A few weeks ago DVC called to say they reached us on the waiting list! We had given up all hope. Last Nov. when the booking opened we were down in WDW & I called on my cell phone, got through & before getting confirmation my battery died. FRUSTRATION. Called back later & was given number 2188412 on the waiting list. I asked the DVC rep if this meant that we had over 2,000,000 people ahead of us. She assured me there were no more than a million ahead of us. LOL
At any rate I'm Chris from Queens, NYC & will be traveling with my wife Janet & her best friend Lynn from the Bronx. We are all in our (very) late 50's and love Disney. We have a 3 night stay prior to sailing at BCV.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Chris

:welcome: and cogratulations on getting off the waiting list. Can't wait to get to know you. And, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. This is a helpful bunch.

Welcome Chris!

I joined this happy group not long ago and already feel like a vet! I'm just a little below you in South Jersey, not far from Philly.

We are also staying 3 nights prior to sailing, but we are at SSR. Hope we get to say hello soon!

Sue :flower3:

Sue - Where in Jersey are you?

Well, DS and I survived scout camp in the rain. We averaged about 5 1/2 miles of walking each day with all the activities. Ugh. I am tired and achey.

Had a great time on the archery range. Participants get special skull beads for hitting the bulls eye. After two days of shooting I came home with 13 skull beads. Fun stuff.

You were all very busy chatting while I was gone. It took me two days to catch up on all the posts.

Mary - Glad to here things are going well for your treatments this week.

Flo - So sorry to hear about all the rain but hopefully it all dried out with the hot weather.

Sue - My guess is your camp weather was pretty much like ours since we were probably in the same general area. Sounds like a wonderful experience with the kids. :cloud9:

As for the ADRs I needed to book for after the cruise, I did not have a chance to call while at camp but I just called today. Was not able to get everything I wanted but I did learn today that ADRs can now be booked online. Not sure if that was mentioned by anyone in this group previously. I booked some over the phone but then went online and tried that out also. Boy is it great. No more sitting on the phone and waiting for the phone lines to open. No more busy signals. And the best part, it gives you a number of alternate options to select from.

Well, gotta go for now. Not sure if I will be back online later since I have lots and lots of laundry to do from camp.

Have a nice evening and weekend!!

MEAGON2222 congrats on the :bride:

Marsha a congrats on the pirate:

Welcome & congratulations on getting through the waitlist!:banana:

Friday night and we are babysitting our 2 grandsons, ages 3 and 2. One from Ohio, one local. AND....the nursing supervisor called me from work..."I would appreciate it if you came in for overtime or comp time or whatever and deal with this wound vac." Yea, right, I am in my jammies...instructed them what to do until tomorrow and then I will drag my sorry self on in to deal with the problem...oh to be loved and adored and needed...LOL

I did some of my ADR's on the internet also...loved it, very easy. I think the problem is that we DVC members cannot book the 90+10 days out because there is a gliche in the system. But I did get the ones at 90 days.

We have vacation planned for Nov 28 to Dec 5...but there are no inexpensive fares...in fact, they are outrageous. So, I checked on the second week of Dec 12-18 and there is availability for 2 bedroom villas...and the airfare is only $64 one way out of Harrisburg to Orlando...and since I am taking two of my grandchildren and my daughter, and DH and I, I need to find a cheap rate! I also don't want to miss out on DH's free military pass to WDW. So, I think I will change my dates.

I used to love camp. I was a girl scout leader for many years and always took the girls camping. Then I was the paid RN for some day camps and overnight weekend camps when my girls were young. I loved it. There is something about sleeping outside in the woods...I could never do it now with my new knees. Besides DH hates camping. He says 32 years in the military he had all the camping he ever needs!!

Do you guys wear pirate stuff on pirate night? I wore my pirate ears, but I am so warm all the time and SWEAT like crazy. I bought all of this fabric to make DH and I costumes....maybe I will try it if any of you wear pirate gear.
I love to laugh and have fun...he gets embarrassed sometimes when I get rowdy and laugh too much. Everything strikes me funny!

Have a good Friday night!!!

I love camp too. And my next six weeks will be as aquatics director at a girl scout camp for day camp. It's a small world - after all - hmmm - sounds like a song i know. hehehe

Welcome! Our group of four are in our 50's 60's and 70's! It will be great to meet you.

Yep, we must be related! We live at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon on the mountain, overlooking the whole valley. We are at about 6500 South and 3500 East above Wasatch Blvd. if you are familiar with the area!

Where is Tequesta? How far from the mouse house are you?

I grew up in the Murray area and still have family both in the Avenues and in Park City. My mother (who will be joining us on the cruise) is out there now for my niece's wedding. The reception is this evening. My mom arrived last Saturday and was "freezing cold" due to 66 temp! She says the weather has been better as the week progressed.

Tequesta is about 150 miles south of the mouse, on the east coast, just above West Palm Beach. It is a beautiful coastal area. I love the ocean and am very lucky to live in this area. But where you live is BEAUTIFUL. Love the view from that area. Skiing is great too! (I learned at Brighton).

Fed Ex just delivered it here to my office. It came in a box 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Guess they wanted to make sure it didn't break during shipping!

Don't think I'll be adding more points this year so.

Wow, this sounds impressive, can you post a picture of it?

How do you get the countdown things and other banners for your signatures?

Just click on a countdown and it'll take you to where they are made, same cut and paste you did to get the logo. :) The banners are just images, like the logo is already, You just need a photo hosting to upload them to.

That sounds like great fun! My DD's and I still sing some of the camp songs from girl scouts.

You'll laugh at this. To be able to take my troop camping, I had to go to camp director training...it was primitive camping and I KNEW that there was not going to be much food...so I took two peanut butter sandwiches with me. Late at night when I thought everyone was asleep and it was very dark, I got out a sandwich and was quietly trying to eat it...someone said, "I smell peanut butter" and then everyone was saying it...I hid my sandwich and didn't say a word! Gees, you would think they would have known how little food they were going to give us. Bacon and eggs in a paper bag didn't cut it for us!

Don't you just meet nice folks here? And we all have something in common!

okay, thanks. Now I got how to get what images I want - now how do I place them where I want them on the signature?

By primitive you mean Motel 6 rather than a Disney resort.

Good Morning all.

Welcome Chris, I am so glad you are able to join us,I am sure you will find this group a fun one. We are also in our 50's ..Are you sure this is not a 50's cruise:rotfl::rotfl:We are arriving on the 12 and staying at BCV before the cruise. please tell Janet and Lynn welcome for us. Glad to have you aboard

Good morning all.

It's good to see so many new cruisers join the thread.

One question, when you make ADR's do you do it through DVC or through the dining phone number? I always do them through DVC and have no problems, not long wait times, and usually get what I want and am off the phone within 10-15 minutes. I just hear of folks having a hard time, long hold times and then not getting where they want when they call the WDW Dine number. So I just wondered what everyone uses.

Good morning everyone - happy Saturday!

okay, thanks. Now I got how to get what images I want - now how do I place them where I want them on the signature?

Sue - you place them in your signature the same way you did the SSSMC09 logo. Go to UserCP up at the top and then pick edit signature. Use the image button and then paste in the location of what picture/ticker/etc. you want to use. Hope this helps.

:goodvibes Good morning everyone! It is a beautiful day here, sunny and clear.

Glad you are home Sue, our cats miss us too when we are on vacation.

We are off to the AKL tomorrow morning. We have never stayed at this resort and are excited to have a room in the concierge area. We are doing the Wanyama Safari on Monday evening. Has anyone done this before and did you like it?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Have fun at AKL. When we stayed there they did not have the Wanyama Safari. You will have to let us know how it is.

take care
