Tell your mom to watch the games at the ESPN Club - it's a great place for playoff baseball as long as you get there early enough to get a seat.
That's the kind of spontaneous vacation planning I can really get behind!
The million dollar question: Was it worth it?![]()
I love juvenile...all Simpsons quotes are funny!!
Floorpie...thanks to you we've been saying that to each other all week!![]()
Here's one from tonight: "You know how I feel about giving!!!"
That episode remains one of my all time favorites. I love what Mr. Burns says to Marge at the end of the episode about his portrait..."Thank you for not making fun of my genetalia."

I will update tonight - the hubby has to work late so I can hog the computer to my fingers' content.
I'm waiting for the day that a total stranger sees my mom and calls her Grimace...she'll be so confused.![]()
Sunday, October 22nd - The Names Have Not Been Changed to Protect the Impatient, the Uncooperative, or the Purple.
This was not the answer I was looking for, so I told her that I wanted to know if I was pretty. Her response was, "You're cute...but sometimes you're just plain."
I have never forgotten that. Most mothers gush about how beautiful their children are - they don't think their kids are gorgeous, they know it. I can only speculate about how unpleasant the birthing process must have been back in 1969, because I apparently made a very bad first impression.![]()

Jay is an all-around super-nice guy...how he ended up married to me is one of life's greatest mysteries.![]()
I'd say it was about 9PM when we finally finished up at the Plaza - just enough time to get a decent viewing spot. It was a warm evening, a little humid but overall very pleasant; great weather for watching sparkly airborne explosions timed to emotionally manipulative music.
Can you imagine then, my hysterically amused chagrin when Grimace announced that she wanted to go back to the villa and watch the World Series?
How were we amused? Oh, let us count the ways...
1) Grimace doesn't like baseball. She's not a fan and doesn't follow the Cardinals or any other team at all during Grapefruit League play, the regular season, or the playoffs. This is a woman who took a book to the last baseball game she attended - 20 years ago.
2) Grimace is afraid to travel back to the Beach Club by herself. "How will I know which MK bus stop is the right one to get me back to the Beach Club?" Read the sign. "How will I know at which stop I should exit the bus?" Listen to the bus driver when he announces the upcoming stop. "What if a stranger sits next to me on the bus?" We're not really having this conversation, are we?
3) Jason and I are the baseball fans of the group, but after rearranging our vacation schedules during the last two years to accommodate playoff games (see 2004: Four-game Sweep by RedSox Results in Disaster at Sea and a Whole Lot of Cheap Kahlua; and, 2005: Cardinal Cruisers Cursed as Beloved Team Loses in Postseason - There Will be No Guavaberry Solace.) we opted for a more laid back approach. We were not going to change anything we had planned just to watch one of the games. We would see of the World Series what we were meant to see and that was that. So, you can imagine how Jason busted a gut to hear my mom talk about wanting to watch the game.
And that's why we found ourselves waiting for an Animal Kingdom bus at 8:05 AM with about 20 other people. We probably didn't wait more than 5 minutes for the bus to arrive, but it had already stopped at the Swolphin and at the Yacht Club. It was going to be a tight fit.
Once the doors were opened, Grimace bolted in front of the two families that had been waiting for the bus when we first showed up. I was mortified...this was bad vacation form indeed!
"Hey!" I called out rather sharply. "Those people were here before us; don't butt in front of them. It's not nice."
You gotta give Grimace credit - she just laughed and told one woman with a stroller, "That's my daughter, but we've switched roles and now she acts like the mom."
Here we are plunging towards disaster:

A few things I notice when looking at this: I appear to be wearing short-shorts even though I'm not. And while I'm having fun you will see that I am clinging to the safety bar with my patented "fun-is-fun-but-I'm-not-about-to-let-go" death grip. Although his arm is blocking part of his face, Jason has his best "Woo Hoo!" going on. And Jon looks like he is thinking to himself, "I'm getting too old for this crap."
I really like the guy sitting directly behind Jon - he appears to be having a great deal of frightening fun. The guy seated next to him looks like he's going to drop a load in his pants. I love these pictures!!![]()

Gotta stop for the night - need sleep. Thanks for reading - safari is next and there are a lot of pictures.![]()
Brenda,
I was laughing out loudabout the EE photo. I am too much of a chicken to go on that ride...DH is working on me though.
Also, your wedding photo is beautiful, your mother looks so proud of you.![]()
Definitely!I think my DH thought I was losing my mind at the time, but I got the "Good job, Mom!" accolades after we got there! We rode twice, and it was fantastic!
I really enjoyed your dream sequence. That was great. And the last episode was funny and very well written, too. I'm glad you all stuck together and didn't deprive yourselves of enjoying Wishes. The EE photo was a riot. I'm sure I'd be clutching the bar for dear life, too! I hate the feeling of falling. I endure Splash Mountain because I like the rest of the ride so much, and I even do Space Mountain because the drops aren't TOO bad, but I really prefer rides that don't involve falling. (Only did ToT once, and that was back in the days when they only dropped you once!)
Brenda - you look beautiful in your wedding photo and so does your mum![]()
Great everest photo![]()
Do we have to wait ages again now for the next part![]()
![]()
Never satisfied am I![]()
Great photo of you and your mom! Loved your dream sequence, too.
Now, that EE pic....AWESOME! The look on your face is the best--pure joy! It's too bad that Jay's face is blocked by his arm because I bet he has the same look. Jon looks like he is saying, "I'm getting to old for this, but damn it's fun!" He's got a death grip on the bar--as I would, too.
Can't wait to read the next installment.![]()
Brenda it's not just old Mr burns who worries about things all us men can be quite shy when it comes to our meat and two vegetables you know![]()

Bring her with you in October and I'll get the twins to ask her "hello Grimace can we have your autograph please?".....![]()
My mom said once that I was a cute little.......
Mutt!
I've never quite recovered! Although now I would probably be more like a St. Bernard. Come to think about it, they do get carry around a handy keg of liquid libation!
Fabulous as always, Brenda!
I love the wedding pic! What a loverly bride! And Grimace looks peachy, too!
BUT, the AK photo, now that's priceless. She really doesn't smile, eh??

Can't wait for the next installment! I've prepped my monitor and keyboard for projectile liquids.:
Which leads of course, to the classic response... "I thought I WAS."
That picture of you and your mom is just lovely. The two of you are glowing.
Anyway, you are such a great writer, all of your updates are treats!
Not such a mystery B!!! Jay is probably saying the same thing!!![]()
P.S..Loved the dream sequence. BTW what the heck do you eat before you go to bed at night girl?![]()
I seriously think she does these things to annoy you, as much as you pulled her into group photos to annoy her!
Ugh. That's the only thing I don't like about the Beach Club Villas...being on the tail end of the S/D/Y/Beach/Boardwalk route. But usually during peak park opening and closing times, the routes split up.
But I must give you another round of mad props for practicing good bus stop ettiquette! Many people still don't care about cutting others in line, and I'm glad when someone actually says something about it.![]()
Heheheh!your ride photos. They are still a goldmine of amusement! So you had short shorts issues. You're not alone. Glendamax posted about the same problem in her trip report! And yes, I saw Jay and totally heard the "woohoo!"
But the two in the back row are my choice for priceless moments captured by the magic of Disney.
![]()
I can't remember if I've posted on your report yet or not...![]()
All I have to say though is "Go, Banana!"![]()
Your report was great.
Oh dear, that's just awful!I'm sure you're nothing like a mutt or a St. Bernard, but if you happen to be carrying around some spare libations and you feeling like doling some out, purely for medicinal reasons of course, then I'm first in line!

Thanks for reading!
