Heading to Disney in a couple of weeks with my daughter (8). In the past I've always brought the same pack I use for work. It's nice and can carry everything, though it's a bit large, particularly since it will be just the two of us. So I'm looking to downsize. I don't plan on carrying too much; some water, snacks, and smaller items, such as ziploc bags and ponchos.

Any recommendations?

Thank you!

It's small, but I carry the smallest Vera Bradley soft backpack. I take my camera, cell phone, Kleenex packs, wipes, small sunscreen, ponchos, and first aid (band aids, ibuprofen, etc) It's not as heavy as a regular backpack and I like that. I am always have my tervis water bottle with me at home, but I don't carry that in the parks. I just get water from quick service places.

I have 2. One is a North Face (very large, but I like the side water pockets). I decided that one was probably too big. So I bought a Dooney and Bourke at our outlets. It's vinyl, and is kind of medium sized. It has side pockets that will fit a slim water bottle, but not a full size drink cup. It also has a nice big zipper outer pocket on the front, which fits my car keys, wallet, and cel phone. Then the main compartment is pretty big. When I shop for backpacks or a new purse, I haul everything I want to fit in it, and try it out in the store.

Last year, I forgot my backpack, and bought a really cute one at the Kidani Village shop. It is tan with little Mickey heads all over it. Looks like leopard print from a distance. The quality isn't as good as either of the ones above, but it is cute, and made for a fun souvenir. It was a good size for a trip to the parks.

Ever since we took the kids (starting when DS was 19 months) we have used a Baggallini Messenger bag. It worked perfect for toddlers with formula, snacks and diapers. Now it works for ponchos, snacks and meds for my DD.

I use a JanSport Half Pint backpack. It looks like a regular JanSport but is super tiny! I love it because it holds 2 ponchos, a washcloth, sunglasses, wallet, a water bottle, etc. It fits great in the pockets on rides like Expedition Everest and Rockin Rollercoaster. Right now it's not showing on the JanSport website, but I see it on Amazon and other sites. This is a pic that shows how big it is on- it looks tiny but it can hold so much.

That's about the size of mine. Perfect for the parks!

Definitely recommend 2 thins

A bag with water bottle holders

And a bag that is weather resistant

I have a Kavu sling bag. It is a great size, has a couple pockets, so, I just unzip and open them for security bag check. The strap has a clip, so you can take the bag off easily, and you can swing it around to the front easily for some of the rides. I usually put it on the floor of the ride and put my leg thru the strap, as it is too large for the pockets on EE and RNR.

I was leary about a one-shoulder strap, but it never gives me any issues! It has been my park bag for 3 trips, and will continue to be my park bag for quite some time!

I have this style in a different pattern.

I use an older version of the Vera Bradley backpack that zips. It's big enough to carry all I need, but small enough where I don't feel weighed down or hot.

I also have a newer, more traditional, full sized Vera Bradley backpack that I'll be bringing for the first time this year.

I use something similar to this. It's a backpack with a camping stool attached. Lightweight, and perfect for waiting for the bus at the end of the day. The original backpack wore out, so now I have a blue WDW backpack attached to the black camping stool.

I don't use a backpack when at WDW but for a recent trip to San Francisco area and Big Sur I used a Vera Bradley Campus backpack. I wore it every day and we walked and hiked, it was roomy and comfortable even though I had some heavier things in it.

I use an Under Armour one with the breathable back so my back is not soaked in sweat

Love my Vera Bradley bag. It's really great during the summer as the quilting acts as a cooler. Most of the time we freeze a bottle and it stays nice a cold for quite awhile. And it's relatively light weight.

I have used one of the smaller very Bradley bags but when it is loaded down the thin straps bug me. Last year I got on the vans minnie mouse print back packs and liked it.
