2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

One thing to change about WDW?

The freaking reservations dates.

I'm organizing my first DVC trip for May 27th, 2010. So here are the dates I have to keep track of:

11 months: Book with home resort (done)
7 months: Change to "non home" resort
6 months: dining ADRs, Bippity Boppidy Boutique, Pirates league
90 days: tours (Seguay tour), family photo shoot

All this and I STILL have no idea if STAR WARS weekend is even going on that weekend, which is the whole point of going at the end of May. Heck, the park hours aren't even out yet. I don't want to reserve weekend ADRs at Hollywood studios if there's no Starwars weekend, but if I wait until the Starwars dates are announced, I'll miss out on getting a hotel room and ADRs.

Can we please synchronize the park date, reservation date, special event date and ADR dates? Please? Too much to ask?

Also, I sure hope there's no swimsuit competition for the Moms panel, not to mention a ballroom gown one.

The Unoffical Guide Touring Plans list the Star Wars Weekends as follows

5/21,22,23
5/28,29,30
6/4,5,6
6/11,12,13

I don't know if they have official confirmation or are just going with past dates and assuming(we know how that sometimes works out!:rotfl2:)

Missy - I am glad you are still out there. Yes! 14 days is way too long. Don't be a nice girl! Start insisting on a quicker meet. The sqeakest wheel gets the oil!

Glo - GO HOME and take care of yourself! You've made an appearance, time to leave!

Kids and their birthday suit - my 4 year old still thinks its funny to run around the house naked or to come out of the bathroom with no pants on, even when we have company. Then there is the whole facination with his "winky". Don't even get me started! :rotfl::rotfl:

As for the shoe bit, went through that one too. He would absolutely not let me put them on the right feet when he was first learning how to put his shoes on. Now we fight the shoelace battle. I tie them - he unties them, even when they are in double knots!

What I would change about WDW.... hmmm... I have to agree that the resorts have grown expontentially faster that the park capacity. There needs to be another park or additional attractions to disperse the crowds more. Somehow, I don't think Disney will stop building hotels.

I am in a very dry technical design session for our multi-factor authentication solution for my mobile banking project today and tommorrow. Pardon me if I snore too loudly! :dance3:

This is OT but I thought I would get y'alls (I'm from Texas) opinion.

I am planning a 7 night trip in May and we are taking my DHs best friend and his family. So, 4 adults, 1 teen (girl), 2 pre-schoolers (DS-4 and girl -5), and 1 toddler (DS 1).

I have our dining pretty much planned accept for I can't decide if we should go to Narcoose's or Hoop-de-Doo. I know they are polar opposites. I keep reading the very mixed reviews on Narcoose's. I want to try them but I am a bit scared. Can someone make me feel better about this choice? The couple we are taking is definitely a bit more on the upscale dining side and I am not sure that they would like the Hoo-de-Doo, although I know the kids would love it. This is their first trip to the World.

Opinions?

!

We love Narcoossee's but it is definitely a get dressed up and have a quiet dinner kind of place. I have seen toddlers there but they have always been very quiet and when they are restless a parent ends up leaving the restaurant and walking them outside for a while.

HDDR on the other hand begs for you to make noise and get rowdy! :dance3: If I had the choice to make I would vote for HDDR. It has corny comedy so I would warn the BF's of that but as long as they like silly stuff, then they will enjoy the simple meal.

Besides you already have three upscale dinners planned with LeCellier, California Grille and Jiko plus you have V & A's scheduled for the adults.

Go to HDDR and let your hair donw! :yay::woohoo:

I've also got another web site stating it's all in June.

http://www.wdisneyw.com/forums/showthread.php?p=891262

According to the DVC cast member I got off the phone with today, there are no official dates as of yet.

RE: Disney job.

I'd work in their IT department, so I could overhaul their web sites. I'd like more functional than flashy.

I have a computer technology author that I work with that used to work for Disney on their networks. He said it was neat to work on the stuff, but had to move for personal reasons.

Can you imagine what I could do if I still had a "backdoor" into the WDW website!!!!!!:joker:

It's crazy, you know it's been planned forever. I used to plan conventions, there is no way they haven't had this on a master schedule for a year, if not years. Why not just release it? People have plans to make!

Yea, like those starwars "celebrities" are busy. Look Mom, I got an autograph of the 32nd stormtrooper from the left in the 82nd scene of the 3rd movie (which is the 6th book).... arggggh.

Hey Doug! My husband is a computer technology author...and used to work for Disney on their networks!! Your comment made me stop and think - wait, does my husband KNOW Doug?! I don't think he does tho LOL When he worked for Disney it was on the Resort networks and back in the 90's. :D That would've been cool tho! ;) He's now moved on to programming, and I often tell him he should get a job at Disney doing their sites!!

Here is the Day Three Waiting Day question:

If you could make one change to anything in Walt Disney World what would it be?

Ok, It took me a while to think it through.. but I've got an answer!!!

I'd like to change the merchandise sold in the stores. Remember, years ago, when each store, in each park, had different merchandise? When Disneyland and Walt Disney World were not printed on everything? When the Pooh shirt with "Tigger? Is that you??" was only sold in Animal Kingdom?

Oh, how I'd love to see that again! I'd definitely spend a ton more time in shops and wandering through to find those unique and special items. :goodvibes

And, yes.. .two days in a row with shopping and stores! I know.. I guess I need to get out more!!!:lmao:

I think it's DUG that currently runs the Disney websites.

"I do not like the cone of shame."

Great, i can just hear it now. "Daddy, can we go back to Animal Kingdom to get that tshirt I saw there. PLEEEAAASSSE DADDDDEEEEEE!!!!"

Oh, my gosh....that actually happened to me, too! I saw that shirt at DAK, left that park, thinking I would see it somewhere else....NOT. Had to wait until the next trip I was there....hoping they still had it! THankfully, they did!

LOL! Apparently, it wasn't as popular with everyone as it was me!!! I used to think - "I want that, I'd better buy it now in case I don't see it again".. now its just.. yea, I'll get it later at WOD :)

I think it's more about me being a softie when it comes to my kids. With a 9 year old son and twin 6 year old girls, it's so hard not to be.

Zanna,

What did he write, and for what publisher?

I just asked him to double check but he hasn't worked with the "Complete Idiots" publishers. He's done a "For Dummies" book (CCNP I think? :P) and more recently worked with McGraw Hill doing an Android book (which was unfortunately outdated before it was even published :P) and did a textbook called The Debugger's Handbook. Oh, I guess I could just link his amazon page. It's just something he does on the side when publishers like a proposal he has. :)

Too weird, I can see a copy of The Debugger's handbook from my desk. It's part of the testing team's library.

WHOA! That's really cool! I'll have to tell him! I know the kids love looking for "Daddy's books" in Borders and Barnes and Noble but they are very rarely ever in stock so they just look him up on the in-store computers LOL. I have about 10 copies sitting in our office if anyone wants an autographed copy! :lmao:

QOTD

I agree that Disney needs a new park, or expansions on existing parks (new countries with RIDES in Epcot; overhaul/update rides in MK in addition to the new Fantasyland; new fantasy world park in DAK; and DHS really needs some more kid-friendly rides and stuff to do).

I also agree that the timing of events (special events, ADRs, reservations, park hours, tours, etc) needs to be synchronized better. Disney is not a "normal" vacation in that you can just show up and figure it out once you get there. There is planning to do if you really want to take advantage of Disney's better things.

Now what would I change?

I'd bring back the Dream Team (with me on it of course) and surprise guests with everything from wonderful and exquisite experiences to the free Mickey ice cream bars. The whole concept of Disney is built on magical dreams...what better way than to have guests believe that they could be the next recipient.

We went 2x during the Million Dreams promotion and although I didn't win anything, it was just cool to see others win and to think that I had a chance.
