20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

Has anyone had an experience with the excursions that have age limits? My DD4 will be 5 in November and we are really wanting to do the the Dolphin Encounter that says the age limit is 5. How strict are they? Is this a DCL imposed policy? Also, what are some of the excursions others have tried with positive or negative feelings?

for me..
College team - Utah
Pro team - Nine-ers
Profesional Baseball - Boring waste of time
Teams I love to hate... I won't go there because it will ruffle all your feathers...We'll just say "BS"C I mean BCS.
Soccer - Real Salt Lake and DC United.

Soccer, by the way will be the number one sport in a few short years. Ya all better get up with the times.

OK - I've said my peace and I'll say no more. Talking sports is just about as bad as talking politics.

Jeff

For me
College Georgia
Pro team Falcons (even in the really bad years)
Pro Baseball Braves
Team I hate Florida (No matter how good we are we just can not beat them)
Soccer Do they really have those here?

I have read on other threads that they really do enforce the age restrictions. On our last cruise, my son was 3 1/2 and we did an excursion in every port (not just a beach visit---really fun stuff), BUT that was Western Caribbean, so I can't answer any Eastern questions. Sorry. :confused3

I can tell you that we hated the glass-bottom boat ride at Castaway Cay. I found another thread out there most other people disliked it too, but it all depends on what you like. I didn't like it because you have to stand to see the fish, which was fine for adults, but really little kids couldn't see much. And there wasn't much to see anyway--the only fish we saw were when the driver stopped the boat and threw handfulls of oatmeal into the water. Little tiny fish like you'd see in a large fishtank swarmed up to eat. Old rickety boat that I thought for sure would fall apart or sink any second. However, I'm sure it's just the luck of the draw and just depends on what happens to be swimming around at the time of your boat ride, so other people may be lucky and see great stuff.

ok, just a quick sports comment...

Have you ever had to root for the Boilermakers? I have and that's just plan embarrassing. "Go Boilermakers" Strikes fear in you doesn't it?

Oh - are there other pro football teams beside the STEELERS???? Wow, I'm learning lots from the DIS.

Hey, we've been watching 'Footballers Wives' on BBC America! Does that make me a soccer fan?

I tried to get one of the 4 obstructed verandah's, which I had last time and LOVED, but they were all taken when I booked last September...

Hi Holly! :wave2: Well you have us to blame for one of those, anyway... we've got one! :boat: We had a navigator's last time and actually liked it a lot-- felt a bit more secure with our DD who was only 3 at the time!

Lucky you! Way to go! :thumbsup2 I'll try again another time. My little munchkin and I loved it last year! :teeth:

I suppose sports is safer than politics but maybe not.

Just to throw out my $.02... The only sport I care about, and I can't say that I care much to be honest, is college football. So, Go U Northwestern! and whoever's playing Notre Dame or USC that day. I'm also partial to whoever is playing the Seminoles. Can't stand that indian 'chant' they do! Have already told my kids that despite their FL prepaid tuition plans, they are not allowed to be Seminoles. Period.

My least favorite game of the year- ND vs USC- all I can root for is a tornado to hit the stadium in the middle of the game!

I always root for MI unless they're playing NU--if it hadn't been for them beating the Buckeyes, NU wouldn't have gone to the Rose Bowl or tied for 1st in the Big 10 (11) the following year.

Anyone want to start on politics now? :Pinkbounc

By the way, TD 4 or is it TS Debby yet, is still a long way out there but so far it looks like it will (knock on wood) be beyond us by next weekend. Keep those fingers x'd!

Ok, you have convinced me. Our reservations are for 730, if you overlap, stop by the table and say hi!

Hi Robin!

Our reservation is set for 8pm, but we figure we will meander up there a bit early. We have already talked with PJ and set up our server...Girish. We had had him as a server a few cruises back. He is wonderful. His wife is a Head Server on the Animator Palate rotation. Her name is Aleksandra and she is truly lovely. Milan is another server that we have had in Palo's. He was on the Lumiere rotation at the end of July, so should be back up in Palo's. He is very good and quite charming. If you have heard of Marco...as he is a legend in Palo's...he was supposed to be heading home until the next contract. Anyway, we will definitely look for you up there! I hope you do enjoy!

Okay...We are Notre Dame fans! Go Irish!!! We also support the Illini. Both DH and I are Bradley Brave graduates for undergrad. I am a Cub fan and Tom is a Cardinal fan. Our kids remain neutral on the issue. We tend to follow more golf...Ryder Cup-go USA!!!

Somebody asked what the obnoxious number of points was...well, when the post was written it made more sense. It is in regards to DVC points and it is actually only around 1000. We originally bought in at 230...but added on 4 times. If I could, I would add another 1000.

So, what has been decided on what we are bringing to the meet????

Took DD to her Freshman orientation at her high school today. Been sobbing ever since. This was actually harder than kindergarten. :sad2:

Well, better run for now. Hope to see what all everyone says later today!

I'm game.

I'm a registered Whig. Used to be in the 'Know Nothing' party, but I learned about DISBoards, so I had to quit.

Somebody asked this earlier, and I'm not sure anybody responded yet: Did we every come up with a total number of kids coming to the DIS meet? I plan on looking for something small to bring all the kidlets. An age breakdown would be good too. If I get time later tonight, I'll sit down and figure it out.

I've got a running list. I just need to add the new parties and the "others" from the past three weeks and I'll snd it out. Look for it later today.

thanks Holly- I was thinking about that yesterday at target and started to grab a couple things but had no idea how many of anything so I did nothing! Lame. I know. But my time is limited these days by multiple dr. appts. that I have to fit in while DD is at preschool. I'm seeing the chiropractor for my neck. ugh.

However, if someone will come up with a count I'll try to get a little something. No one has yet confirmed- are we 2pm or 2:30 in the promenade lounge on Sat?? Capt. Blue- what say's you?

Here is my foray into sports

1. Favorite baseball team--The Detroit Tigers of 1968 (I have no idea who has played since and do not care to know)
2. Team most likely to choke--University of Michigan every time they went to the Rose Bowl
3. Favorite basketball team--Detroit Pistons (but only when they were called the Bad Boys of Bastketball)
4. THE football team of the 70s--the Steelers of course
5. Sport with most rabid fans--NASCAR (they would buy anything advertised on a NASCAR car)
6. Fans most likely to boo--Eagles fans
7. Most expensive place I ever ate while attending a sporting event--Turner Field (I kept looking for the guy with the fast loans so I could pay for my hot dogs and nachos)

As to the meeting, I vote for 2:30 p.m. And, the little ice princesses will be there (age 11 or according to the princesses 11 and 11/12).

Works for me. How about both? (Extended periods in a bar are NOT bad things!)

Monstro, does your list have nics and real names on it? Maybe you could post it when finished?

Anybody heard what movies they're showing on board these days?

As far as I can tell, the time of the meet is still 2:30 on Saturday.

And the movies onboard will surely be Cars and Pirates 2, but haven't heard what else.

Jeff: Thanks for offering to post the list of kids later. That will be a great help! :teeth:
