10 Days in October: Argle-Bargle or Foofarah? UPDATED: POSTS #984 & 995!!!

Brenda,
I was laughing out loud :lmao: about the EE photo. I am too much of a chicken to go on that ride...DH is working on me though.
Also, your wedding photo is beautiful, your mother looks so proud of you.

Tell your mom to watch the games at the ESPN Club - it's a great place for playoff baseball as long as you get there early enough to get a seat.

That sounds like a good plan!

That's the kind of spontaneous vacation planning I can really get behind!

The million dollar question: Was it worth it? ;)

Definitely!:thumbsup2 I think my DH thought I was losing my mind at the time, but I got the "Good job, Mom!" accolades after we got there! We rode twice, and it was fantastic!

I really enjoyed your dream sequence. That was great. :goodvibes And the last episode was funny and very well written, too. I'm glad you all stuck together and didn't deprive yourselves of enjoying Wishes. The EE photo was a riot. I'm sure I'd be clutching the bar for dear life, too! I hate the feeling of falling. I endure Splash Mountain because I like the rest of the ride so much, and I even do Space Mountain because the drops aren't TOO bad, but I really prefer rides that don't involve falling. (Only did ToT once, and that was back in the days when they only dropped you once!)

Brenda - you look beautiful in your wedding photo and so does your mum:goodvibes

Great everest photo:banana:

Do we have to wait ages again now for the next part:confused3 :sad1:

Never satisfied am I:lmao:

Great photo of you and your mom! Loved your dream sequence, too.

Now, that EE pic....AWESOME! The look on your face is the best--pure joy! It's too bad that Jay's face is blocked by his arm because I bet he has the same look. Jon looks like he is saying, "I'm getting to old for this, but damn it's fun!" He's got a death grip on the bar--as I would, too.

Can't wait to read the next installment.:thumbsup2

I love juvenile...all Simpsons quotes are funny!!

Floorpie...thanks to you we've been saying that to each other all week! :lmao:

Here's one from tonight: "You know how I feel about giving!!!"

:rotfl2: That episode remains one of my all time favorites. I love what Mr. Burns says to Marge at the end of the episode about his portrait..."Thank you for not making fun of my genetalia." :rotfl:

Brenda it's not just old Mr burns who worries about things all us men can be quite shy when it comes to our meat and two vegetables you know:rolleyes1

Regards

Mr wellhungman a.k.a itelllies:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I will update tonight - the hubby has to work late so I can hog the computer to my fingers' content.

I'm waiting for the day that a total stranger sees my mom and calls her Grimace...she'll be so confused. :lmao:

Bring her with you in October and I'll get the twins to ask her "hello Grimace can we have your autograph please?".....:rotfl2:

Sunday, October 22nd - The Names Have Not Been Changed to Protect the Impatient, the Uncooperative, or the Purple.

This was not the answer I was looking for, so I told her that I wanted to know if I was pretty. Her response was, "You're cute...but sometimes you're just plain."

I have never forgotten that. Most mothers gush about how beautiful their children are - they don't think their kids are gorgeous, they know it. I can only speculate about how unpleasant the birthing process must have been back in 1969, because I apparently made a very bad first impression.

My mom said once that I was a cute little.......

Mutt!

I've never quite recovered! Although now I would probably be more like a St. Bernard. Come to think about it, they do get carry around a handy keg of liquid libation!

:rotfl2: Fabulous as always, Brenda!

I love the wedding pic! What a loverly bride! :cloud9: And Grimace looks peachy, too! :goodvibes BUT, the AK photo, now that's priceless. She really doesn't smile, eh?? :lmao:

Can't wait for the next installment! I've prepped my monitor and keyboard for projectile liquids. :thumbsup2:

:rotfl2: That episode remains one of my all time favorites. I love what Mr. Burns says to Marge at the end of the episode about his portrait..."Thank you for not making fun of my genetalia." :rotfl:

Which leads of course, to the classic response... "I thought I WAS."

That picture of you and your mom is just lovely. The two of you are glowing.

And EE was the favorite ride of everyone on our trip. It was the only coaster my thrill-averse mother rode, and she loved it. My younger brothers ages 17-22 also all loved it, and they are definitely not thrill averse!

Anyway, you are such a great writer, all of your updates are treats!

Jay is an all-around super-nice guy...how he ended up married to me is one of life's greatest mysteries. ;)

Not such a mystery B!!! Jay is probably saying the same thing!!

P.S..Loved the dream sequence. BTW what the heck do you eat before you go to bed at night girl? :goodvibes

And now it's time for Reason #1347 why Brenda should qualify for sainthood, or at least win an award for Daughter of the Year:

I'd say it was about 9PM when we finally finished up at the Plaza - just enough time to get a decent viewing spot. It was a warm evening, a little humid but overall very pleasant; great weather for watching sparkly airborne explosions timed to emotionally manipulative music.

Can you imagine then, my hysterically amused chagrin when Grimace announced that she wanted to go back to the villa and watch the World Series?

How were we amused? Oh, let us count the ways...

1) Grimace doesn't like baseball. She's not a fan and doesn't follow the Cardinals or any other team at all during Grapefruit League play, the regular season, or the playoffs. This is a woman who took a book to the last baseball game she attended - 20 years ago.

2) Grimace is afraid to travel back to the Beach Club by herself. "How will I know which MK bus stop is the right one to get me back to the Beach Club?" Read the sign. "How will I know at which stop I should exit the bus?" Listen to the bus driver when he announces the upcoming stop. "What if a stranger sits next to me on the bus?" We're not really having this conversation, are we?

3) Jason and I are the baseball fans of the group, but after rearranging our vacation schedules during the last two years to accommodate playoff games (see 2004: Four-game Sweep by RedSox Results in Disaster at Sea and a Whole Lot of Cheap Kahlua; and, 2005: Cardinal Cruisers Cursed as Beloved Team Loses in Postseason - There Will be No Guavaberry Solace.) we opted for a more laid back approach. We were not going to change anything we had planned just to watch one of the games. We would see of the World Series what we were meant to see and that was that. So, you can imagine how Jason busted a gut to hear my mom talk about wanting to watch the game.

I seriously think she does these things to annoy you, as much as you pulled her into group photos to annoy her!

And that's why we found ourselves waiting for an Animal Kingdom bus at 8:05 AM with about 20 other people. We probably didn't wait more than 5 minutes for the bus to arrive, but it had already stopped at the Swolphin and at the Yacht Club. It was going to be a tight fit.

Once the doors were opened, Grimace bolted in front of the two families that had been waiting for the bus when we first showed up. I was mortified...this was bad vacation form indeed!

"Hey!" I called out rather sharply. "Those people were here before us; don't butt in front of them. It's not nice."

You gotta give Grimace credit - she just laughed and told one woman with a stroller, "That's my daughter, but we've switched roles and now she acts like the mom."

Ugh. That's the only thing I don't like about the Beach Club Villas...being on the tail end of the S/D/Y/Beach/Boardwalk route. But usually during peak park opening and closing times, the routes split up.

But I must give you another round of mad props for practicing good bus stop ettiquette! Many people still don't care about cutting others in line, and I'm glad when someone actually says something about it. :thumbsup2

Here we are plunging towards disaster:
1690.jpg

A few things I notice when looking at this: I appear to be wearing short-shorts even though I'm not. And while I'm having fun you will see that I am clinging to the safety bar with my patented "fun-is-fun-but-I'm-not-about-to-let-go" death grip. Although his arm is blocking part of his face, Jason has his best "Woo Hoo!" going on. And Jon looks like he is thinking to himself, "I'm getting too old for this crap."

I really like the guy sitting directly behind Jon - he appears to be having a great deal of frightening fun. The guy seated next to him looks like he's going to drop a load in his pants. I love these pictures!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Gotta stop for the night - need sleep. Thanks for reading - safari is next and there are a lot of pictures. :thumbsup2

Heheheh! your ride photos. They are still a goldmine of amusement! So you had short shorts issues. You're not alone. Glendamax posted about the same problem in her trip report! And yes, I saw Jay and totally heard the "woohoo!" :woohoo: But the two in the back row are my choice for priceless moments captured by the magic of Disney. :wizard:

Gah, what am I doing up so late?

Brenda,
I was laughing out loud :lmao: about the EE photo. I am too much of a chicken to go on that ride...DH is working on me though.
Also, your wedding photo is beautiful, your mother looks so proud of you.

Glad you liked the EE picture - I just can't say "no" to buying them when they look that funny. And it really does look worse than it is - there are a couple of "fake-outs" that are great. But...it's very fast and there are a couple of other things that happen that I don't want to post here (don't want to 'spoil' anyone who hasn't ridden yet).

Thanks for the kind words on the wedding pic - Grimace looks great, doesn't she?

Definitely!:thumbsup2 I think my DH thought I was losing my mind at the time, but I got the "Good job, Mom!" accolades after we got there! We rode twice, and it was fantastic!

That's really all that matters, then, isn't it?

I really enjoyed your dream sequence. That was great. :goodvibes And the last episode was funny and very well written, too. I'm glad you all stuck together and didn't deprive yourselves of enjoying Wishes. The EE photo was a riot. I'm sure I'd be clutching the bar for dear life, too! I hate the feeling of falling. Thanks Kay - it means a lot when you tell me an installment is well-written, considering how well-done your own TR is! :thumbsup2

Splash Mountain is one of the all-time great fake-outs, isn't it? I mean the drop at the end is a bit jarring but there are two other spots during the ride where I always think we're going to take a plunge and then we don't. And the theming on that ride is one of my favorites. Jay and I always end up singing Zipadeedooda for the rest of the day after riding it.

BTW - thanks for the compliment in your edit...I don't feel nearly as plain as I did before I started on this TR! ;)

Brenda - you look beautiful in your wedding photo and so does your mum:goodvibes

Great everest photo:banana:

Do we have to wait ages again now for the next part:confused3 :sad1:

Never satisfied am I:lmao:

Thanks Karen! As for waiting, it will be at least Monday just because we've got people coming over tomorrow and I have to clean and cook tonight. I'm taking a quick break before returning to hard labor. ;)

Great photo of you and your mom! Loved your dream sequence, too.

Hi Paige! Thank you very much for the kind words. :flower3: You know, I didn't notice Jon's death grip, but you are absolutely right...he's having fun and worrying about a heart attack at the same time! ;)

I can't remember if I've posted on your report yet or not... :confused3

All I have to say though is "Go, Banana!"

Brenda it's not just old Mr burns who worries about things all us men can be quite shy when it comes to our meat and two vegetables you know:rolleyes1

AFEG, I mean Mr. Well.... you always keep things interesting, don't you? :lmao:

There is no way in hell that I'm taking Grimace back to WDW this fall. :rotfl:

My mom said once that I was a cute little.......

Mutt!

I've never quite recovered! Although now I would probably be more like a St. Bernard. Come to think about it, they do get carry around a handy keg of liquid libation!

Oh dear, that's just awful! I'm sure you're nothing like a mutt or a St. Bernard, but if you happen to be carrying around some spare libations and you feeling like doling some out, purely for medicinal reasons of course, then I'm first in line! ;)

Thanks for reading!

:rotfl2: Fabulous as always, Brenda!

I love the wedding pic! What a loverly bride! :cloud9: And Grimace looks peachy, too! :goodvibes BUT, the AK photo, now that's priceless. She really doesn't smile, eh?? :lmao:

Tracy you have just paid me one of the highest DIS-compliments possible...if I made you spray the screen then I must be doing something right! :lmao:

Thanks for the kind words on the wedding photo. But it's true...in the 8 years since then I think we've captured her smiling maybe three other times.

Which leads of course, to the classic response... "I thought I WAS."

:lmao: :lmao: That really is the best line, isn't it? And please, feel free to quote the Simpsons as much or as little as you want. Jason is lurking around here, too, and if he sees something he really likes he'll post back and then things will really be fun!

That picture of you and your mom is just lovely. The two of you are glowing.

Anyway, you are such a great writer, all of your updates are treats!

Thank you so much for both of those compliments. :flower3:

Not such a mystery B!!! Jay is probably saying the same thing!!

P.S..Loved the dream sequence. BTW what the heck do you eat before you go to bed at night girl? :goodvibes

Nancy!! Glad to see you! Jay actually only married me because he thought I was wealthy. After the deed was done he realized that he'd overlooked the negative sign in front of my net worth. :lmao:

As for the dream sequence...I just have a very vivid, and sometimes very freaky, imagination. It's a gift. ;)

I seriously think she does these things to annoy you, as much as you pulled her into group photos to annoy her!

I think you are absolutely right.

I agree - the bus situation at BCV leaves a bit to be desired because of the resort sharing. I was a little surprised that morning at how many people they were just packing into the bus - it actually stopped at BWV after picking us up. Crazy!

Heheheh! your ride photos. :wizard:

I just can't pass these up when there are so many other people who are doing such great things when the camera pops. Disney makes a fortune on us with these pictures! Yep, those two guys in the back totally make that EE photo. :thumbsup2

I can't remember if I've posted on your report yet or not... :confused3

All I have to say though is "Go, Banana!"

Tiggerbell, you post as much as you want! I'm glad to have you along and I will do what I can to keep that banana dancing.

Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Your report was great.

Thanks so much for reading so far! :goodvibes

Oh dear, that's just awful! I'm sure you're nothing like a mutt or a St. Bernard, but if you happen to be carrying around some spare libations and you feeling like doling some out, purely for medicinal reasons of course, then I'm first in line! ;)

Whooops! I gave you the wrong impression. My mom thought she was giving me a COMPLIMENT. :lmao:

I was about 7 and according to her scampering about in a cute manner similar to a small puppy. So she said I was a cute little mutt! I have informed her that I do NOT scamper:rolleyes: and that she has scarred me for life. This bit of blackmail er information comes in very handy when I am extorting her I mean begging for spare cash:rotfl2: . Mother guilt is oh so useful!:thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

love the updates!
your wedding picture with your mom is adorable!
i laughed out loud at your caption of john on EE " i'm getting to old for this crap!" hahahah :rotfl:
and as for the short shorts.hahahha..if you wear short shorts..if you dare wear short shorts..well thanks for getting that song in my head!!:rolleyes1 lol
