2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

I try to keep Disney part of my everyday with a lot of things- one of which was taking a job that brought me only 3.5 hours from Orlando instead of Atlanta's 6ish hours. And I truly believe that I got this job because one of my bosses is also a Disney nut, so when they asked me when I could start if they hired me, I told them not until after the first week of January as I was taking my daughter on her first Disney trip! (I had been living overseas for about 4 years, so I was quite anxious to get back to WDW too!!) Immediately, the head boss boss looked at the Disney-crazed boss and said, Oh no! Not another one! And then the rest of the interview we talked about Disney. It was AWESOME... and it's great to work with another Disney nut...

Other than that, we have all the antenna balls for the different seasons, and I have the family stickers on the car along with a Tinkerbell... I drive a red bug, so stickers really are expected, right?

I also have Disney park music from various online radio stations playing constantly on my computer at work all day long. I also have all my souveneirs from my trips to Tokyo Disney and Disneyland Paris in my office, so I can look at those and think of those great trips. I am a felony prosecutor, so my days are stressful, and all my Disney stuff helps keep me calm.

And there's the Disney flatware we eat with every night, and my DD2 also is convinced that the dog's food is full of hidden mickeys. And it is! ;)(We use Beneful.)

Oh Missy, you reminded me, my desk at my office also has a Mickey mouse pad, Mickey business card holder, three different pens I picked up at the parks this year, the Mickey block of note paper, and a small sprial Mickey notepad (leftover from my DS's 3rd birthday party which was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed.). I also have a digital picture frame on my desk where half the pictures that cycle through it are from our WDW trips.

I want the wireless mouse shaped like Mickey's glove! That's on my Christmas list. :rotfl:

Hi Marshay!

Ahhhh! That's cool!

:)

Jud

yeah, it totally surprised us the first time she said it at 3yo ... b/c she really couldn't pronounce "con-vert-ible"...that's a B_I_G word for a 3yo who had speech issues. But once she said 'test track' we just broke out smiling and laughing.

Now it's a daily activity on the road.

Hey marshay!

Just saw your note about our LOs beign the same age. Very cool! Aren't they so much fun!

How do you bring Disney into your everyday life?

Good question! heheheehee...

First and foremost, after coming down to Kiss every year I realized I didn't have to go home, so I moved here so I could go on a whim at any time! Ended up a bit farther out than intended, but closer (and warmer!) than Boston!

As for everyday life, I now see why I didn't make round 2! Most of you put me to shame!

I do the net of course, but as far as 'seeing' Disney, in my house, there is my fridge, on which I taped a Mickey Placemat I loved, and cut one side of a plastic bag, wet the back and squeegeed it on place.

Beyond that, there are various cards, postcards and magnets sent to me by Disney net friends from all over the country and a few other countries hanging on the walls. Best ever was from a little guy I spent the day at AK with and when he got to DL, he told his mom he had to send a postcard of golden Mickey Ears to me!

Oh! And I am usually wearing my Disney decorated denim jacket that makes most who meet me assume I work there.

:)

Jud

yep! I thought I wanted kids closer together ... but now I realize the great benefits of having kids 3 yrs apart -- it's a lot easier than my friends who have kids only 1-2 yrs apart!

But I'm sure you just work with whatever you are given! Personally I like only dealing with one kid in diapers!:rotfl2:

Oh, I bet you smile everytime you walk in your kitchen -- that's so cheery!!

Awww, cute story of the kid and golden Mickey ears.:goodvibes

Mine are 3 years apart too and I didn't want them any closer. Growing up with a brother only 13 mo. younger I never wanted that for my kids.

Plus, I needed to make sure the first one was well out of the crib and into their own bed so I could use the crib for the second one! :)

Here is the question for Waiting Day #4:

Today's question is courtesy of the wonderful input of Marshay. Thanks Marshay! :goodvibes

How do you bring Disney into your everyday life?

Marshay shared with me that she was thinking that with all the Disney love and talent on this thread, certainly people do this a lot.

She said it could be as simple as making Mickey pancakes or more complex like having a Cinderella-themed Christmas tree or a car covered in Mickey Mouse dolls.

Marshay shared with me that she has children's nursery rhymes that she has reworded using Disney themes. :thumbsup2

We are both curious how you bring Disney into your normal life.:tink:

Pardon this, I just realized that there is still 45 more minutes in today! Oh well I am a bit early for tomorrow!

Since you mentioned weddings........DH and I celebrated a Disney "couples" Theme for our 25th, we had a very small ceremony when we were married as we were both very young. I was 16 and he was 19, so when it came to our 25th we decided we wanted to celebrate with something big and therefore had a wedding renewal ceremony, reception and 2nd honeymoon.

We purchased the Mickey top hat and Minnie veil, placed a 2 on one ear and 5 on the other. Wore those on our entry when we were announced into the reception. Our colors were blue/silver and we had the "year of a million dreams" stuffed characters of Mickey, Minnie, Goofie, Donald, Chip & Dale and Pluto on the tables with the cake, candy table, etc.

Then, at each guest table we made table name markers with the "couples", such as Cinderella & Prince Charming, Beauty & The Beast, Donald& Daisy, Mickey & Minnie, etc. we had stickers of each character on the appropriate table. My DH bought me a few Jim Shore things, Cinderellas Castle and Carriage, these were placed at our head table along with the Mickey and Minnie groom/bride dolls.

It was truly a magical night......we were then off to the Contemporary for the start to our 2nd honeymoon, stayed there for 2 nights and then stayed at Wilderness Lodge Villas for 2 nights. We wore our hats and had shirts airbrushed with our celebration to wear, it was truly a special time. We then flew to New York for 5 nights so I was able to enjoy the huge World of Disney store there, too LOL.

Thanks for letting me share my magical experience.

How do you bring Disney into your everyday life?

Oh boy! I do not think we have enough space here for me to write it all out. For us Disney is everywhere. My kids rooms were Disney themed the twins started out as Pooh and friends, then 101 Dalmatians, then princess'. My oldest was always Beauty and the Beast. Ok, in our kitchen we have the Disney toaster that chimes the Mickey Mouse Club theme when you use it. Numerous baking dishes, Pooh Bear clock, and magnets on the fridge. Dining room has my Disney collectibles in the curio. Living room has Disney stuff on the mantle. Family is all Disney. Pins and posters on wall. Stuffed animals on the mantle. Disney books in the bookcase, and all of our DVD's in the cabinets. Our cars have Disney license plate holders (til our next inspection :( ) and Mickey antenna toppers. We won't even mention my Disney haunted ghost tombstones I have out now, or the Haunted Mansion plaque handing on the door. Or my Vampire Mickey all for Halloween. Then for Christmas it is a Disney tree (with the monorail circling it), with Disney runners on the tables, Disney nutcrackers and Main St. pieces. I go all out Disney outside with the Christmas Disney inflatables!

We are Hispanic so our daughter celebrate their Quince when they turn 15. Big huge event. I explain it as a wedding with all the pizazz, without a groom :) Anyway my oldest had a Cinderella theme. We even had a coach that lit up that you could sit in. The favors were glass slippers on small gold cushions. My twins are starting to plan theirs, and they are having a Mad Hatter Tea party theme! My little God- daughter will be Alice :)

I am always planning our next trip or helping someone else plan their trip. Currently I am planning one person at work, my brother and his families trip, and two of my own!!!! Not to mention the many hours I spend here, either reading or posting. Disney is a way of life for us.

Thanks again for all the thoughtful wishes and kind words during my families spell of H1N1. Let me just say not fun, not fun, not fun! PTL we are all fever free and have turned the proverbial corner. My asthma took a pretty good hit, but so far it's managable. I will pray that everyone stays healthy, especially all of our 2nd rounder's and their families.

Missy, I saw one of your updates, and I honestly don't understand what the 2 week hold up is on seeing the surgeon. I posted that I had a serious health scare in the breast department myself. I called my gyn, got in the next day, he examined me, sent me the very next day to see the surgeon. Once I saw the surgeon, he ordered a mammogram followed by ultrasound all during the course of the visit. I was there over four hours until he was satisfied and sent me home. I went last week because I am now on his "watch list" and again he ran all the tests until he was satisfied that everything was ok. The center that I go to is all inclusive and has all the equipement on-site. Perhaps that is not the case with you, which might explain the two week gap. Another thought would be call your PCP(primary care doctor) and ask for the results. Everytime I go for a mammogram, the results are sent to his office as well. At least they may be willing to share the results a little sooner than the surgeon. I will continue to pray for you. I can understand how anxious and worried you must feel. It feels like your life is on hold waiting and the waiting is always the hardest part. There are a lot of people here who are in your corner and wish the best for you.:grouphug:

As to the question how I bring Diney into my life. There isn't enough space to tell you. I wear it, decorate with it, inspire others to adopt it, share and infuse Disney in all areas of my families life, scrapbook it, crave more of it, and listen contentedly when my kids do the very same thing.;)

Hey Missy, if your doctor can't arrange for you to get in any sooner, I'd go see another doctor, Gyn or otherwise...see if they can get you a mammogram and any follow-ups needed on a quicker timeline.

Go! Go! Go!! Round 2ers! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Maroo! We find out next Tuesday. :scared1: :surfweb:

:) Happy to see you here!!

And Stitchnut....I am so happy to hear that you are all feeling better! :goodvibes

I am 11 years younger than my next sibling, so I definitely wanted my kids to be closer in age. I think we have a good span of time between the two. Only having one in diapers is great! They are already playing together and so far very little toy challenges. :yay:

Stitchnut and Connie- my mammogram is tomorrow morning at 9am, so prayers/good thoughts are most appreciated! I'll ask tomorrow if he'll send them to my PCP and I also planning on asking the radiologist if he sees anything right off that might be concerning. If that's the case, I'll get right on it. If they send them to the PCP, I know I will get the results sooner, because I am assuming that if I don't get it from my PCP, I'll have to wait til Nov 10th when I see the surgeon! I am also planning on asking for a copy for myself so I can have it to take somewhere else if I need to.

I live in smalltown, GA, USA- healthcare is reasonable and accessible but there aren't enough docs/specialists for all the people. Thankfully, I'm from Atlanta and still have an ob/gyn there, so depending on what happens tomorrow, I may see if I can't get in to see someone up there asap. I finally had to break down and ask from something to take for my anxiety- it was very difficult being a single mom to a busy 2 yr old when you're worried sick, literally. So, they put me on paxil- which, from what I can tell takes 2 weeks to kick in, sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? In 2 weeks, I won't be anxious anymore, since I'll know what I'm dealing with. I am actually really good in a crisis- I'm a trial lawyer- my problem is not knowing on whether I need to go into crisis mode or not!

And, to make matters worse... I'm moving and have to be out of my house by Nov 1. Stress, anyone?

So, I've just posted on my facebook page that I've decided I'm going to be obsessed about the mom's panel and not obsessed about my breast health until I know what I'm dealing with... it's much more fun, and seemingly a little more productive.

On that note, do we know what sort of questions people get asked in the final round phone interview? I'm not counting any chickens, naturally, but it would be nice to have some sort of inkling...

And we find out when, Tuesday? Am I right on that?

And again, I can't thank all of you enough for all your support and encouragement... this has to be the scariest thing I've been through yet.
