09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 2!

Wow, cruising in eleven weeks! It looks like many of you have been very chatty ! I don't even know who is winning the & race!

I know I have been MIA from the DIS for a while. I hope everyone has been doing well since my last post (although I can't even remember when that was)!

When we went on DCL in October '08 I was wheelchair bound and wasn't able to do a lot of things but just being on The Wonder made me happy! Now, 8 months later I've graduated to using a cane. DH considered cancelling SSMC09 because of my health but I reminded him where we were going and he decided I was right. I am determined to get through this.

Party Bus: There were approximately 25 people who wanted to do the party bus but unfortunately that number is too low to charter a bus. My thought (while not as fun as a party bus) is perhaps each resort or area organizes transportation to/from your area or resort and the port. This should still be less expensive than than using Disney's transportation.

Any way, I hope to be here more often and get to know many of you again! Annmarie

Annmarie - nice to see you posting here again and happy to hear you are still coming on the cruise. I'll update the info on the first post about the party bus. Sorry to hear it didn't work out but you are right smaller groups might be able to get together at one location for a van ride.

Very happy to hear you are able to get around with the cane now. I'm sure the warmth of Castaway Cay will help with your recovery!

I just filled out the final form on the DCL web site for the cruise. That was the credit card auth. We are all done.

Butin reading it says that there is a form we both have to sign and birng with, I did not see it or get one to print and sign? Does any one know what it is or were I might have gone wrong. I do this for all the cruises but this time I did not see now form.

Hi Carol and Craig!

Anyone staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House & Kidani Village) can take part in the Wanyama Safari. Those staying in a concierge level room get a break on the price. For concierge guests, it's $160 per person, all others will pay $210. There is also a minimum age of 8 to participate. The safari takes place on the grounds of the hotel and a family style dinner at Jiko follows. That's about all I can tell you now as we are doing it after the member cruise.

That is exactly it! We are now at the AKL, I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks everyone for good wishes. I'll gather up all the pixie dust I can find and send it out to you all!

Just an FYI, I was just on the DCL website and was able to book a 6:30 pm dinner reservation on 9/15, Day 3 at sea.

I previously had a 9:00 pm ressie and was excited to change it to an earlier time.

So for anyone else wanting a better dinner time, go check it out. Good luck!

We (at least the two of us) are back home safely. DS stayed in NJ with my parents. He will be there for the week. I am missing him already. This is the first time that he has been away from home without us. I know he will be fine. The question is will I be okay.

I know Cherry Hill well. My mom used to wrk in Cherry Hill before her job relocated to Marlton. I attended high school in Cherry Hill - Camden Catholic. DH & I were in Cherry Hill this past weekend at the AMC movie theater. We were practically neighbors.

Poor you! That is going to be hard. I remember the first time. BUt like you said you know he is ok he is with his grandparents. That is were my DS spent his first time away to. But it still does not make it any eaiser. But at least you have work to keep your mind busy.

Up early today because I had to take middle DS to the airport so he could go back to his job in NC. Wow, I miss him already! We get along so well and when he's here, we just talk and laugh for hours. He bought his first "almost new car" (07) so he drove his old olds (93) up here for us to use if we needed it. He's such a cutie.

How is everyone doing with their reservations - the ones who were 75 days out. I hope you were able to get something like what you wanted.

Does anyone else have a Palo brunch - we have 10:30.

Good morning everyone - happy Monday! Back to work today but it was announced Friday that due to the holiday at the end of the week it is casual day every day this week including shorts if we want. I'm not really a shorts to work person but I've got some capris I can wear.

Linked dining - cut off is the end of this month if you want to be linked with other DISers. Contact Flo for details.

Fish Extender Gift Exchange - cut off is August 12th if you want to be included on the official list. Again contact Flo for details.

DIS buttons - cut off is August 12th. This will allow us time to make and sort them. We make a few blanks that will be available at the DIS meet if you miss the deadline but if you want to have a personalized one we need to hear from you. Good Monday Morning.

Going to be a short week for me. We get Friday off for our Holiday and I'm going to try and take Thursday off too. We are having a big party at our house on the 3rd to celebrate the 4th. We are not doing it on the 4th because my one cousin can't make it that day so we are doing the 3rd! Anyone else have big 4th of July plans?
