klineyqueen said:I don't really know what that is. But last Christmas I got a lot for one of my kids at school. I noticed around November that she was wearing the same thing every time I had her for class. Once I noticed that I would intentionally look for her every day. She always wore the same ole grubby outfit. It was horrible. It broke my heart. I went to the guidance councelor and told her that I wanted to give her a nice Christmas but didn't want her or any of the other kids to know it was me. My DH and I got her a winter coat, gloves, hat, bath and body works shower stuff and lotion, hair ribbons, shampoo, gap sweatshirt, jeans, shirts from Sears and K-mart. I also got her some jogging type pants. I told the lady at Sears what I was doing and she got her manager. He gave me a 40% discount on the total because of what I was doing. Then I got her arts and craft supplies. The police officer who runs our DARE program delivered it to the door on Christmas Eve. He also delivered a food basked with Turkey and all of the trimmings that was put together by my husbands Sunday School class. That way the only people who know what was going on were my family, the guidance councelor, and the cop. She was beaming when we got back from Christmas break. Her regular classroom teacher said she over heard her saying that Jesus must have given her an angel to bring so many things. The other teachers didn't know it was me...I did it for her...KWIM? I overheard her classroom teacher saying it in the lunch room. That will always be a special christmas to me.
I always donate stuff to the Bethany Children's Home...but that is going to a faceless person (I don't know them.) Last year was just different...if that makes any sense!
Sorry for the long post...I just got on a tangent...a feel good one.:
Brandi, when my mom was a kid her family was very poor and never got christmas gifts. My mom was a lot like this girl you mentioned. Always wearing the same clothes, etc. One christmas someone dressed as Santa delivered her family a food basket and gifts for my mom and her siblings, new clothes and a toy for each. My mom later found out it set up by one of her teachers who had noticed my mom's family had very little. To this day my mom talks about that Christmas and will never forget that someone cared enough to go through the trouble of making sure her family had a real Christmas miracle.
I know you realize you've really touched this girl but let me say that it has touched her much more than you probably even realize. God bless you!
