This is inspired by a friend of mine that I recently caught up with after 20 years.

She has a beautiful dog, some sort of terrior, but I can't remember what.

The dogs name is Honda. I know this from pics on FB.

Everytime I'm around that dog, she was being called Putt-putt. I thought it was weird, who names their dog after mini golf? But I didn't say anything. So my friend wrote me yesterday about PUP PUP getting in the trash. :rotfl:
I told her I thought they were saying putt putt and she asked me if I was crazy.

Our dog is Pepper. I'm the only one that gives her nicknames. She has 2. One is Pepsi and the other is Pepperoni. She responds to both, including her given name.

Anyone else have a pet name that evolved into something else?

Nothing too crazy and they all sound like her name (Sasha) - Sashi, Squashi, Sash, Squashi-dog, Squash.

Yep! We have 2 cats that both have about a bajillion nicknames. Mischa most often gets called Boo. Lily most often gets called Bear. They respond to both their actual names and most of their nicknames. :)

We have a Goldendoodle named Gadget.

Let me preface this story by saying he is 100% healthy confirmed by two different vets and various testing. Gadget is ridiculously skinny. He has a very high metabolism. His fur is a cream color but his coat is very fine, like puppy fur fine, so you can almost see through it.

I took him to visit my relatives, and a family friend was over. He looked at Gadget and said, "What is this? This is not a dog, this is like a ghost of a dog."

Ever since then people started to call him Ghost Dog and it stuck.

Both of our dogs have numerous nicknames, so I won't bore you with them. They are pretty smart and will answer to anything, especially if they think you have a treat in your hand.

Oh sure, our girls all have nicknames. The labs each have an AKC name, the oldest, a yellow is Ivanhoe's Silver Start 74 and her nickname is Lilly. DH's fav football player is Bob Lilly, #74 for the Dallas Cowboys. We also call her Lillypup even though she is the oldest.

The black lab is Ivanhoe's Certain as the Sun, nickname Belle, being a Disney board, I don't think I need to explain the reference! ;) She was a handful as a pup so her other name is Be"Belle"zebub (instead of Beelzebub, the devil)!

Now, our little terrier mix rescue is a different story, no fancy name but lots of personality! Her name when we got her was Sweetie and DD still calls her that. I however, call her Shorty because she has a definite Napoleon complex!

The birds are Kiwi and Peanut but we just generally call them the birdie boys. Poor DD gets called everyone's name but her own sometimes! Luckily all but the birds are girls, so I can say "Come on girls" and they all come running, DD included! :lmao:

Kira is called Key Key a lot
Busters nickname was Bubba or Bubby
Xavier is getting Zavy baby since he's still a pup
Cassi has managed to keep her given name:)

One of our dog's 'official' name is CH. kennelname Oops! I Did It Again.

Had to be an "O" name and the name relates back to a running joke with our breeder.

Call name = Britney (gosh, wonder where we got that from :goodvibes)

But she is usually referred to as The Brat or BritBrat.nu

Other dog CH. kennelname 'Nuff Said (another running joke with breeder)
call name = Snuffy, snuffers

We have nicknames for ours too. Frankie is Peekachoo, bouchie, baby dog, Scooby is boo boo, racing stripe boo, christmas boo, Shelby is princess, cocker. baby girl, Spencer is BB wantabee. Hmmm kinda sounds like we are crazy pet people haha

Our dog's registered name is Troika Jedi Chosen One. The name we call him most (and the one the vet and HomeAgain have on file) is Anakin. The names he sometimes gets called range from Little boy to Little sh!t to Oso (as in O so cute or O so naughty or O so crazy)! :rotfl:

My knuckle-heads have nick-names like.....C'mereDayummit. WhaDidUDue and JesusChrist!

We mostly call our dog by her name but it gets shortened sometimes or often she gets called "stupid dog". :lmao:

Our dog has about 50 nicknames.

Her name is Zoe.

Her most used nicknames are Elvis (because her lip catches on her tooth and it looks like an Elvis lip), Puggle (because that's what she is), and Puzzle (because my niece thought that's what we were calling her). She answers to almost everything.

I adopted my dog at the SPCA where he was called America. Everyone wanted me to change his name but I decided to keep it. Much of the time I call him Bud or Buddy though.

Too funny. I thought I was the only one who did this. I have a doxiepoo with the given name Sidney. For reasons that no one seems to know, I call him Rudy or Roo. He responds to all three names. My DH thinks I am crazy and tells me I am confusing him. Not so.

I have a sweet little kitten that I named Tinkerbell - she was so dainty and cute when we got her - gray and white and only 12 ounces - about the size of a coke can!

As she has grown through kittenhood (she's about nine months old) she lost her beautiful gray fur and is now black and white. I started calling her Tinker for short but it quickly morphed into Stinkers. She is spoiled rotten! But still cute. She gives me "hugs" - she puts both her paws on my shoulders and rubs her face against mine. Then she will reach out and bat my face with her paw. Stinkers fits her better but I still try to call her Tinkerbell from time to time.

My kitty Abner-- I call him Doo or Doodle or Monkey. Why??? I don't know but he comes running when I call him. I love him so.:lovestruc

Our black lab's official name is Indiana Jones. (my boys named him) We call him Indie.

Our male dog's given name = Lou
Nickname = Dewey

Our female dog's given name = Daisy, we changed it to Miss Daisy when we got her at 4 months old
Nickname = Missy

Everybody in our household has the middle name of "Dean" regardless if it is on your birth certificate or not (DH is the only one with that true middle name). Because everybody knows you cannot properly yell at somebody, human or animal, without a middle name.

My most famous rename would probably be my dog Draco...who is now know as Mr. Bunnyfur..

He got that name because he has the softest coat, like a bunny, so bunnyfur is the nickname..

Of course...we will change the "bunny" part to other things...such as Mr. Specialfur, Mr. Sadfur and other such sillyness.

I call all my cats and dogs by diff names though...

Our dog's name is Bubba, and he has many names. Bubster, Bubbs, Bad boy, Baby, and my favorite Handsome Man. Also Dorito feet, cuz I swear his paws smell like Doritoes! lol. Weird I know.
