2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

OH MY!! I can't even imagine the horror that you must have gone through when this happened. What did you do? Did they have a cake (a quick Costco run??):lmao:

I was following in the car behind and I basically screamed out loud when I saw the cake move. I had not assembled the top layer yet so it was the two base layers that hit the seat.

By the time I had reached the reception hall I had regained my composure. I took a deep breath and approached the back of the car. It was not too bad just some slight denting and a little tilt. I had used fondant as the frosting so I figured I could try to repair the damage.

Well great idea but everyone else was all freaked out! :rotfl: This was the night before the wedding and the cake was to sit at the hall until the reception the next afternoon. I wanted to go ahead and assemble the cake.

The bottom layers were very secured with wooden dowels and although the fondant had a dent in it, I was certain that the foundation was good enough to hold the top layer.

DH and DD decided, behind my back BTW, :upsidedow to not allow me to put on the top tier. They said they figured that a wedding cake in two pieces was better than a cake crashed to the floor. I literally threw a fit but to no avail. They won and the cake stayed in two pieces. I hated it but guests said it was lovely!:confused3:lmao:

Here a few picks of it. It is not perfect but it was certainly made with love and tasted divine!

It looks small in the pics but the top layers were 14" cakes. The bottoms were 16" and 18". Here colors were lavender and yellow so I did ribbon weaving into the base layers. It was fun to do but just too much emotion involved in doing it for a daughter!

Wow. Glad it survived, but damn! I want to eat it NOW!!! Oh that looks good... I'm drooling...

wow, that decorating is sooooo delicate and beautiful! So glad you were able to have your cake and eat it too (OK, I couldn't resist that! :lmao:)

Somehow I missed that this was for your daughter? Oh, my, how much more pressure that was for you.

Probably better to have a cake in two sections, then risk having no cake at all. But i'm sorry for you that you weren't able to have the cake as you imagined it.

Has anyone heard from Missy lately? Does anyone know how she is doing?

Hi.... I've just been sort of lurking around here lately... getting hungry for a dole whip!

I'm doing ok, I have the mammogram scheduled for Thursday and then go to see the surgeon on Nov 10th- why, in heaven's name, it takes 14 days for me to get to the surgeon after the mammogram, I have no clue. Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to keep it together, stay busy at work, and stay busy with a very crazy 2 year old, who is mad at me because I had to cancel our disney trip this weekend- keeps yelling, "I wanna see Nemo at Ett-cot!" I was hoping to make food & wine this year, but, alas, it will have to wait.

In other crazy mommy news, I managed to get Gemma all the way to daycare before I realized I had put her shoes on the wrong feet... so she was was shuttled back to the car for a quick change so her teacher didn't think I was a total basketcase. Sigh. These days I'm doing good to get us both fed, dressed, and out the door in the mornings!

Thanks for caring, guys... as I said before, it's great to be part of such a loving caring community!

Glad you checked in with us!

To make you smile. Having shoes on the wrong feet is NOTHING compared to DS going to school. He once refused to get dressed for Pre-k. He did not want to go. He was not going to get dressed. I put him naked in the van with his clothes and drove to the school. We sat in front of the school and he still refused to get dressed. :scared1:

I had another mom come over and stand next to the van while I went inside to get the pre-K teacher. She came out and told him it was a rule that he had to have clothes on and all his friends were waiting so they could begin their morning. He finally got dressed. UGGGGH.

She also had to finally tell him it was a rule you had to wear socks AND underpants to school and leave them on. Yeah. I had the naked kid in Pre-K.

I hope you will continue to check in from time to time.

Here is the Day Three Waiting Day question:

If you could make one change to anything in Walt Disney World what would it be?

Can you imagine getting on the Magic Express Bus or on the monorail and find yourself joined by Mickey himself? :goodvibes I think that would be such an addition to the characters role in Disney. Have them appear randomly in places where others are not expecting them. :yay:

Hugs to all the parents of young children. Just remember that they are little for so short a time!
In reference to the shoes on the wrong feet. It happened so often in our home that we developed a term for it. We called it stepping out!

Hi Missy!

Good to see you!

Ahhhh! ETT cot!!! Always had trouble with that- now I know why!!!

As for the 14 days, seems totally ridiculous to me- bordering on the criminal! I mean we are told all the time how important early detection and treatment are! Geesh!

Best wishes and lots of Pixie Dust!

:)

Yeah. I had the naked kid in Pre-K.

I know of another Mom who went through this with her DD, the not wanting to wear clothes thing, and it makes me curious (not having any of my own.)

Is this something all little ones go through? I wonder what this is all about?

Missy, still praying for you and hoping that somehow you are seen earlier. Hang in there. I have twin daughters and when they were little I was known for putting two left feet on one child and two right on the other. We were always late!

Yesterday went to the dr. and found out I had pnuemoia. Took my meds when I got home and tried to rest and sleep. Went to work today and man, not a good idea! Wish I was home under the covers!!!

If you could make one change to anything in Walt Disney World what would it be?

I would have them STOP building hotels and start adding more to the parks! Ok, is that two things? They keep adding hotel rooms but the parks have not gotten larger so we are more and more crowded. We need room in the parks!

I would bring back Walt and get rid of Wall!

As in Wall Street: as in the operating basis that now exists that only sees the stock quotes as opposed to the Dream.

Glo! You know better than that!!! Get thee home and to bed!

Ah! Good one! Or a 'Fifth Gate'!

It has become too crowded! I feel bad for those who have gone recently for the first time. Back in the last half of the 90's, there were 'slow seasons', which really don't exist anymore due to all the very successful efforts to fill those times by Disney Marketing.

One cannot imagine how much more fun and enjoyable the parks were when it was slow and uncrowded! And by uncrowded, I don't mean 15 minute lines: I mean no lines! And everything was open! Now if the attendance is down 10% (for instance) they close things- like carts and restaurants... I was once in the Studios at high noon and I never saw more than 4 other people! there were CM's roaming the streets looking to talk to someone! It was great! LOL!

Gloria, Please go home and rest. Get your priorities straight lady! And that is said with concern not bossiness! You are no good to your employer, your family, and most importantly yourself when you are not 100%!

Do your realize that with pneumonia your lungs have fluid and infection in them? Are you experiencing a death wish? :confused3 :rotfl: You need to get better not worse and nothing is more important than that!
Tell your employer bye bye and go rest up!

Oh dear I need to step off my mothering soap box! :lmao:

Now about naked kids, yep it is a stage they go through or at least most of them do. :dance3: I had it more with the girls than the boys. Around two they all seemed to want to what we called the "naked dance". After their nightly bath they would "escape" from the bath towel and run around the house being silly. :cool1:

One good thing about children who like to take off their clothes; they potty train easily! :cheer2: Since they can undress themselves they can get to the bathroom without adult help and that alone is half the process!

Missy, You are in my thoughts often. I know it is frustrating when the medical profession sees no urgency. Keep advocating for yourself! Sad to say but a patient who advocates for themselves or has someone doing it for them, gets healthy quicker!

Jud

Most do. It all depends on the child.

He still prefers to be without clothes at home. The rule in our house is you have to put on clothes if you go outside, someone is coming over or someone gets tired of looking at you they can ask you to go put clothes on. It is happening less and less the older he gets but he still goes through periods of time where he walks in the door and off go the clothes. :)

One thing to change about WDW?

The freaking reservations dates.

I'm organizing my first DVC trip for May 27th, 2010. So here are the dates I have to keep track of:

11 months: Book with home resort (done)
7 months: Change to "non home" resort
6 months: dining ADRs, Bippity Boppidy Boutique, Pirates league
90 days: tours (Seguay tour), family photo shoot

All this and I STILL have no idea if STAR WARS weekend is even going on that weekend, which is the whole point of going at the end of May. Heck, the park hours aren't even out yet. I don't want to reserve weekend ADRs at Hollywood studios if there's no Starwars weekend, but if I wait until the Starwars dates are announced, I'll miss out on getting a hotel room and ADRs.

Can we please synchronize the park date, reservation date, special event date and ADR dates? Please? Too much to ask?

Also, I sure hope there's no swimsuit competition for the Moms panel, not to mention a ballroom gown one.

Are you kidding me? My pooh sized body in a bathing suit? I would rather not, thank you very much.

Please take care of yourself. This can have you in the hospital very quickly. I have been there before get a note from your dr. and get home to rest!

Here is the Day Three Waiting Day question:

If you could make one change to anything in Walt Disney World what would it be?

I would like to see them start a rotational program of updating rides and shows. Some of them need new special effects or new story lines. Or even new rides or shows in their places. I would like them to take one or two rides or attractions in each park for "special attention" each year above and beyond the regular repair and refurbishment work. Try to figure out how to make them new and fresh. IJ comes to mind. That seriously needs updating or scrapping for something new.

Leave the historic Walt originals. Have the ride open for 6 months while the team worked on the planning and prep work then another team gets 3-6 months to fix it while the original team moves on to updating another ride or show. That way only one ride in each park is closed for this at a time but you get fresher ideas.

Can you tell I think about this quite a bit?:)

I think I would like to bring back the skyride. (as long as it didn't break down every couple of hours).. But the question is what would I change so -- I will rephrase --"to have never taken the skyride away." :goodvibes
