Sounds like you all had fun at the fest even with the crowds. No problem about the pics. I didnt realize haow big an event it was. I am workin the FD today kind of gray and foggy out there this morning. I am hoping that all burns off. I may go to the boat races tomorrow, try the new camera out on some action shots. We will have to see what the weather is like.
Have a good day.

This Gary Sinise you keep referring to.....that's the guy that was in Forrest Gump, right?
Didn't realize he was in a band! Learn something new every day!

Yep - same guy! It is Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band!

They started the show showing a clip from Forrest Gump on a large inflatable screen. Then they all came out and played. It is a large group. I think Gary plays bass. They had a keyboard player, guitarist, 2 people on drums, at least one person on a horn (maybe 2), a couple of back-up singers and 3 main singers (2 female and 1 male). A lot going on.

Cindy did bring up a good point. Gary made mention both at the start of the show and the end that they support the troops. That they are volunteers and that is doesn't matter who the president is that we should support the troops.

I hadn't heard of his band either but when I mentioned it at work someone told me he plays Chicago a couple of times a year usually in smaller clubs.

BTW . Cindy I hope they are able to get your mom fixed up and healed soon. Thoughts and prayers for her and your family.

Good morning Member Cruisers
- we sail in 7 weeks!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: I LOVE the number 7. I think I'll make it my favorite number this week. ;)

Cindy--I hope you get down to visit your mom and everything goes well.

Cindy and Mary--Glad you guys had a great visit.

Your concert experience kind of reminds me of my experience at the MK watching Spectro last Saturday night. Nothing but a bunch of low class rude people. You know me--I don't like to touch people, so I staked out my spot and left about a foot and a half between me and the people in front of me. Well apparently, I've lost more weight than I though because it was seriously like I wasn't even there. As soon as the parade started 4--yes 4 people stepped in front of me and stood in the 18 inch spot between me and the guy in front of me. Uh hello? Do you see that I'm standing here?? :furious: No after waiting 40 minutes to see the parade, I'm 5 people back! I wanted to so badly to fight them on it, but I was in my happy place, the music was playing and I didn't want the anger to take over. :sad2:

But---7 more weeks!!! We need to start packing!!!

Oh, Mary, my long haired dude. His straight blonde hair was down to about his mid-back and he'd shake to get it into his face and then swing it out of the way. I wanted to run up there with a pair of scissors or better yet, a pair of crew cut clippers and cut if all off. :sad2: I wonder if in his normal day to day he does that?? I commented to Mary that I don't know how he didn't get whip lash with all the neck flinging he was doing.

I bet you're not the only one.

I just received an email update from my sister about my Mom.

They did a scope yesterday to see if they could find anything in the stomach and found her entire esphogus is filled with ulcers. They are going to do a scan to see if there is a tumor in the stomach or pancreas to cause this as what is there is very much out of the ordinary. They are giving her mega doses of medicine for the ulcers and are going to try and get her to eat something small several times a day.

Maybe we'll have a chance to go over there this afternoon to see again first hand what's up.
Lots more pixiedust: for your mother. All those ulcers sound quite painful. I hope they figure out what's causing them and get her fixed up quickly.

Funny you should say that. Just last night I took out our suitcases and put them on the guestroom bed. My plan is to start putting things we don't want to forget in them as we come across them. So far I've got our magnetic sign for the back of our car and our fish extender in there.

I printed out/laminated the sign last night and it looks really good. Since I have the magnetic fill for my xyron, I used Legal sized paper and trimmed the edges. As for our fish extender, I just couldn't deal with all that Pepto Bismal pink, so I altered it a bit. Still lots of pink but not as annoyinging pink anymore.

I'm planning on getting our guest bed set up as the staging area next week. My big plan is, since it hasn't gone about 65 here in a week, instead of putting away the girls shorts and t-shirts for winter, I'm going to pack them!! :cheer2:

I need to buy some new ink cartridges before I think about magnets. :headache:

I'd love to see a pic of your altered fish extender!

I need an
easybutton.gif
button. You know, like the ones they show on the Staples commercials (if you have Staples in your area.) Mine would be for emptying the dishwasher and folding the laundry. There's got to be a better way to get those things done!

Mary & Cindy glad you had a good time even with people walking over you!

We had about 40 people over yesterday for a party for my nephew and his fiance'. John set up the tent in the back yard and we had tables set up there and on the patio. About 45 minutes before the party it got very windy and very cold so we decided to move the party inside. So the couch & chairs in the family room went against the wall, the sofa & coffee table were sent into the dining room and we set up 2-6' and 1-8' table in the family room. Everything worked out and I'm sure everyone was relieved to not have to sit outside. Good thing we moved indoors because about an hour later it started to rain and continued the rest of the evening. AHHHH, Michigan weather!

Cindy I hope the medication they are giving your mother starts to heal things. Hopefully she will begin to get some relief.

In honor of our ever approaching cruise, I added a little Magic, or should I say Wonder, my siggy. (Click on the Ship for even more!)

Mary and Cindy - glad you enjoyed the show. Sometimes, it doesn't matter how good or bad the band is as long your you're in good company! :thumbsup2

Robin - I guess we all knew you'd say this. :rotfl2: I thought I'd write you a little poem.

Seven is s good number but six will soon be the number she picks.
Then five will make her feel more alive
and four will lead to packing some more.
Three reminds us of DVC
and two means we've got a lot to do.
One means we are close to having some fun!

But once we hit one (week)
just look what we've done? :hourglass
We are back to seven (days) and better get revvin!
‘Cuz there's still more to do until we meet all of you! :grouphug:

Okay so I never said I was a poet but I tried. :lmao: Have a good day everyone. I'll be in chat after BB. Does anyone else read the spoiler thread?

We don't actually close our pool. The pool service ppl come out and do it. That way, if something bad happens over the winter we have someone to blame. :) Unlike Diana, we do not drain water out. They keep it full, but still blow out the lines somehow. Then they plug them off. They also stretch the mesh cover across it and anchor that down. We used to do the sand bag things (the first winter we lived here) but they never worked well on our pool. :(

We have pool service ppl, too, and they drain it less than a foot here. Just enough to blow out the lines. We have an automatic cover, so my pool is covered year round unless we are in it. That isn't as pretty, but it helps to keep the water warm. We don't have a heater. I wouldn't want to think of the energy bill if we were heating the water to my comfort zone! And it must really help with the critters getting in, because we have never to fish anything out :crazy2: . Our only pool critter is a 110 lb chocolate lab that thinks the pool is hers. :dogdance:

I am picturing the BK commercial with the pit crew handing the race car driver a chicken on a stick. How many KK will fit on a stick so you can hand them to us through the window on the way to the Port?:car:

Now that would be funny!!! :rotfl:

Cindy - pixiedust: Prayers and pixies dust for your mom. I hope you get a chance to see her today. Hopefully the doctors can get things figured out and help her to feel and be better.
