Here is the question for Waiting Day #4:

Today's question is courtesy of the wonderful input of Marshay. Thanks Marshay! :goodvibes

How do you bring Disney into your everyday life?

Marshay shared with me that she was thinking that with all the Disney love and talent on this thread, certainly people do this a lot.

She said it could be as simple as making Mickey pancakes or more complex like having a Cinderella-themed Christmas tree or a car covered in Mickey Mouse dolls.

Marshay shared with me that she has children's nursery rhymes that she has reworded using Disney themes. :thumbsup2

We are both curious how you bring Disney into your normal life.:tink:

Pardon this, I just realized that there is still 45 more minutes in today! Oh well I am a bit early for tomorrow!

My favorite answer to this question ties in with the wedding pictures I posted earlier. For favors at DD's wedding we served Mickey Mouse shaped Rice Crispy treats. We coated each pair of mouse ears in chocolate, wrapped them, and placed one at each table setting for the reception. We also did a candy buffet with Mickey and Minnie stuffed toys sitting atop all the candy.
The DD and SIL took a Disney Honeymoon and stayed at the Beach Club Villas.

The best part is what they rather unknowingly brought home with them.......:woohoo::goodvibes........ we are now expecting our first grandchild. Do I dare suggest Disney inspired names?

Ya! Great question- ask me in the morning!

hehehehee...

Smarty! :lmao: I really didn't mean to post this before tomorrow but this way I can get some extra sleep in the morning and not feel guilty about coming here to post a question.

Just pretend that you all do not see this right now. :rotfl::dance3:

I am so behind! Well at least I am back at work so I have 8 hours to catch up!

Favorite dessert: mmmmm probably the chocolate mousse that was pictured earlier, it was delish!

Dream Job: I have applied for many Disney jobs over the years, and iIam acutally currently waiting to hear back on a few. I would love to be a dream team type person, someone who could make people's trips memorable, but all CMs really do that! I'd settle for pretty much anything at this point!

What I would change: Hmmmmmm, I love disney so much its hard for me to think of somthing I dont like... but I would like to see some updates to rides etc, along the lines of the plans for fantasyland, and more countries would be awesome! It wouldn't hurt if they lowered the prices for registration for the marathon and other races...

How do I bring Disney into my everyday life: I can't seem to not talk about Disney. I am currently talking to my parents about doing another Christmas trip like we did 2 years ago. I had a phenomenal time, and I was 6 months pregnant, so it was sucha new experience for me. My ds has already been to Disney this past august, but Disney at Christmas is a whole different ballgame.

I'm up way too early and thought I would stop by and check on everyone.. It appears I am the only one up. :rotfl2:

I think I carry Disney into my everyday life and not even realize it!! If I mention doing something on Facebook that is non-Disney related, I get lots of comments suggesting shock that Disney is not on my agenda for that day. :)
:)
Otherwise, I do the usual-- Mickey Pancakes, themed parties complete with costumes for DS birthday, the annual Christmas letter and photo have Disney in them.. don't get me started on the Christmas ornaments and other seasonal decorations.:wizard:

Morning all! :goodvibes

OK...let's see, Disney in my everyday life:

- my oldest daughter's nursery was all Winnie the Pooh (this was chosen even before we knew if she was going to be a girl!). Everything was Pooh - the bedding, the decor, the stroller/car seat, pack-n-play, high chair, diaper bag. Everything!

- the kids keep Disney in our everyday life by "playing" Disney World every single day. No joke.

- each year my Christmas tree is 95% Disney ornaments

- my kitchen -- which is red and white -- has a Mickey cookie jar, dishtowels and pot holders. I have to restrain myself from buying all the Mickey kitchen things!

- I spend several hours every day talking to my Disney friends on Twitter (I am thinking I'm a wee bit addicted to Twitter...but that's not so bad!) :surfweb:

- I collect Disney snowglobes & magnets - I bring new ones home from each trip to WDW.

- I try to keep the memories of our most recent Disney trip current with scrapbooks and photo albums -- the kids LOVE looking at these. "Can we read our Disney books tonight?" is a common question in our house.

- My DD5 likes to find 'hidden Mickeys' in normal things. Sometimes she succeeds. :)

It's really just the little things I guess. Drinking my morning java in my "Grumpy" coffee mug, sending out holiday cards using a Disney vacation photo, bookcases lined with Disney books, writing my blog full of Disney travel tips, listening to several Disney podcasts, reading Disney-themed blogs....little things like that.

My DH just listens as I go on and on about Disney stuff ... but the rest of my family, well let's just say they don't "get it". :rotfl:

[Oh, and I'm considering getting a small Mickey tattoo to celebrate Round 2 of the Mom's Panel]. ;)

My wife was the huge Disney fan. I bought her all the VHS movies (those are TAPES young ones, go ask your parents), snow globes, crystal ornaments, and just about everything from when the Disney stores were actually good, and not just an extension of Walmart.

I proposed to her during intermission of the play "Beauty and the Beast", over the loud speaker, with the spotlight directly on us (no pressure). We even had a Disney themed wedding, with all the groomsman and bridesmaids having their own mouse ears at the reception.

These days my kids and I keep Disney in our lives every day in a number of ways. The Family Channel (Canada's Disney channel) is on one of our TVs almost all the time, unless a Disney DVD or Bluray is on instead. I admit, I think Finnius and Ferb is one of teh funniest shows on TV.

I listen to 3 or more Disney podcasts each week, and try to keep up with Disney, D23 and DVC events through online boards or web sites.

Plus it's just a mindset. Disney makes me happy. Why else would I plan a trip over 7 months out?

Another good question! Well to begin with, I am in perpetual planning mode. I always have a trip in the works. When I finish one trip, another one is booked and in the planning process. I actually get depressed if there isn't something on the horizon, dates are always swirling around in my head!

Also, my house is like a mini disney museum. My kitchen is decked out in gourmet mickey from the wall clock to the dishes, even salt and pepper shakers. My curio is filled with collectibles, there's a Walt shelf, a Lady and the Tramp shelf, a Castle shelf, Mickey shelf. I'd take a pic, but it needs dusted, lol.
Every picture on my walls is Disney related, lithographs, a wide angle Main Street above the fireplace that I bought at Art of Disney, Mickey sketching a picture of Walt (a real find on ebay!), Lady & The Tramp sketch behind the TV, the phones, the lamps, all Disney! I have a Mickey and Pluto topiary in my yard that attracts quite a bit of attention. Not real but you have to touch it to see it's not real. Even the dog and cat bowls are from Disney. You cannot escape it if you live here, lol.

Me, I am on Disney-related sites all day. I like to keep up to date on what's going on and chat with my fellow DVC friends and/or Disney nuts like myself. I am lucky in that my husband loves Disney almost as much as I do. He turns on live365 to listen to "his disney music" while he cleans up the kitchen. Kids are older now and love other places as well but we try to get to Disney with them at least once a year, other times with friends or each other.

Great question :)

We keep Disney in our lives in many ways, but I think it's the "small stuff" that will add up to childhoods full of Disney Magic for our children.

*I make Mickey pancakes, and the ones for my girls have to have Minnie's bow...creative pan-caking, it's an art ;)

*We have the seasonal antennae toppers for the car, currently "Pumpkin Mickey" proudly bobbles along down the road.

*Pooh and Eeyore salt shakers and other kitchen things.

*At milestone marks in the trip planning process, I make a Disney themed desserts. For example, at 6 months out, I make Mickey cupcakes, etc.

*We buy the same style photo album each trip, and have 20 or so chock full of photos in the living room. They are the kind you write next to each photo...a brief description or memory jogger. The kids often sit down and reminisce together.

* In addition, we always buy one of those "special" character frames and we enlarge a family photo to put in it. Those are all over our entertainment center...a "snap-shot" of each trip.

*We also HAVE to get a Christmas ornament on each trip, and our tree skirt is gorgeous bright red and gold with Minnie/Mickey themed embroidery. Then, of course, there are the snowglobes, Mickey music boxes and countless other decor. If Disney is my first love, Christmas is my second...watch out when I combine the two!! ;)

*Disney themed flannel sheets...yeah, you get the idea...Disney is everywhere in our house.
:)

*A game of dress-up anyone??!! I think we have every single Disney princess costume (plus Minnie Mouse) with accessories...and Dash, Buzz, Prince Caspian and more for the boys.

*We're DVC members, so we sit down with the kids and browse the newest mailings together...the Tree House Villas sure look fun :)

*I can't recall the last day that went by that at least one of the kids didn't "talk Disney" with me. Seriously, it is as second nature to chat about either a Disney memory or future trip as it is to talk about the weather.

:) I'd keep rambling, but the school nurse just called ... another one bites the dust. My DS-13 has to be picked up...darned seasonal colds/stomach bugs. :(

Have a good day everyone.

Great Question of the Day!

::MickeyMo So the obvious, I am on the DISboards and Disney website almost daily.

::MickeyMo My DS watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Playhouse Disney on a daily basis. (Alamode, I agree, Phinneas & Ferb is one of the best cartoons that has come out for the whole family in awhile.)

::MickeyMo My DS and I watch 'You Tube' videos of the rides every week and/or listen to theme park music.

::MickeyMo The CD player in my car is pretty much all Disney music.

::MickeyMo Friday is casual day at work which means Mickey Shirt!

::MickeyMo Saturday is pancake breakfast day and I use the Mickey cookie cutters you can get at the parks to make Mickey shaped pancakes. DS gets to pour the batter into the cookie cutter.

::MickeyMo We are DVC owners and I am in the midst of planning our next trip in May. So, I am always talking about it with my DS and DH.

::MickeyMo There are pictures from our last two visits all over the house, including a slide show screen saver on our computer.

::MickeyMo DS gets 30 minutes of computer play time on PlayhouseDisney.com each day.

What is your LO going to be for Halloween?

My DS (4) is going to be Captain Hook and DS (8 m) is going to be Pooh!

You guys with the little ones bring back memories of when mine were little and their whole world was Disney! Enjoy this time with them, as I know you will. The more memories you can make the better. All too soon, they grow up and want to see/visit other places. My kids swore they'd never want to go anywhere else but they DO grow up and grow out of somethings. We do try to get there as a family at least once a year but so many other things invade their lives and mom and dad trips get put on the back burner aka if nothing better comes along! Older son went out West and loves it out there, younger son wants to go out there now too (we have an RV). I guess I can compromise some day since DisneyLAND is out there, lol.

My DD-5 is going to be Belle :lovestruc She decided months ago she was going to be Belle, and hasn't wavered ; DD-7 really wants to be Jasmine...but doesn't want to layer up. I'm still working on convincing her that a bare belly at the end of October, in Cape Cod, at night...isn't a great idea ;) DS's are still deciding too. :)

I just want to say I am in awe and so proud to be part of this community. It is so much fun reading about how everyone brings Disney into their life, esp all the merchandise and constant Disney talking. I can say "me, too" to a lot of it and also getting good ideas!:thumbsup2

I know it's been said before, but I truly love coming on DIS, and esp this thread to chat with you all.:grouphug:

Hey Connie ... I just realized we have kids the same age-ish!

My DD4 is going to be Tinkerbelle.

My DD7m is going to be Minnie Mouse.

I hope everyone posts pics of the kids in their Disney costumes after Halloween!:thumbsup2

DD5 will be Snow White @ her school's party on Friday and a bride on Halloween. Oh and one of the princesses this Sunday when we go to the zoo for their Halloween celebration.

DD2 is going to be Tinker Bell for the zoo party and Minnie Mouse for Halloween.

Me? I'm putting on my Minnie Ears! :)

Disney in my Everyday Life

We like to take songs/rhymes and change them into Disney ones. Nothing too complex but it's just fun.

This little piggy went to Magic Kingdom
This little piggy went to Epcot
This little piggy went to Disney's Hollywood Studios
This little piggy went to Animal Kingdom
And this little piggy cried, 'whee whee whee ... I don't ever want to go home'

Oh, and whenever my DD4 sees a convertible on the road, she shouts out, "There's a convertible -- just like Test Track!"

Here is the question for Waiting Day #4:

How do you bring Disney into your everyday life?

It's funny because as I look around we don't have very many Disney tschokes. For such Disney loving family that strikes me as odd but we really don't have many decorations in our house.

I guess we keep Disney alive by:

* My children have just about every Disney movie and watch them along with the planning VCR tapes and DVDs just about every day. They are off school today and are watching Playhouse Disney (and PBS).

* My children have just about every Disney storybook ever made. We have shelves of just Disney books - The pop-up Disney book of the parks is their favorite along with the Peter Pan pop-up one. Quite a few are so old that they need to have an adult with them to look at.

* I am always planning a trip if not for us then for friends and family. Even my children are starting to get in on this. They love talking to their cousins and friends who are planning trips to give them ideas of places to try. :rotfl: They take after their Mommy!

* I blog about our trips for first time planners.

* Disney is part of our discussion EVERY DAY. It is my DS's perseverative so at least part of every day is spent on discussing the parks, the rides or the hotels with him. Hmmm. Maybe I need to turn him onto the restaurants....

* Our Christmas tree is just about all Disney and all Halloween costumes must be Disney themed. I have Tinkerbell and Peter Pan this year. Last year it was Cinderella themed, before that Ariel and Flounder, .....

* All of our change each day is emptied into our Disney Jar. It is on our library table and the kids know exactly what the money is for. Every month or so we wrap change and take it to the bank to add to our vacation fund.

Less than one week left!!!!!!
