Oh can we talk about ease of wireless connection...oh please. I had to take my work laptop out today and finding a wireless connection - click htis add that...now if I had the iBook. Man - slick.
Yeah, when staying at a hotel with free in-room wireless... turn on the powerbook and it instantly finds the connection. No problem.

Then make a slide show to some cool music from itunes, turn around and make a movie with iMovie and burn it on iDVD.

Of course that is what got me in trouble with DD's K class and I haven't had time to make their end of year class DVD.

A friend of mine has always had Macs.......totally sold on them. She just took my SD memory card on Halloween night and had my pics on her laptop, IN a slide show with music in about 10 seconds flat! :confused3 It was magic! :rotfl:

So, wireless is easy-easy on a Mac? No problemo in hotels or the Disney Magic?

Whoa! This alone could sell me on a Mac. You just described our family at Christmas.....everyone has different types of cameras.

Did this after my sis-in-law's wedding, too... by brunch the next morning I had photo CDs ready to go home with people (yeah, I'm a geek).

You're kidding. You don't need to access a special site, etc.? :confused3

Never had a problem in any hotel. I expect the same on the Magic, but since this is my first cruise, I'll have to let you know on that.

It took my sister 10 years to switch me. Boy was I a doofus. Okay now here is the one warning I tell everyone if/when the switch. It's what my sister told me.

Apple does not hold back their products like other companies (announcements happen on Tuesday - for future referenced). So expect innovations a lot more frequently than other tech companies. The issue with this is you will purchase something and 6 months later they may come out wih something new. Will this mean your item is obselete or less. Nope it just means you will have serious envy at that new thing and WANT IT. Your product still will be wonderful and work wonderfully but you'll still want the new thing. If you can handle that - get a mac.

There was 640 acres for sale in Montana and we thought about getting a group of really nice people together and starting our own town. :thumbsup2 This DIS group would definately qualify! :grouphug:

This would be a great idea and I think it would be fun ....... except that it is in Montana!

.....the Mac platform changed from powerpc to intel and they can now be partitioned to run windows (you would still need a licence and once it's there you would still need to be super vigilent re viruses in that partition because it's now windows). I am running only PowerPC cpus at the moment however John I believe has used the partition that way so he can share.......

This is where you lose me. :confused3

A license?

Wouldn't anti-virus software scan for viruses?

Partitions?

:confused3 :confused3

I nver did make it to any of those store I was supposed to go to - no CVS, no Target, no Toys R US. In fact I read a little and then fell asleep.

My PowerBook is not even one year old. I knew the intel-based Macs were on the way, but I got mine anyway. Mine still does all of the amazing stuff. But of course I want all of the new toys, too. Actually, my old iBook (from June 2001) could still do a good job in many ways (internet, word processing... photos and the graphic design programs are a bit too much for it now).

:rotfl: :rotfl: I felt this way after my car purchase last year. Oooooooh, there's a new model I like better! :rotfl:

I figure all computers will be outdated about the second you walk out of the store anyway.

Windows makes you pay for everything. Windows XP is the operating system. Many products run on Mac OS X (pronounced Mac OS Ten) but there are some windows only products - for instance my dreaded Microsoft Project. When you buy software it says on the box what OS (operating system it runs on). Instead of confusing you - answer me this - what software programs do you run on your PC? Also take a look at Switch 101. Apple explains things way better than I could.

So......are all the new Mac laptops intel-based?
