Sports and parents!

Over the last couple of years we have been first hand witnesses to some amazing parental displays. DH was coach of our 8th grade girls basketball team. Tom is a very fair coach who believes in positive motivation...yet his first foray into women's athletics was quite fun to witness. :rotfl2: After the second month the girls adored him, loved the progress they were making, and amazed at their ability. The second year he held a perfect record of 32 and 0. It was a truly extraordinary group of girls...of which our Abby was a big part. In three years their record was 90-4. They won our Diocesan title all three years...as 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Having them go to different high schools is hard to watch. Anyway, I tend to be a positive voice in the crowd...unless games are being called unfairly. Never criticize the opponents but did get a bit miffed at a couple of refs...you would have to agree at the bias if you heard the story! Anyway, to alleviate some of the stress of tournament time, I went out and bought a roll of Royal Blue and a roll of White Duct Tape. When we got to the games, I put the tape over my mouth. The refs cracked up...not the same refs, and they appreciated. So did our girls.

The golf incident was a bit more stressful! Imagine hearing the F word several times, said at you...and your group...then seeing an actual knock down drag out fight on the 11th green! Yes...junior golf! It was not a good afternoon. The kids really suffered. The scary part of the story is that the gentleman that did much of the swearing was a PGA pro!

Well, if you don't like ND, let me know and I'll bring my Blue and Gold Duct Tape!!!

I have heard of going to a hockey game and a fight break out. And, I have heard the joke that "I went to the fight and a hockey game brought out." But, this is the first time, I heard of going to a junior golf tournament and a fight breaking out. :rolleyes1

How do you self create a tag?

I was bored and clicking around on stuff to see what everything actually does here, and stumbled across how to do that.

Click on "User CP" towards the top of this page. Then click on "Edit Profile" on the left side of the page. Then you'll see "Custom User Title" where you can enter your own.

We learn something new every day! :thumbsup2

Wow, This board is much more active than that "other" board. I'm trying to keep up but you guys are making it really HARD!!!! :goodvibes I can't wait to meet all of you, I only wish I would have found this board earlier!
I think I read somewhere that someone needed first names so here is my clan
Traci
Rob
Kids:
Emily 10
Hannah 8
Grace 6
Joey 4
MIL
Manie
her boyfriend
Larry (we are avoiding him like the plauge!)
Thanks so much for including us in everything and thanks for all your organizing everything! :yay:

Hi we will be on the cruise with you on 2nd Sept.
We are in Orlando doing the parks next week then hopefully chill out the second week on the cruise.
We have never cruised before so not sure what to expect.
My DDs are 4+5 so they will love it but not sure about my DH?? He’s 42 going on 62 so I hope to inject a bit of fun into him while we are away :joker:
Gotta go as off to airport in 2hrs and 15 mins to check in for our very long 9 hr flight!
Security at UK airports is so tight we have to check in 3-4 hrs beforehand!

if i dont meet any of you on the boat you will be sure to hear my 2 DD as they are very loud!! if you "hear us" do pop along and say hello!

Gonna be a big void in my daily agenda after this cruise and we all kind of drift off our own separate ways.

I want to again bring up the idea of a picture. Is anyone dead set against taking a picture at the meeting on Saturday? I suggested we take it in front of Lumieres. Any other ideas?

Just a thought...it might be hard getting a picture in front of Lumiere's, since they will still be boarding families.

Andy is almostly completely packed and I haven't even started. I'm trying to get motivated. Maybe this weekend. :goodvibes

I think that we can still get it done, but we can see once we get to the meeting. My only thought was that it makes a good background for the picture. I can always threaten any interlopers with either a lawsuit or threaten to throw one of Holly's law books at them. That would get the interlopers to back off. (And, presents yet another use for law books on a cruise ship).

I'm gonna make a raft out of them if we hit an iceberg....

Argggggggg.... pirate:

Courtney...

What's up with your neck? If you mentioned it on the boards, I try to catch up as much as possible when I get on...but sometimes miss. Anyway, KUDOS to you for going. My father was a chiropractor here in Peoria, IL. He was the first Chiro to actually get hospital privledges here. He has a wonderful story...but enough. Anyway, DO WHATEVER they tell you to do. They really want to see you walk out the door and not come back for a very long time because you feel good and are spinally healthy! Good luck!

UGH- we were driving S on I95 just north of Jacksonville back in June- there was a fenderbender in front of us...amazingly we didn't hit the car ahead of us (I was SURE) we were going to! However, just as I we'd come to a stop and DH and I were breathing a sigh of relief, he looked in the rearview mirror, OH CRAP! BOOM. hit from behind and into the car ahead of us like a honda sandwich.

The good news is we were all fine, DH did a couple visits to the chiropactor (or crapapracter as DD 4 calls him :) ) and was released. I am going still b/c when he did xrays my neck is straight. It's supposed to be curved. Oops. It isn't really bothering me, but he said it's one of those things that if you don't take care of it you'll be miserable down the road. What I love is, he also gave me a referral to a massage therapist b/c my muscles are so tight he can barely adjust me. That means though that I'm going to him 3x a week and her 2x a week, so all I do is try to cram in appointments during the 2.75 hours I have betw. preschool dropoff and preschool pick up time. It's a pain, but I'm sure it will be worth it to have my neck put back into place and my back muscles loosened up.

Can't wait for the massage on Castaway Cay- just wish I could figure out how to get the auto insurance to pay for that one!

Hey,
A couple pages ago (we really are getting to be a busy bunch!) someone asked about the movies on board. I was curious too so I called for the updated list:
POTC2, Cars, Chicken Little, 8 Below, Narnia, Shaggy Dog, Wild, Step Up, Stick It, and Invincible.

I'm very psyched about that list b/c we rarely get to see movies in theaters anymore and I really want to see Invincible, Step Up, and POTC2! If time permits, I haven't seen Cars, Wild, 8 Below, and I'm sort of ashamed to admit it, but I'd like to see Stick It too. I guess if anyone's looking for me, check the theater!

-Courtney

I must be the only mom at home in the middle of the day, I feel like that's the only time I get to post and no one else is around. :sad2:

Anyway, I have another idea for Holly's law books- We could stack them up for people to stand on to stagger the heights in our photo :) that way we don't have to worry about trying to get a pic at Lumieres while people are checking in.

I ironed the kids' names onto their pillowcases for the characters to sign today and printed off the online check in form. One more thing checked off my list.

OK, I posted this on another thread, but no one's replied so far- so I'll ask the group.

On the bahamas immigration forms, what do we put for how many nights we'll be in the bahamas and what dates? Do you put the entire 7 day cruise- our only real stop in the bahamas is Castaway Cay and obviously we aren't there overnight.

thanks!

Courtney

PS- Docs finally showed up yesterday- but as everyone said, it's anticlimatic. And, I really miss the charcater luggage tags! We had cute Tink ones last time, and now they look just like airplane check in tags. :sad2:

Time to sign off, thunder and lightning! Gee, must be afternoon in FL in the summertime...

One last call.

The DW and I are staying at SS a couple of nights before the cruise. Does anyone need a lift to the port? I plan to leave the WDW area about 0900 and have room in the van.

Chuck
