Magic band vs cards?

I have I have both tickets in my google wallet, can my daughter have just her ticket in her apple wallet too? If I tap mine at the gate, how do I know which ticket it took since apparently I don't have to open my wallet, just unlock the phone?

Edited to add: sorry to hijack, I thought I was in the general magic band thread!

No it does not work that way on Android devices. If you had an iPhone then you could use your MDE app and setup MagicMobile, and use the iMessage feature to share your daughter's ticket with her to add to her Apple Wallet.

Is she old enough to have her own MDE account?

yes, but could I just log into my account on her phone and add them to her wallet as well?

I have 6 magic bands going back to 2012. I plan to use a different one each day! My DD says I can just use my phone but what fun is that??

Yes that is a valid option for you. And as a benefit she will not need to unlock her iPhone to use her ticket in her Apple Wallet. You can also setup her Wallet to have her pass on top of the group stack on her iPhone if you decide to have your pass loaded on her iPhone as a backup.

Open the Wallet app. Tap the menu Icon (three dots) in the top right to turn the card over. Scroll down until you see a list of all the cards labeled “Cards in Group”. Tap the edit button immediately below and you’ll be able to drag and drop to reorder the cards.

Just note that if you are staying at a Disney resort, you may need to front desk to code to your room all Magicbands that you want to use as a room key. I bring a different Magicband for each day to coordinate with my outfits but I just pick one to use as my room key for the entire trip (usually the pre-arrival purchased Magicband since it will already be coded to your resort stay).

@pooch if you just tap each of the MBs to your room door, you will activate them for resort wide use.

If it can't open your room door then you may want to stop by the Front Desk to have that MB or bands added to your room .

Thanks, we are not staying on property nor getting ride photos so I will just use them to tap into the parks. And, yes, coordinating with my clothes each day!

OG poster circling back to share our experience. We ended up getting the cards from the hotel when we arrived for each person in our party. This was our first trip as a family without magic bands so I was worried how it would go. I did buy lanyards with card holders for my two kids to wear so I didn't have to worry about them losing their cards. I wore one as well just because it was easier---DH put his in his pocket (too cool for a lanyard I guess). It worked phenomenally well for park entry and lightening lanes.

We did miss being able to charge to our magic bands, but it really wasn't that big of a deal and we probably spent less this trip anyway on snacks and beverages. Our stay was at the Swan, which we had a great experience at. Magic Bands don't work there to open our room doors anyway.

if you are debating whether you need a magic band or not---we are officially converts. Sure they are convenient, but unless they are free again in the future our family won't be purchasing new ones. Thanks to those for sharing how to add the ticket to our phone wallets---our youngest doesn't have a phone yet so I felt like that would be complicated with our children's tickets, but that could be a viable option as the kids are getting older.
