Roxann - have you ever cruised at holiday time before. It is wonderful! We were on the 10 day cruise in 2004 and spent Christmas Day in St. Thomas. Awesome! You will have a great time!

Mary we have never cruised during the holidays. We are VERY excited. Our 20th Anniversary, Christmas and DCL what more could you ask for?

Amy - We FINALLY got a SPH room too! We have room 5022! That made my night! I have tried on the last 2 cruises for a SPH room! YIPPEE!

I'm posting in red to separate this important information from the fluff! Future t shirt info posts will be in red as well to help you guys out.

Good evening Member Cruisers!!

I am in the process of researching our different options as far as vendors go to produce our DIS t shirts. I hope to provide some more information for you this weekend, however in the meantime, if any of you have any experience with either Cafepress or Zazzle, I'd really like for you to post your feedback here. Right now, there doesn't seem to be too much difference between the two, but I plan on trying to come up with a Pro/Con list to help us better decide. Once a vendor is decided upon by the group, the voting for our shirt design will begin so get your creativity flowing folks!! Let the planning begin!

OK guys - post #16,000 and I can't think of any better group to share it with!

So how did I get here. 1997 my Mom dies after a 6 month battle with lung cancer. My in-laws were an amazing help and my Mom made me promise that I would treat them to something nice when she was gone. 1999 as a thank-you to my in-laws we book a land/sea vacation on the Magic (their idea). While waiting to get in to see Disney Dreams we meet a DVC member cruising on points. He tells us all about DVC. When we get home we call and order the package. In doing a net search for DVC I find the DIS! We bought into DVC in January 2000 and I formally joined the DIS in February 2000.

Over those years my two main homes on the DIS have been the DVC and DCL forums. Even then I think in my first 3 years here I don't think I had more than 3000 or so posts. We talked a bit about the 2003 Member Cruise - I think more on the DVC forum then here. Then we joined the December 2004 10 day cruise and around that time the cruise meets forums came about.

Here is the breakdown of our 4 most recent cruises (including this one)

Dec. 2004 Cruise thread 26,295 posts of which 2,812 were mine

2005 DVC Cruise thread 14,318 posts of which 1,759 were mine

May 2006 Cruise thread 28,398 posts of which 2,063 were mine (and still going)

2006 DVC Cruise thread 5,402 posts of which 729 were mine (and still going)

OK I'll admit it - I "talk" a lot.

What I can tell you is that I have met some wonderful friends from these threads. Friends I have laughed with, friends I have cried with. They've brought me up when I've felt down and I hope I have done the same with them.

Now that I'm a moderator I've also been trying to post more on the main cruise forum. Especially when I see a new cruiser with a question. The DIS and the DCL forums have been my home for the last 6 years and I hope it continues for many many more.

Would I like to take back some of those 16,000 posts? Sure! Some were plain silly, some were when I wasn't at my best, and some were just plain stupid. However I think and hope that most (including this one) said something about who I am or have been helpful to someone. That makes it all worthwhile!

And thank you for all the compliments about my "gorgeous" grandson! And Karen I love your idea about the Mouse ears - think I will bring them over and get a shot of him today with them on.

I've got another busy day and want to go over and ready dd's place for her homecoming tomorrow. I know Dakota (dd's golden retriever) will be happy to spend some time in her own home. And I have a blanket from the baby's bassinet for Dakota to become familiar with so she can get used to the new addition.

I hear what you are saying Cindy - just wanted to "antique" the picture so it would look more like it was airbrushed into the sand sculpture.

I like your concept of the "antique", but what may be throwing it off is the brightness of the letters. Maybe too much contrast, making the sand and ship look bland. Of course if you get the letters too light the whole design may just seem to fade away. Is there a color for the letters like a carribbean blue?

I am enjoying seeing all the different designs. I am leaning towards the ones that are made from peoples personal pictures. With all the pictures we all take does anyone else have ones on the ship or CC that may be worked into a design? I know the problem with most personal pictures is we have family members in them.

Another thought about the sand sculpture design. Wasn't there a Mickey to the left of the life perserver? Does anyone have a picture of the life perserver with Mickey sand sculpture? My thought was to use the whole picture with the "antique" ship in the middle. Leave the wording off the left side. Then the design would read: SS Member Cruise, Oct 22-26, 2006, with WONDERful DIS friends.

Hope this is clearer than mud.

I was going to save this for my big t shirt info post, but since it's come up now, I'll address it here, putting it in red because it's pretty important info.

There is a problem with using Mickey or any of the Disney characters in a design for the shirt due to copyright restrictions. Even if we create a design that looks similar to Mickey Mouse, we technically own the rights to the artwork or drawing, but we do not own the rights to utilize the likeness of Mickey Mouse or any of the gang. Therefore the use of Mickey for sale of merchandise infringes on the rights of Disney.

And to be the bearer of bad news, that means the design with the mouse ears on the beach chairs is out.

DUH, I completely forgot about the copyright issues. That is really going to limit the design.

Tshirts - I have 3 that I like so far:

Ship with Mickey and Minnie ears in the front (that's my fav)
Photo of the sand castle and the ship in the background
Mary's most recent design with the ship in the sand

I would love it if we could have the back design in an oval or something not square that possibly fades into the shirt
