We are thinking of doing the Baltic June 12

Question though..

We want to fly out a couple of days early to go to Paris.. Will the rail take us to Disneyland then back to Dover..

You can stop at Ashford which is just a little way up the road from Dover. It then looks like you get free onward travel to your final destination in the SE of England, which would be Dover Priory.

Eurostar.

Railway map for free onward travel.

We picked ours tonight! We'll be on the 7/6/10 cruise. My Dad wants to go to Helsinki, so looks like we'll be touring Finland. :)

Now off to scrape pennies out of water fountains, clean windshields on the street and recycle discarded aluminum cans for the next 20 months... :rotfl:

This is the one we want, too. We had the "around the kitchen table" talk with our pre-teen boys last night about what we have to sacrifice to make it happen (like not having pizza every Tuesday night). I started a thread on the Meet boards for the July 6th for anyone who has that sail date as their top pick.

Looking at the dates we would choose then it would be Finland for us and during the cruise would be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary :) I would so love to see St Petersburg again as when I went there in 1991 it was called Leningrad!!

That is right Leningrad now changed to St Petersburg.

I went School trip on US Uganda.

I had been there at Leningrad, very interest but I don't know *** last time I visited was 1975!!!

Did soliders stand there?? (of course stupid question) because I saw the army with gun every where at the port?

Ok, I need some reassurance.....or advice!!! :thumbsup2 :sad2:
I would love to book the 11 night med cruise, in a category 8, sailing in August..............however, the price at the top end would be out of our reach, so hoping for first tier pricing. I won't be able to book until 11.00am on 14th due to work committments, how quickly have these cruises sold out previously? What are my chances of getting the cheaper rate?! Help!!!:upsidedow

The other option, if it works for you, is to go with a travel agent to book it for you. I have given my TA our choices already and I know she will do her best to get the first tier pricing as she always does. She also is giving a nice onboard credit too.

gydell - what cruise are you doing?

Hi V! We are doing the 1st Baltic. Are you looking at any? I would love to do the TA again but the end of April is testing time at school and since we have been to those places before then we picked the Baltic. I wish it was earlier than June 12th but DCL doesn't listen to me.

Does anyone know how far Berlin is from the port that DCL is going to in Germany?

Yes it is about a 3 hour train ride. You can do it yourself, but it involves multiple transfers. I didn't want to hassle it when we went to the Baltics on the Crown Princess last June. We booked the "Berlin on your own tour" through Princess and it worked wonderfully! We only had to walk about 100 yards from the ship to our private train into the city. And Berlin is very easy to get around.

Too far for us to go! Guess I'll be doing something else.

I debated back and forth, but it the end was VERY glad I'd gone. The ride went quickly - even without the Disney touches :-) And Berlin was just awesome.

However, if you decide not to go to Berlin you can go to the town of Rostock which is very close by. It'll also be a good day to do laundry, as they will probably close the self service laundries for the 2 days you are in St Petersburg, so they can conserve water.

If it were just adults I would do Berlin. But with an 8yo boy, 6 hours in 1 day seems like a long time on a train!
