1,353 MILES! "Get Your Motor Runnin'" or "Leaving on a Jet Plane"?

Should Shocker attempt to devour the 48 ounce steak at Shula's?

  • No, he might get sick and ruin the rest of the vacation for Wigd.

  • Yes, he has the right to take this challenge.

I have only eaten at the California Grill...but it was an amazing dinner!! I enjoyed every minute of it and I loved being able to watch Wishes from there!! The service was magnificent and the food to die for...so I guess I'm voting for that one LOL!

Bistro de Paris

Never been there. Would loooove to!

Narcoosee's

Narcoosee's is a beautiful restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner there, with less than stellar service. (not bad perse, just not very attentive) If you like lobster, the whole Maine lobster is incredible!! It's probably quieter if that matters to you.

California Grill

Of course, Cali Grill is my all-time favorite Disney restaurant. Incredible views!!! We had amazing food and great service! Great wine list too. If you like chocolate, the vahlrona chocolate cake is to die for!

I don't know which I would choose. Tough one!

Congrats on making the final plans. What a good compromise. And 2 extra nights!! Bonus!!
I think I am going to vote NO on the steak-sorry.
As for the  dinner I am going to say Cali Grill for the food and view!!

She's a very special girl. Wherever she wants to go, you guys will have an incredible time. Can't wait to hear all about it!

Tough choice! I've heard outstanding things about all three. The only one I've actually eaten at is California Grill and it was amazing! Of course for Narcoosee's or CG you can time with Wishes. That would be cool. For Bistro maybe you could plan a late ADR for just before park close (maybe even have a window seat for Illuminations) and then exit into a nearly empty World Showcase - you could take the long way around and then exit through the International Gateway. :cloud9:

Really tough choice. I don't know. You can't go wrong. Maybe it comes down to which menu appeals to you more?

Can't wait to find out what you choose!

I have a preference as where NOT to go, but it will be Wigd's decision!

Of the 3 choices for your romantic dinner I would pick either Cali Grill or Narcoosee's. My DH & I are going the first week of May for our 25th anniv. trip & we are going to Narcoosee's for the lobster!! There was not much on the Cali menu for me. (I tend to be a bit fussy):rolleyes1. I cannot wait to try Narcoosee's.

Thanks for your input! I'm sure Wigd will be reading all the feedback.

I tried to talk her into going back to Citrico's, but no dice!

If it's a romantic dinner then the "view" will be ME! :rotfl2:

As I type, her head is growing.....:rotfl:

Well, I guess I would go for either Cali Grill or The Bistro.. have you guys been to Cali Grill ever? Were you considering it for the summer? I would say that would be my first choice... We are doing both in July, but only The Bistro will be new, and the boys will be at the sand dollar club or whatever it is called :rotfl: I think the menu is fab at Cali Grill....

We do have the Cali Grill scheduled for the summer and we are very excited about having dinner there for Wishes!

I am going to cast my vote for Cali Grill!

Thanks for the input!

Another vote for Cali Grill!

Well, I should enjoy your PTR and TR because it looks like NO spring break for us. We are on day 3 of snow days with more snow coming Friday. This is why I don't make big plans for spring break. We have had fun in the snow though :)

Ugh, you lose your spring break to make up for snow days??? :scared1: That's horrible! :sad2:

When I taught in NYC, we didn't have to make up snow days (we had one in 5 years, schools in NYC are open even in blizzards!). Here in TX, state law says that as long as we build 2 "bad weather" days into the calendar, we don't have to make up anything more than that. So, we never have to worry about losing a vacation, or being in school beyond the last day on the school calendar.

Ugh~

no Spring Break?? When I was a senior in high school in South Carolina (in, uh, 19 *cough* *cough* 8), we missed 4 snow days and ended up with a Spring Day(!) instead of a Spring Break week.

Here in Tennessee we have 5 extra days built into our schedule that don't have to be made up. If we miss more than 5, we have to make them up.

I'd vote for the Cali Grill as well----Love that pork tenderloin! YUM!!!

Another vote for Cali!

I'm in for the PTR and the TR
I vote for Cali and put me on the POP fan list!

Our district builds in days and designates days at the end of the year so we know when we should and should NOT schedule our vacation!

Our state legislature routinely "excuses" days missed by the districts who get the brunt of the storms.

If you do not miss any school, do you get out 5 days early?

I can speak for our TN system - NO, we do not get out early if we do not use them. That's why we get so excited about actually getting them!

About 7 years ago... from pressure from parents... our legislature passed a law called "Save our Summer." Now it sounded great to parents, but they have no clue about how this works. Basically, we cannot start school any earlier than August 25 and we cannot legally be in school any later than June 10. We don't typically miss a ton of school for snow, but this year we had one day before Christmas and then last Monday for flooding and now we have missed this week so far. They are calling for a major ice storm this coming weekend, so we'll see how that plays out. But basically we don't have enough days built in to cushion the blow. We can't stay later than June 10 and the only other makeup days we have are Spring Break and May 4. They are using 2/15 to make up the day we missed from the floods. So unless they let us go to school on Saturdays, we will not have Spring Break. It stinks, but it is what it is. We don't usually make SB plans just in case this ever happens. But I have heard many teachers saying they have subs lined up already.

I used to work in a district that had board members who made sure the teachers worked the listed number of contract days. One year we had three days of meetings after the kids were out for the summer. This was illegal as the days we missed were attendance days and should have been made up as such. We also did such creative things as add minutes to the remaining school days and went to school on Saturday more than once. We even had our Spring Break cut short by ONE day as we came in on Friday! Hooray for power hungry school board members.....:confused3

Hmmn. Tough call. I"m trying to decide between two of those for our own date night! I'll cast my vote with the masses though...Cali.
