New Journeys January WISH 2026

I am happy to announce that I lost 3 pounds this week…no doubt all water weight. I returned to relatively normal eating, but not really dieting. It was a crazy week dealing with my violent student and another meeting (case study) that led us nowhere near a solution. I had a major hot flash which I haven’t had in quite a while. My cortisol must be super high. Then DD coming home from the UK and the serious health emergency that ensued really took me over the top.

I went to school yesterday even though I was exhausted to prepare my classroom for a sub in case I catch the flu from her. I was trying to sleep in today, but my patient was requesting scrambled eggs and toast with raspberry preserves at 7:00 AM. I was not ready to get out of bed but I did. She has been fed and medicated, laundry has been started, and the dishwasher is running. I am going to take an hour to relax and then run out to take care of my emissions. Later I have to pay bills. Ugh. It never ends.

Anyway, I’m happy to somehow be down 3 pounds and will try to eat a lot healthier this week. I don’t feel comfortable in my body right now.

I’m very excited for today. I have my art class that I booked for my week off in December but had to be rescheduled because of a flu outbreak at the art studio. Today is my make-up class. I will be making a Christmas tree out of sea glass!

My other creative outlet for today is decorating snowflake cookies to bring to my new book club on Friday. Hopefully I can avoid catching DD’s flu so that I can go.

So on the nights I work at the Boys and Girls Club, I eat my dinner in school at lunchtime and then have cereal or something else very light for dinner at home. I have been taking leftovers that were not particularly healthy or portion controlled. This week I am bringing Lean Cuisines. Today is my first day, and I’m hoping that this will help me to lose weight.

We shall see…

Back to the dinner list now that the holidays are over, hoping this helps with eating real food most nights of the week.
Also blocked gym time for the next 2/3 weeks at work. Hopefully people will respect my calendar most days. The fact the next season of shrinking is coming out will help this effort since I just finished Severance and that was my bike show

I like this graphic because it encourages us to structure our schedules in a way that takes into consideration what our natural rhythms are and also what other demands will be placed on us at any given time. It can be soooo much easier to stick to a particular goal/plan/routine at one time of the day (or week) than at others.

Yes. I used to try and work out after the kids went to bed and for a short time early in the morning. Neither of these worked. I am not an early riser at all and once I have sat down I am done for the day. I switched to walking on the treadmill (or outside) on my lunch. If I walk outside then I will get on the treadmill after work to get a good 60 minutes in. If I workout after work, then I have to do it right after I get off. Again if I sit down I don't get back up. When I lost 10 pounds in 2021, I switched to working out at lunch. It worked great.

I realized a while ago that my natural time to do errands is early afternoon. I'm much more likely to get home things done in the morning than if I run errands then and leave the miscellaneous stuff for afternoons.

Woohoo and thank goodness it is Wednesday, because that means just one more full day here.

And woohoo the go live has gone better than expected. In my area we’ve had one major issue that happened for a couple different reasons. We’re clear of that now and today they should be able to receive a lot of trucks.

It’s been 12 hour days out on the floor standing and walking and woohoo I’ve been able to handle it just fine, although this morning I do feel a bit like I’ve been hit by a truck. Hopefully a good shower will help with that.

WOO HOO! I have lost two more pounds so far this week with a couple more days to go.

The Lean Cuisines are helping because they are calorie and portion controlled. I haven’t eaten them in years, and it was a nice surprise to taste them and see how much the flavor has improved.

So thankful that today is Thursday, my last full day as I'll be heading to the airport midday tomorrow. I do have to head back down Sunday afternoon, but thankful to at least have a full day at home and thankful that it is such a short easy flight.

I am thankful that I have the opportunity to work from home and both of the kids schools changed things up (DD's closed for the day and DS went fully online for the day). We have been getting hammered with snow since about 2 or so yesterday. It really has not let up at all. The snow is up to about lower to mid calf. We have another several hours to go as well. Going by what has been reported in cities close to me we have about 6-7 inches of snow. After this round we are supposed to get snow every day for the week too.
