Yes, Becky - we would love to have you hang out!

Sauce making was good - I didn't stay the whole time, had to go to work for a few hours. I posted a few pics on Facebook. My parents bought 8 crates of tomatoes, which in the end yielded 150 large mason jars of "sauce". It was so hot today, and I think my parents learned how to do it more efficiently for next year. My mother, sister, and I will split the jars, so about 50 jars each for the year. I make sauce usually once a week, less during the summer, so I'm set for the year. It was so funny to see my girls in aprons hovering over vats of tomatoes, they looked like little old Italian ladies.

I saw the pics you posted. Looked like everyone was working hard!

Here are a few shots of the sauce-making

My grandfather made this piece of equipment that takes the skin/seeds and seperates it from the meat of the tomatoes. He was the original Italian MacGuyver

Now thats Italian!

Those are great Andrea. It loks like fun but I am sure it is hard work. The girls are just beautiful.

Thanks, it definatley wasn't easy. They started at 8am and didn't finish until about 4pm. It's a long process because you have to wash each tomato to get the dirt off of it, twice, then cook all the tomatoes first to get them soft enough to run through the machine, jar them, and finally cook the jars in a 55 gallon drum.

I think opening a jar of Ragu may be easier, lol....

Is this where the cool peeps hang out? :cool2:
I knew nothing about this thread, but you posted about cool people, and the thread found me.

Yes, they are. If I could bring one to Indy with me and give it to you, I would, but I don't think they would approve of that in my carry-on, lol!!!

Thanks, I was thinking of you today and how you guys do the maple syrup as a family :grouphug:

That sounds good - my uncle gave me the recipe for limoncello a month or so ago, but, I don't know if I would be brave enough to try to make it. Now is the right time to start making it for Christmas gifts!

I'm thinking that I might need this recipe. I'm just saying. Hmm, if I got it now, it might be ready in time for the cruise.
