to decide if I'm ordering him his lanyard ahead of time, or waiting until I get there. This is going to be a huge deal for him (he loves stuff like this).
